It’s hard, but taking your time is such an important part of desensitizing really anybody to anything. Great job breaking this down into small steps for people who haven’t done this before to follow!
How would you accomplish this with one person? I'm unable to give the treat and clip my cat's nails. He also ceases to care about food the instant he's restrained in even the slightest or gentlest way.

I would put the treat in a little bowl and offer it that way so you can concentrate on the nail trim while he eats!
Do you even KNOW whats in those little addictive packets?!

If you put the cat back outside,, your going Wrong they need their claws for defense!!!!!!
He lives with us! No one is putting him back outside. Nail trims also don't interfere with defense!
