    The reach stacker looks like 10-wide which is more than 2 times wider than the train! Lego really needs to do something with train width these days.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reach stacker with the levers on the side is even 12 studs wide and therefore exactly twice as wide as the LEGO train. The width of the trains has been criticized by many people for years. I am now converting many of my trains to 8 wide, if possible. Probably even 9 or 10 would be better. However, we would then need a different rail system.

    I've noticed that these new wheels for the non-powered bogies look rather odd, especially given the lack of a proper metal axle. That's something I found as I was building the new passenger train, and to me it's quite a downgrade.
    As for this new freight set, I still have no intention of getting myself, though I can't remember whether or not I already explained why in a previous comment. Either way I'm sure it'll still impress kids; same goes for the passenger train. I'll also add that I like the buffer stop detailing and the red transfer vehicle; I've seen real ones quite often here in Tauranga (especially when I'm out filming trains).
    Incidentally I'm also making a video about the 60337 set. One last thing I'd like to say; I had no idea the US release would be a month later than in Germany and New Zealand.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the new train wheels are a disaster. They roll much worse than wheels with metal axles. Thank God I have a very large inventory (about 150 axles, 300 wheels) of the old train wheels.
      If I had to choose (which I no longer have to) I would choose the passenger train. I like that much better. The freight train set is perfectly fine for children and they are also less critical. You get a colorful train with 3 wagons and the reach stacker. I don't think kids want more than that.
      When the trains were announced a few weeks ago, the release date for the US was still June 1st. Shortly thereafter, LEGO postponed this by two months.

    I already noted about captive bearings in your other review. You can use "dry silicone" lubricant on the new train wheels and it makes a difference to how they run. I use dry silicone on technical sets too to reduce friction. Just be careful to never get this on track or wheels or nothing will move as it drops friction to nearly zero; I did this once and had to clean everything off before being able to run any trains.

    • @kexysbrickbuilts
      @kexysbrickbuilts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I prefer to use the old LEGO train wheels. I think they roll very well even without ball bearings. Thank God I still have a very large stock of old LEGO train wheels. I've tried ball bearings before, but apparently I bought the wrong ones. If you have a recommendation for me, I am happy to accept it.

    • @Tom55data
      @Tom55data 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XENO567 Re- mess. That is why I use dry-silicone. It has a solvent that evaporates leaving the silicone on the surface with no residue. For the wheels is spray some on a cotton bud then touch the surfaces; that way I can be sure not to get any on the rims. As noted elsewhere, I use the bearings on the old axles and the dry silicone on the new wheels - not as good, but better than nothing.

I feel the 4512 & 4514 still work very well with the modern city-themed sets. So I am very reluctant to get this new train. Also, the color schemes for the newer sets are really light. • @kexysbrickbuilts

      Hello, thank you for your comment. I have not encountered any derailment issues on either model. However, I rarely use the standard LEGO tracks with a radius of 40 myself, so maybe that's why I don't have any problems with them.
      Both trains are not particularly heavy, so the motor can easily pull the wagons on both trains. The weight of the battery box creates enough pressure on both drive bogies to have the appropriate grip.
      I personally prefer the passenger train, but that's certainly a matter of taste ;-)

    I really like the New trains! But those New wheels just makes me irritated.

      Well... for a playset, the train wheels are probably fine. But if you like building long and heavy trains like me, then the new wheels are just worse than the previous ones. It then becomes difficult to move the train without installing a second engine.
