    I remember these trains from the 1950's. At that time I lived in Pensilvania and use to watch the steam and diesel trains go by. You never ever forget the sounds and smells.

    The SantaFe is the quintessential 1950s Lionel. If you don't have the originals, this set is a fine way to re-live the essence of Lionel in a by-gone era. Even the cars are good representations of the originals. I got a chuckle about the milk car ... yes, I have the original, and it too jams once in a while. The Auto Loader looks really fine.. Brings back the feeling of childhood in the 50s, with my Dad... bless his Spirit..
    I would add those decals like you mentioned... that would be a nice addition to the new release locos.

    I also love F3's and it all began with a set from my uncle of the Santa Fe diesels with silver passenger cars as a kid in the '50's with a train track loop under the annual Christmas tree! Colorful engines and cabooses are my favorites, so the Kansas City Southern F3's come in 2nd to the Santa Fe F3's. Pretty cool that you have the new and old matching sets!

    Those early versions are impressive Zack, you’ve got some nice ones. I just got a tiny LC+2.0 steamer, the features continue to amaze. She’ll grow on you. The new technology is impressive, with smooth running hardware, and the fit-and-finish are top notch. Congratz!

      Thanks!! Congrats on the steamer!! I am pretty impressed with the LC 2.0 system. Seems to be a great runner, and love the sounds out of them. May have to look into some other LC 2 stuff in the future. Happy Railroading

    Now that's a lethal weapon!! Love the unboxing video! I can see where you are coming from with the paint but i think the yellow strip up the middle of the nose makes up for it! Sounds great love the horn! Over all nice addition to the fleet Zac!!.......

    @rarestad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Really nice set! I agree that the red is off, and I'm not fond of the white handrails on the nose, but wow, what an improvement in sound over the original LionChief+ offerings. I do think they hit a home run with the rolling stock. Thanks for the nice review, this is the first I've seen of the new 2.0 sets.

    Zack I think the set is really beautiful it’s actually nice that Lionell did not use the same exact color otherwise you’d have all your F 3 with the same colors. I think the design of adding the yellow stripe in the front makes the engine look sharp. I’m also excited to see that Lionell re issued some of their classic cars to this set. Enjoy Richard.

    At 7:13 comparing the windshields with the older unites, It looks to me like they are almost flat instead of V shaped. And the roundness of the nose is different too. Plus the paint stripping on the roof is wrong. I Don't care for them much. That's just my opinion.

    There's currently 1,500 Lionel F3 & 150 Lionel Santa Fe F3 units on e bay. Not sure what the appeal is with buying the exact same thing from Lionel (re-released 25 times or more) when you can find them second hand at 75% less.

    • @CountryBunkersTrains
      @CountryBunkersTrains  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had one Williams set in my hands once. When I was looking for the 2245 TX special I almost picked up a Williams version from a hobby shop. It looked good, and seemed to run good too, but I couldn’t get past the flatter red on it. I held out, and am happy I did. Picked up an original 2245 set a few months later. It was a nice set though! I just get a little uppity when comparing to the originals lol

    I like the video. The set is spot on except for two things ... The diesels fall short of recreating the original by color and by the stripe not stopping below the headlight. Of course the lack of the Lionel and GM tags add to it as well. The second is the caboose they. Outdoor have made it like the boxy original and made it smoke for fun. Look these sets cost enough one should not settle. But if you’re happy with it that’s all that matters ... Happy Railroading and nice layout.

    Lionel went out of their way to bring back modern post war F3 Santa Fe diesels. Why be so picky about red horns etc. It is a Postwar conventional Classic for gosh sakes! I would rather have these new trains than the old ones any day. Lionel made a huge Santa Fe streamliner set in 2007 I think, two A units and 2 or 3 B units. About 7 or 8 cars I think. We need more appreciation for what Lionel does for us perfectionists. Great job Lionel, and thank you a hundred times!

    Zack, great video ! I don't have any lionel chief trains and no longer own any tmcc stuff either. I enjoyed this video but was curious how you were operating the train set on your layout? Can you tell us what you are using? Thanks, Glenn in AZ

      Thanks Glenn! Yea, I’ve only got 2 TMCC equipped engines at the moment. Don’t run them a whole lot. The set is operated via TMCC hooked up to the MTH DCS system. Thank you for watching!

      @@CountryBunkersTrains thanks for the information. I knew your 2344 had been converted to ERR and I saw it run but didn't really give it much thought. When I saw your new 120th anniversary F3 set it made me wonder what you were running it on. Thanks again. Always enjoy watching your videos. I am more of a postwar leaning guy but have a few proto 2 engines as well. No tmcc stuff since they did not run very well in our club layout so I sold them. Keep the videos coming!

    I guess if the modern chassis are the same build as the postwar chassis you could just swap the shells out! I'm sure it's not that easy though

    It doesn't look as good as postwar but I would still like to own them. Sounds awesome.

      I'll take any of those santa fe f3 a units anyday. I'll probably end up buying a set of post war a units from the 50s at tax time.

    Hey, what ballast did you use along the track? It looks good on MTH track.
