    It's not surprising that the kitten adapted so quickly; you let it make most of the decisions, you have a soft, calming voice, and great patience.

    Jeeves is a beautiful kitty! Unless you have some allergy, I hope the gloves have come off by now. I'll look forward to any updates. I have two feral cats outside who are very attached to me. It's a great feeling, isn't it?!

    I'm so glad you saved him from a short life on the streets! ❤❤❤
    It does appear he as been around humans prior to you catching him, a feral cat with no experience with humans will not lean into being touched right away. And it's wise to remove the gloves once the risk of being bit or transmitting disease/parasites is gone so he can get used to the scent on your hands and the difference in texture.

    This cat is definitely not feral or hasn’t been that way long. She’s been pet before. Ferals don’t come around this fast and last their only a few weeks old.

      I've been feeding two feral kittens for several months and I have just been able to pet the male because he is less cautious than the female. The mother has separated herself from them so they just hang out in my backyard.

    The little guy is attracted to you for the same reason we are: You are kind and patient (and allow _us_ to approach _you._ :-)
    Are you familiar with the content of _KittenLady_ ? She and you would have so much to talk about. She suggests the use of a metal backscratcher, because it simulates the action of the mother cat´s tongue.
    I presume you are the (only) one filming. Congratulations for making it necessary for me to ask. Also, the choice of music is perfect -- just like you and this labor of love, it is not too fast or too slow, and lighthearted without being maudlin.
    _Thumb´s up!_

    I don’t think the cat was feral either. I adopted 2 five months old cats 3 months ago from somebody that was feeding them and they still get really scared when I’m near them. I can’t pet them or hand feed them because they run away. They don’t want to play and are extremely quiet. They are always on top of a chair. When I opened my bedroom last week they started hiding under the bed.

      I don't know about that. I started feeding 3 feral sisters. I guess they were 4-5 months old when they showed up. Only one survived and uses my home as her base of operations. She's 2.5 years old now. She will greet me if she's around when I'm outside. She does that slow eyeblink thing and is very relaxed around me. I can come up to her with my hand within an inch with a treat, but she will not permit any touch.

    That was fast! He didn't seem truly feral - maybe someone was feeding him outside. And at the risk of being a fussbudget, pet in a noun, PAT is a verb. It's patting, he wants to be patted. Now he Is a Pet, who loves to be patted. The lap is the best spot for pets who want to be patted. That's an amazing transformation - some cats who have always lived with people will never be lap cats!

    Good story, but definitely not feral. This kitten has been pet before. I have 2 foster feral that are at least a month younger than this and we aren't at this stage after a month. I know that's not every cat.... but you can tell this one has been pet before and knows the feeling. Good job all the same with this wild guy

    • @janetknight1276

      Feral means born in the wild. Kittens can be tamed if caught between 4 and 8 weeks. Takes longer if kittens are older but can be done. I have a beach feral that has become a member of our family. Now 8 yrs. Old he comes in and is very much at home with being inside. Still wants to run and hide outside if it thunders. I believe any age can be tamed to a degree with patience and love and time.

    • @hippiebits2071
      @hippiebits2071 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Part of it is that she isn’t overwhelming the kitten to the point of flight, also many feral cats just kind of shut down completely rather than act out. This kitten may or may not have had human contact but it wasn’t necessarily someone’s pet. There are many variables that could be at play here.

    Not all street cats are feral. He was clearly never feral. It was unnecessary to leave him alone in a room and stressed for so long. He would have succumbed to petting from the first day if he had been held and stroked for 30 minutes. Depriving him of touch and love for so long is a form of animal cruelty. Nevertheless thank you for at least taking him off the streets.
