Frankly I don’t know how you come up with all those different pour layering. It wouldn’t cross my mind to do big layers, small ones, and so on. Now I understand how I failed most of my ring pours, viewing from my perception. Making big layers should be my rescue in this. Thank you David, as always, great information 🌺
I always wondered why I sometimes got large blocks of colour (that I didn't want). Never even thought it was the thickness of my layers. So another thank you for opening my eyes. I really liked how your painting ended up after flipping btw. Thanks David.
Just found you & subscribed. I love art and want to explore acrylic pouring. You explain things so well. I’m watching your videos to learn as much as I can before beginning.
Thank you David. Last year I did an aurora borealis inspired bottle bottom pour using thin layers but I so wish I had done thicker layers. I must find time to repeat that one!
This was definitely super helpful! Thank you for the breakdown. I was trying to understand myself how the layering produces different results, but you totally nailed it here! 🙏🏽🎨👏🏽
Another awesome video, very informative. I really like how the painting turned out after tilting it. I'm hoping to start pouring again soon, but once I can stand again with no issues, (PT is working), I have to resin a bunch of paintings first. But I think I might just have to move them aside to do a couple pours first! I have truly missed it.
@@LeftBrainedArtist thanks, me too. I'm actually able to bend my knee again, which I haven't been able to since the end of October! Sure does help when putting on shoes and socks! lol
@@LeftBrainedArtist You are the man to go to if I have any questions about Pour painting, Because I no I will get my answer... Keep doing what your doing. You help a lot of people. Me for one..
Such good information…. I love the way explain it. I experimented with some votive/candle holders yesterday. They definitely didn’t turn out like I wanted, but I think they might be ok after I get a coat of sealer on them. The canvases are beautiful though. I’m in a rut, I want to do more difficult techniques, yet just can’t pull them off. So I am discouraged. I need to go back & just do some flip cups, straight pours to get my confidence back.
Have you done Gina Deluca style pour? Specifically thinking of how she pours from up high into her cup. Her latest talks about Rayleigh Taylor vs. other effects. I thought it was interesting.
Thank you so much David for your great informative videos your the best between other channels... But I wonder why the colors always, always turn dark and dull with me... I hope you tell me the answer & solution please .
You are probably suing many transparent colors that when they layered they go much darker looking. Having a light opaque color in your painting, especially as a base or the first paint poured out can help that.
I like using the blow drier for most of mine. Ive been paintings with thin/craft but I have some that are higher quality and it's heavy. It keeps going to the bottom. Wondering if there is away to paint with both craft and higher quality
I only use metallic from the craft paints now days. They just don't have the color depth that others do and it is harder to guess weight/density as every bottle seems to be different.
Thank you so much. I learn so much from your videos. Have you did a video on Balloon kisses? I have watched many of Gilly's videos, but still having problems. When I try the balloon kisses it is pulling up to much paint and it shows the canvas.
The smaller layers it what makes things more interesting in my opinion. Especially on the bottom of the cup if you are pouring the paint out (straight pour, tree ring pour, etc.). The heavy paint (white) makes that paint fall so you'll get that color in the lower layers more often.
I have so much to learn & wish I had someone to help me as have back disabilities but am determined to do my best! Today just tried to find a round “spin plastic tub” at Wallyworld & ended up with a big roasting pan & a grate I have no idea how to put together! Can you visit Illinois?
I haven't tried DecoArt's pearl medium. I have a few others and they seemed to work great. Keep in mind this will seriously lighten the weight of the mixed paint so it will cell a bit like metallics and pearlescent paints do if mixed in with other paints.
I generally don't but if there is nothing on your cover layer you can just scrap it up with a flat object. Or you can put a cup underneath in the corners when you are tilting to capture most of it.
You mix them all up so much I am now confused as to whether I like thick or thin pores I wish that you would do just thick or just thin not all the combinations because I have no idea what you did how you did it or what works best?
How do you like to stack your paint?
From now on after watching your video, definitely big layers 😉
I prefer thick layers with similar colors and slightly thinner layers when I'm looking for fine contrast
This channel is the BEST for learning!! Really appreciate your videos 😊
My pleasure Maria.

You are welcome. Luckily I have a great community that asks lots of questions which sparks most of my video ideas.
Thankyou for the comparison! I like the first thick then thin best ❤️
That's why I love pouring so much Meg. So many different ways things and everyone likes completely different results.
David, I have learned so much from your experiments and your explanations of them. Thank you!
Very interesting. Thank you for explaining this. I love the painting also. Thank you David ☮️💖🎶

That is pretty much how my pouring learning goes to. I see something and a lightbulb goes off. "so that's why that happens!"
Thanks David for your knowledge and sharing!

Great video, David. It just underscores the importance of consistency of the paint, depending on the technique.
Very true Gabriel.
All small thinner layers are prettiest
I think so too.
Great demonstration.🖌☺
Thank you! So interesting how layering works.

Thanks Kathy. They are fun to make too which is a bonus.
Have you done Gina Deluca style pour? Specifically thinking of how she pours from up high into her cup. Her latest talks about Rayleigh Taylor vs. other effects. I thought it was interesting.
Yup. She does a dirty cup for her straight pours and uses the metallic colors to cell for her. Her stuff is pretty awesome.

I'll do some more experimenting and definitely get to that. I love the under the sea painting that Molly did also with balloons.
@@LeftBrainedArtist yes, that was gorgeous too.
So if I add a lil titanium white (to all my colors) then that will help & I see keeping the paint thinner seems to look better & easier to start?

Have you ever used DecoArt Pearlizing Medium?if so did it work?and howed you use it?

Thank you i have another question how will do you think that medium would work in your homemade medium
I have a question. Do you save your run off paint? If so, what’s the easiest way to collect it?
I generally don't but if there is nothing on your cover layer you can just scrap it up with a flat object. Or you can put a cup underneath in the corners when you are tilting to capture most of it.
Good evening David! I have a question. Can you use pre-mixed and mixed paints on the same canvas?
Sure. You need to make sure they are the same consistency and also might want to test them in a small pour to see how they interact.
David, what do you clean your canvas with before vanishing?
@@sharonmartin2040 With no silicone. Just a slightly damp cloth. With silicone I use face wipes, Windex, and some alcohol in separate cleanings.
Will you think of doing a how to sell a painting. How does one put a fair price to a painting?
I need to sell more before I feel comfortable doing that but I definitely will.
You mix them all up so much I am now confused as to whether I like thick or thin pores I wish that you would do just thick or just thin not all the combinations because I have no idea what you did how you did it or what works best?
Sorry Lisa. I tried to repeat which was which when I was pouring and at the end.
ohhh yes i found out the difference in how you pour the
paint into the cup lol the hard way
Those are the best lessons too. They are frustrating but they are the best.
