It’s a shame Lego doesn’t make many Lego Trains anymore. I think If they made a new Lego train theme and made Steam Engines for it the theme might sell well!
Yea but too be honest Lego been lacking sets in general, kinda thinks that's why they bought brick link so Lego fans can go see custom stuff over there so Lego can focus on new stuff but who knows what Lego will release in the next couple years, just gotta hope its some cool stuff

This really goes to show how under-utilised the train series is at Lego. It's a huge missed opportunity. If they released a new train shed, level crossings with control tower, individual train cars and freight cars....they would cash in big time.
One of the many points where Lego is shooting themselves in the foot is trains: Every few years they make a freight train and a passenger train and not much more - and then they're puzzled why the trains sell so badly...
The 1980's Lego Train sets where the pinnacle. They had all the bells and whistles to be a proper train system. It's only when you see this system for real you also hear how amazing it sounds when running
I don’t know if anybody has heard yet, but an orient express set got selected to be made on LEGO ideas, so we’re hopefully getting that either this year or next year
I got the 7727 for my 7th or 8th birthday. My parents must have saved for months. Best birthday gift ever. I remember initially having to use a power wall adaptor to provide voltage because they then had to save up for the Lego transformer/controller. I also eventually got the stop/start signal , and some switch tracking. And finally the depot with the crane. Wow. What a mind trip this has been. Thankyou !
I had that 90s passenger train - that was PEAK lego design IMO. I also had a set around that time that you did not include, it was cargo crane with one car (IIRC). It was so cool. I wish I made a lego train city back in the day. Great video!
for me the best Lego trains are those 9 volts (one of many reasons is this: I don't have to change the batteries every 2 hours or so if I have to do events) and instead for you which ones are the best?
I've got both the Santa Fe and the BNSF, they were both birthday gifts that I received at the time. Needless to say, because of their money value, and their sentimental value to me, I'm never getting rid of them. Though, I would like to get more of them some day
I love Lego trains! I got my 7938 and 60051 passenger trains in Easter 2014 and my 12th birthday, and got the 60198 Cargo Train as a gift from my 10th grade year graduation in 2021, got the 60335 Train Station for my 18th birthday and the 60336 Freight Train for Christmas 2022, my first Lego train set for Christmas! Paid the $200 for it and it works so good compared to my pervious Cargo Train (green), one year later, thus the BLE color connection is a light teal blue color for hub and controller. I got lights to my 60336 and it was easy to install. 2010's Lego trains was way cool than the 2000's. I love Powered Up and its app!
Lego Factory train was by so far the most interesting, Lego should release similar train set like that where you can build not only one wagon or locomotive, you can build a whole train with a locomotive and some wagons.
The current passenger train is based on the new second gen. Rolling stock of the eurostar TOC (train operating conpany) and are siemens velaro D highspeed trains , the horizon express is based on the TGV sud-est , the first generation of TGVs in regular service , and the second generation of TGV if one includes the gas-turbine prototype consist Im german btw Also the new cargo train looks like it has the 373 windshield wich was due to the eurotunnel , sooo, they are implying that theres a chunnel??
If they make a UP colored diesel engine I might loose my mind (In a good way). If they sell different types of rolling stock I will purchase multiples of all of it!!! Might even divert some of my electric train money towards Lego. The video was great and I liked and subscribed.
0:47 strange that there are clearley plenty of plates and sloped pieces but lego couldn't design a more realistic loco. i guess cost had to come into it. Would be interesting to have just the available pieces from that era and see how good you could make a loco

There is a Lego Tram that is sold by Wiener Linien the public transit service of Vienna Austria. I don't think that it is produced anymore, but there are some still available on the website.
LEGO was great as long as every piece they produced could be used for many purposes because that was the whole point of the toy: Build the model you bought, build the second model, but then, build your own stuff with the bricks. Today we have sets full of pieces that you could not use to build anything else no matter how hard you tried. LEGO has become Playmobil.
3:01 they actually based quite a bit of their old stuff on real locomotives. For example the train at 2:05 is based of of the german E-69 As a sidenote, i never understood the colour pallet used on the passenger cars for the train at 3:27. The passenger wagons are clearly based on the Dutch NS passenger wagons and yet they added DB logo's on it
Yes, the 90´s trains didn´t go for the most realistic approach but they were better than the bland stuff that came in the early 2000s. I mean come on they had like 6 cargo trains, how could one not like that? Also back then they offered alternative building ideas on the backside or last page of the manuals.
