    Getting extra straights instead of curves is a good thing! You always end up with way too many curves if you have more than 1 train set

    Even though you did not need the missing parts, I highly encourage you to contact LEGO Customer Service so they are aware of the error, especially in case it was not an isolated incident.
    There should be a lot number printed on an adhesive sticker or near the bar code on the outside of the box, and that will help them to track where the problem occurred.

    I have noticed this concerning trend about LEGO City recently, mainly that specific pieces are more and more interesting, having fabulous functions, such as a parachute, net shooters, stud cannons etc. while overall, they get... primitive, a prime example off being that now practically every car has an already done chassis, even the cars on this train seem very simple - with the walls being comprised of 3-element rectangles. What do you think?

    • @EmeraldCoasttt
      @EmeraldCoasttt ปีที่แล้ว +7

      This is a thing Afols have complained about since the first person talked about lego on the internet. Imo it's more accurate to say that specialization comes in waves- as older parts are discontinued, new parts are introduced, and it isn't always a 1:1 ratio. Take a look at City in the late 90's/early 2000's, modern city is incredibly complicated by comparison
      I think a more accurate thing that can be said about city is that it progressively becomes more action oriented as time goes on, moving away from dollhouse style play. This isn't a bad thing- kids love action toys, and City is designed for kids!

  • @nomic655
    @nomic655 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    8:31 That's a not-very-fancy way of describing that they just reused the same app from the Passenger Train with different visuals while not adding a light to the set itself. That, and many other choices, such as the plastic wheels, just show that Lego is being cheap on their sets, but expensive on their price tags.

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well you could say that they reused the control profile from 2018, from this aspect there's really nothing new in it. Removing a button could have been one click, so I like the intention of leaving it in. The biggest issue of Control+ for Technic is the fact that you cannot even add a light to the models that almost all have free ports for that. Here we at least have the possibility, although the set would definitely require some guidance about it.

    In my Assembly Square, the whole bag was misplaced with another bag from the same step (it was step number 4, and I got 2 copies of one bag and 0 copies of another bag). Lego support was very helpful in quickly identifying the specific missing bag by just a couple of pieces (I was missing a mustache from the photo guy) and sent all the contents of the bag to me as a replacement. I identified the 2 copies situation because parts from opened bags for step 4 contained 4 minifigure heads while only 2 were expected (and zero mustaches)

    I remember my son getting sets 3677 and 7938. By far those where the greatest train sets from LEGO when it came to “battery powered” trains. Especially 3677, since today my son has a custom Maintenance Of Way high-rail built with the High rail from 3677. Of course the car that carried the high rail still exists in one piece as well. For set 7938, it was scrapped for parts for other locomotive builds.

    So I finished this set this morning and I absolutely love it. Worth every cent.
    But I cannot run the car transport wagon around my layout. I thought ground clearance was going to be an issue on my inclines but thankfully that's not a problem ( so now I know I can run the 60337 around it :-) The problem is the 8 studs with of the car transport wagon, it hits several pillars and buildings. So that is going to need some adjustment. The Reach Stacker is an absolute beautiful thing. Almost excellent set.

    I'm not into LEGO trains but i might get this set if i can get a good discount. I bought the off-road buggy last year (with 50% discount) because i wanted to experiment a bit with motorized builds but was very disappointed because the buggy could only be controlled via an app that did not work on my old phone - and i am not going to buy a new phone just to be able to run a single app. This set have what all motorized LEGO set should have - options to control with both an app and a dedicated LEGO remote. With this set (and other sets like it) i can do motorized builds without having to get a new phone.
    Which set is the currently cheapest set available with same idea of control, that is at least an option to use it without a phone app?

    • @RacingBrick
      @RacingBrick  ปีที่แล้ว

      The train controller can only be used directly with this 2 port hub. Any other sets (like the buggy) will require the Powered Up app and some coding to act as a bridge between the remote and the Technic hub. Currently only the trains come with the remote in the box, nothing else. There are 3rd party solutions to control cars directly with the remote, but they require some coding - th-cam.com/video/OI26ok1Kekc/w-d-xo.html

    I honestly dislike the trend of double ended cabs on the locomotives and I don't like the look of the cargo train for this year at all. In my opinion, the rollingstock looks better than the locomotive

      Double-ended cabs on freight trains is a very very common European train design, which this is going for a similar look to a Siemens Vectron; to which it's done rather well.

      Double ended cabs on locos has been a thing here since we had the first diesel-electrics in the 1950s and 1960s.

      Nah that normal with some lego sets I think it's the fact that two of the bags have no numbers on them when all the other bags have them

    • @leoconto1043
      @leoconto1043 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I look at it those bags contain the train only parts like bumpers and the controler. but also the amount of straight tracks are more then the curved tracks every train set has a even amount of straight and curved tracks

      @@leoconto1043 non-numbered bags are very common for parts that odd shaped and/or electronics. If you nab, say, the City lunar base or the launch sets, they include their large plates in a non-numbered bag.
