Yes it was a pretty hard hit. But that is one of the fallacies of a basal skull fracture. You don't have to hit that hard for it to happen inside a driver's head. That's why amateur racers, driving a lot slower speeds, wear HANS Devices too.
I will remember this day for the rest of my life. Not because im a hardcore NASCAR fan but because I was watching the race that day with my 9 year old son and the look in his face when they said he died it just broke my heart into pieces. I am crying as im writing this right now. I mean here we have a kid who never met him and only knew about Dale because of me watching NASCAR and he felt so sad and started crying we both cried and a held him tight. After that day NASCAR hasn't been the same for us. I,mean we cheer for Dale jr. of course but is not the same. I don't know why im telling you'll this but I guess is because we all loved him including people who never even knew him. RIP Dale.
MrElPoderozo1 I used to watch nascar with my dad all the time until Sr. passed... of course we rooted for Jr. too but it just isn’t the same. It’s hard when your hero is literally taken away from the world. It’s not like a career ending injury. It was a life ending accident. That shit is still hard to cope with.
I was in high school at the time, I was watching it live with my family. My dad always rooted for sr and I agree it was never the same after that. It’s still emotional for me and I turned 40 this year.
One of the saddest things to ever happen. I had been a Dale Earnhardt fan way back when he and Ricky Rudd were both driving cars sponsored by Wrangler. After his death I no longer cared to watch NASCAR racing. God bless you Dale Earnhardt....May God bless you and your whole family. You are very much missed by your family, myself, and thousands of other hard core Dale Earnhardt fans. You are a NASCAR legend!!
jstrahan2 though I just said it today after reading the whole story of his death, I don't like it either but it's true. Btw there were sooo many ironies in his death😱!
The human body is so unpredictable. I've seen these guys walk away from flaming roll overs after smashing the wall, and they get out without a scratch. And this "small" crash did him in
Chris Last That was pretty lame man. All you could come up with is me eating Spaghetti O's? A world of possibilities and you chose that? You might as well have said "You big dumb dumb" or "My dad can beat up your dad". Try harder when you get out of school today.
Its still amazes me how people can't understand how this wreck killed Dale. He was turned straight up into the wall almost head on and hit by another car in the side at the same time. The amount of G-forces put on his body would have been unreal. Listen to Waltrip he is instantly concerned because as a driver he understands the kind of impact that a crash like that causes. The spectacular looking barrel rolls with parts flying off look worse but those flying parts and rolls are absorbing energy that the driver isn't. Think about the feeling you get when you slam on brakes instantly and magnify that by over a thousand, that's what happened to Dale. Essentially his body stopped faster than his head and neck. Sad because if he had been wearing a Hans device he probably would have survived this accident.
2001 was a rough year all around. I was in college at the time, and I was in our apartment studying that day- just like on 9/11. I'm pretty sure the world came to a stop on both days for a lot of people like myself. NASCAR hasn't been the same for me since, I grew up watching Dale on TV as a kid in the 80's, he was an unstoppable force that a lot of us who are NASCAR fans will never forget!
J. W. That was Darrell Waltrip referring to how his brother just needed to hang on for one more lap to win. Darrell was actually one of Dale's good friends you can hear in this broadcast how the joy for his brother winning is quickly overtaken by concern for Dale.
Read the NASCAR investigation report. It took me maybe 3 hours. Much like an aircraft incident, there were several factors that played into the final, fatal outcome. It’s really, really interesting if you’re a true NASCAR fan. It’s a shame that Sterling Marlin had to deal with any blowback. He had lost a friend, and was absolutely not at fault.
itsmejohny yep he came in 2nd place was gonna take first but when he saw the wreck behind him it scared him and he slowed down I wouldn't blame him he was worried about his dad
AndiBrot As the commentator said, the TV does not do this crash justice. This impact was horrifically dangerous. The car went full force, 200 mph into an unmoving wall. The G's pulled were incredibly high from the sudden stop. However, by today's standards the wreck is well with in survivable range but that is because NASCAR forces all driver to wear the HANS seat belt device (Head and Neck Support). Dale didn't like to wear this device cause he thought it was too restricting and negatively impacted his driving. However the HANS seatbelt device is specifically designed to prevent Basal skull fractures...which is what Dale died of on impact. Truly unfortunate for such a great driver.
EricEbac22 no you were close what happened to dale was that he want to use his original seat belt he allredy used all 3 broke and he went head first on the dash and busted his head and broke his neck and broke his ribs
i was in college when this happened and i remember one of my classes we took a test and my professor saying that if Dale won the race we would all get an A. Knowing what had happened and seeing the pain and sadness on his face is something I'll never forget.
I rooted for Dale E since the mid 80's and I was so damn sure that he was alright after this crash, I went for a walk after the race. My son was at his house watching the race and broadcast afterwards and when the announcement was made that Dale was killed, he called me immediately but I wasn't home. He jumped in his truck and came looking for me. He found me and said 'I guess you haven't heard'. I looked him straight in the eye and I knew what he was going to say and I said 'oh no'. He said 'yeah, Dale was killed'. I lost all feeling in my legs and almost fell. I told my son to give me a ride home. The next few days were some of the darkest days I can remember. RIP Dale E. you are and have been ever since, significantly missed by all your fans (I was one of them} and on the tracks of Nascar races.
Me too, watched the whole race, shut it off went to my grandmothers for Sunday dinner. Was getting ready for work the next day pulling up driving directions on Yahoo and the headline shows a picture of Dale 1951-2001, I started balling my eyes out, I must have checked ten websites trying to find someone to say something different, what an awful time I had dealing with it, very sad.
I never was a fan just like tens of thousands others weren't either' I don't miss him and I'm sure they don't neither for the dirty tactics he used while driving and NASCAR letting him get by with it creating drama and making him popular for $$$$$ both him and NASCAR.
Watched that unfold on television. Dale Earnhardt was also a recent first time winner of that coveted race in 1998 and in my mind was trying to protect his friend, Michael Waltrip's lead just so he experience that same joy that he did. Celebration turned to sadness and sorrow on that Sunday in February. A dark day for the racing community and our nation. You are missed and will never be forgotten Sr.
Its almost like when Dale's car turned right, it was heading straight for heaven...when it hit the wall, Dale went from Earth to Heaven. Just a way of viewing it... RIP Dale #3
I love your way of viewing it "Motor sports". I truly wish America in general held the same base views, that obviously, you do, and I myself as well. If we could get our country back to that, back to as we were founded, as "One Nation Under God!" then we could go right back to being the most prosperous, mightiest nation the world has ever seen. Why is it so hard for people to admit and see that the decline of America started at the same time many/most Americans told God, basically, " Okay God we got it from here as everything is going great! and then moved to Okay God not only do we have it from here we don't need you from here on out, and following that to, Get out of here God, we don't need want or desire you, in fact we'll teach our children that the Bible is nothing but a collection of fairy tales and outright lies, furthermore we're going to use liars-oops sorry about that, Lawyers to impose the will of the few over the will of the majority (undermining democracy in the process) and remove Christ and anything Christian anywhere it's mentioned in public or it's symbols appear doing anything and everything possible to run God out of town as it we're. Ironically after all of that, when incidents such as 9/11 or other horrible things like that occur or now that it's become obvious to people of all levels of intelligence that America is in trouble we are in decline and may never recover, or when they watch a small number of extremely greedy and immoral men come very close to destroying the worlds economies and plunging the world in to anarchy and chaos in the process, by stealing tens of billions of dollars from their own customers, stealing millions of Americans retirement funds and homes directly causing untold deaths and suffering on the people who trusted them. Then watched these people not only walk away from it without any being held accountable but being forced to use their own tax money to "bail them out" yet those tax dollars went to give themselves give themselves huge multi million dollar bonuses (I suppose in reward for their successfull theft as their companies were in shambles) and brand new corporate luxery aircraft, and America went into full on depression even though they tried to call it recession causeing far more misery, death, broken families, lost jobs and homes. All the while everyone wailing "Where's God?" Why did God allow this to happen? How could God let these greedy people get away with this outrage without punishment because they paid off the politicians? How could a living loveing God permit this, if he was real and if we were loved as he promised? my question is, How could god help us, God left town because we ran him out, said we didn't believe, called him a liar and hate monger and all manner of bad names. God didn't help because we ran God off, told him America didn't want him anymore and we are paying for that and will continue to pay. America became the great country it became because we we partners with God we were one nation under God!! plain and simple! I.hope we turn back to God, learn our lesson like gods people did, and again receive the blessing we did as a nation under God. I believe that's the only possible way we can avoid a race war that ultimatly results in the utter destruction of the black American and causes irreperable damage to America both domestically and abroad, snuffing out the light of true hope America used to shine throughout the world, dim now it would be gone forever then.
John L. Do you have no respect for the deceased? Rubbing is a huge part of NASCAR, the same way hitting is a part of hockey. If someone was rubbing on your side and they were driving offensively, as they should, would you turn them into the wall and try to seriously hurt them on purpose?
I remember watching this race at a friends house. I've been watching NASCAR since before Dale ever got into NASCAR. I've seen many wrecks that looked so much worse than this wreck, so I didn't think much of the wreck when it happened. I've seen them hit the walls straight on and walk away, sometimes hitting it so hard that the car would climb the wall and flip probably 20 times before coming to a stop, and walk away. Sometimes they would have to be cut out of the car before they could walk away. So it shocked the living hell out of me when they said he was dead. He must not have been wearing the proper protection gear is all I can assume.
Bcroft39 dale was a stubborn old blood and rules at the time didnt require the Head and Neck Support device so dale having started before it was invented didnt wear it since he had the choice and his skull broke at the base right where it connects nto the spine either when he slammed back into the seat or it came apart when he was flung forward
this was the day Nascar died too-and I wasn't a Earnhardt fan but I had a lot of respect for him and I knew he was good for this sport-I admit Dale was starting to grow on me a little but not enough to say I was a fan
The nick name intimidater was givin to Earnhardt ,if he didn't have the car or skill to win he would result to purposely wrecking a fellow driver. The intimidater doesn't fit as well as the cheater.
original footage how come I saw you turning up your iPod speaker if it was not recorded there on that iPod I doubt it then it would not be switching positions it would stay in one seat row in the same space the whole time.
I see that Dales car lost control before cutting in front of the yellow car and then crashing into the wall. Did he have a heart attack? Then lose control then hit that wall?
My girlfriend at the time was throwing my birthday party (my bday is 19th) and had my family over. She was the biggest Earnhardt fan. Needless to say Dale’s tragic death ended the party and really changed our relationship. It had a big impact on us and of course her fandom for him. R.I.P.
At 5:16 they made the call Cause of death, drove into wall The intimidator collided with Ken Schrader And then he died 2 seconds later Jr was screaming and saddening Not me.. nope I was the only one laughing I stood in the crowd with a smile on my face I was almost certain a Nascar fan would spray me with mace But instead they sat there with grief Only to wish, they had more than 8 teeth I didn't want to make this poem cause I knew it was mean But then I thought well Earnhardt... You should have raced clean. - Weregonnalose
My God, I remember the day this happened. I was in seventh grade in Reno with my family and saw it in the circus circus TV screens. I couldn't believe it. I loved Nascar and racing from a young age. My first PlayStation game was Nascar racing and Dale's car was my favorite to use each race. May he race in piece.
My dad and I were watching this. I was ecstatic for Waltrip's win, but Daddy (a die-hard Earnhardt fan) saw that distinctive black car hit the wall. I didn't know until the camera panned in on the wrecked cars, and then my heart sank. I think we both knew deep down. Horrible day. I never will forget it.
Holy hell that must have been bittersweet for the winner... So you won the Daytona 500, but also one of the most famous Nascar racers of all time had a freak crash and died during that same race. God damn that is rough for the person who won! Even his coach (dad?) was immediately worried as hell about Dale a few seconds after the race was over. Thats just brutal that this crash killed Dale, compared to some of the Nascar crashes we have seen since then.
I remember seeing this and thinking how could he have been killed in such a minor crash. They are buckled in tight with the roll cages, helmet, etc...I've seen crashes where the car does multiple cartwheels, catching on fire but the driver survives. This one puzzled me. I'd heard he'd had a heart attack later on but not sure if that was true.
I once spoke with a man in the pits of a local track who was part of the early promotion team for the HANS Device. He said he offered one to Dale Sr. about a month before he died. His fatal head injury was exactly what the HANS Device was designed to prevent and may have saved his life. Dale was old school and declined. In Dale's defense it was brand new technology and not that well known. They also look kind of uncomfortable although racers I know say they aren't bad to wear. It was a crying shame to have lost him that way. If his wreck had happened a year or so later he may have been wearing one.
I don't remember the blatant rooting for certain drivers by the tv crew. How would you like to have a car in the race only to hear the announcers rooting wildly for their friends and family in the other cars? What am I missing here?
I gotta say the best way this could of gone down was where dale sr was seriously injured, but not killed, as such where they would make safety improvements and dale sr could still be alive today.
Did they do autopsy on him What i see car went down First then he went up Could it be heart attack Im not saying crash could or couldn't kill him because i dont watch alot races But i do watch cop
DW is right, TV doesn't show just how bad a wreck like that is. I've watched that wreck maybe 500 times, and STILL to this day it didn't look that bad.
The fact that Darryl Waltrip was not immediately fired for his blatant cheerleading is the single most important reason, among many, that I completely lost interest in NASCAR. He proved on that day that NASCAR is no more credible a sport than professional wrestling and roller derby.
I was watching this race and I remember seeing a shot of Dale deep in thought or prayer before the race. I had a really bad feeling. I always thought one of the other drivers nudged his car, but it doesn’t look like it. I’ve never watched another race after that day.😢
I still cannot imagine a crash like that taking a NASCAR driver's life. I've seen cars barrel roll 27 times, catch fire, and the driver walked away. This....was just shocking.
I talked to s NASCAR track official who claimed that Dale Sr would start to unbuckle his harness everytime on the last lap. Not sure how true this was. Either way we loss the G.O.A.T. in any race that has been ever run.
"TV does not do that impact justice". True.
Yes it was a pretty hard hit. But that is one of the fallacies of a basal skull fracture. You don't have to hit that hard for it to happen inside a driver's head. That's why amateur racers, driving a lot slower speeds, wear HANS Devices too.
I still get choked up watching this 17 years later.
I will remember this day for the rest of my life. ArabStunna311. Wtf? Whats your problem?
I was in high school at the time, I was watching it live with my family. My dad always rooted for sr and I agree it was never the same after that. It’s still emotional for me and I turned 40 this year.
Not a NASCAR fan either but I did watch the race at my local pub with some friends then went home. My mates called me and told me the sad news!
At
Least he died doing what he loved
Yes, that's what a woman up the road said when her husband's ATV rolled over on him and killed him.
I don't think I've ever had such a swing in emotions, from being sad to laughing so hard.
Matthew P Blocking faster cars
God! I hate when people say that.
jstrahan2 though I just said it today after reading the whole story of his death, I don't like it either but it's true. Btw there were sooo many ironies in his death😱!
Darryl waltrip's commentary, and the emotion he showed here are a signature moment in Nascar history.
Earnhardt lost control trying to pass a other. Period.
I was 6 years old and this was my first race. Even then, the house fell silent and I knew then that something wasn't right. It haunts me now...
Andria Fisher it was fake
CoderC CoderC dale did die
CoderC how It was fake it he died from the accident think before you talk
Andria Fisher I was 7 watching this at a restaurant with my parents 2001 was a horrible year 9/11 happened 7 months after.
i never saw this until now
Dale Earnhardt SR was a great NASCAR driver in the past before he died at the final lap of The 2001 Daytona 500.
He was great in the past before he died. LMAO.
Wow you are blind. the only good thing Jeff did was that Camaro test drive prank.
RF Jordan Jeff Gordon is the new intimidator . Earnhardt was a wimp he was only going 40mph I think I was the only one cheering when he hit that wall.
Matt Smith LMAO @ only 40 mph. Are you trying to troll or really that dumb?
Spaceman Spliff He would have been alive today if he didn't smoke all that meth before the race. Rest in peace legend of life.
I was never a huge NASCAR fan, but for Christmas of 2000 I got a remote control Dale Earnhardt Sr. car and loved it.
The human body is so unpredictable. I've seen these guys walk away from flaming roll overs after smashing the wall, and they get out without a scratch. And this "small" crash did him in
Yeah but they didn't hit a wall head on at over 100 miles an hour
my parents named me after him in 2000 and he died a year later a day before my birthday(I was born on Daytona) and it's fucking surreal to watch this
Sabaktes that's screwed up
nah thats dope. go buy a shirt.
So you guys are a bunch of hilljacks... Cool...
Chris Last That was pretty lame man. All you could come up with is me eating Spaghetti O's? A world of possibilities and you chose that? You might as well have said "You big dumb dumb" or "My dad can beat up your dad". Try harder when you get out of school today.
Your parents must be dedicated fans
Its still amazes me how people can't understand how this wreck killed Dale. He was turned straight up into the wall almost head on and hit by another car in the side at the same time. The amount of G-forces put on his body would have been unreal. Listen to Waltrip he is instantly concerned because as a driver he understands the kind of impact that a crash like that causes. Sad because if he had been wearing a Hans device he probably would have survived this accident.
That change of direction into the wall only slowed him down 8 - 12 mph tops, he hit the wall at at least 170mph.
Yep, 100mph into a wall and then blind sided by a car going 80mph when not wearing the proper restraints = a bad time
Chris H stop being an asshat you have no idea what your talking about, the g force did not kill him it was the impact and how fast the impact was
Asher Neal That's a G-Force man.. lol
Chris H wait so this accident essentially had the same effect as a hanging? It snapped his neck?
18/02/01 - 18/02-16...15 years. R.I.P The Intimidator. :(
ursuss100 now 16
Yeah
16 years later. Dale Jr is retiring after this 2017 season. Dale SR didn’t get to see him finish his great career 😥
Tristan _ but at least they had the chance to work together period, for many years, I assume? 😳
I love how Daryl was first to ask about Dale soon after the race
2001 was a rough year all around. I was in college at the time, and I was in our apartment studying that day- just like on 9/11. "If he can survive this run he'll be okay"...
Bet that guy felt like shit afterwards.
Salvador Buttkiss was he specifically talking about Dale Sr? I noticed that sentence too and thought the irony...
J. W. That was Darrell Waltrip referring to how his brother just needed to hang on for one more lap to win. Darrell was actually one of Dale's good friends you can hear in this broadcast how the joy for his brother winning is quickly overtaken by concern for Dale.
Also talking about Dale Jr. "at a dead run" to the scene was not a great choice of words...
"If he can survive this run he'll be ok." Unfortunately he literally did not survive the run :(
Nathan Bishop they weren't talking about him.
Nathan Bishop I just thought about it so bad and sad
Too soon
They were talking about Michael Waltrip not DE.
He was talking about waltrip, not dale, idiot.
I Feel Bad For Dale Earnhart Jr. 😢
Sad knowing he was also in the race with his dad
itsmejohny yep he came in 2nd place was gonna take first but when he saw the wreck behind him it scared him and he slowed down I wouldn't blame him he was worried about his dad
Can't believe he kept racing and right away too!
Bronz Modz
He was "ahead of his time".
why did Dale die from THIS impact? It is just hard to imagine... :( RIP
+AndiBrot When Dale hit the wall, his head flew forward into the steering wheel then went sideways causing the fatal injury at the base of his skull.
AndiBrot As the commentator said, the TV does not do this crash justice. This impact was horrifically dangerous. The car went full force, 200 mph into an unmoving wall. AndiBrot he had a heart attack then crashed into the wall
he refused to use the hans device that is now mandatory
Just because dale thought the headgear was uncomfortable. Rip him
Such a joyous moment for Mikey and Darrell only to be overshadowed by a dark moment for NASCAR and the Earnhardt family.
i was in college when this happened and i remember one of my classes we took a test and my professor saying that if Dale won the race we would all get an A. Knowing what had happened and seeing the pain and sadness on his face is something I'll never forget.
I gave up on NASCAR without the Intimidator,and..I couldn’t stand him but it wasn’t the same sport without him.
Me too.
I remember this like yesterday..
I rooted for Dale E since the mid 80's and I was so damn sure that he was alright after this crash, I went for a walk after the race. My son was at his house watching the race and broadcast afterwards and when the announcement was made that Dale was killed, he called me immediately but I wasn't home. Wow. On the last lap. That crash into the wall was far worse than what it looked like on TV.
December 26, 2024. And we still miss him.🙏
Worst day in motor sports history.
There have much more worse days.
I still get goosebumps to this day. We miss you Dale!
I remember watching this live and having a weird feeling that he wouldn't survive this crash
Maybe because they are going 100's of km an hr straight into a fucking wall

Lol, when Ann Marie Richwine dies, she'll be one less loser piece of s***
A1 1980 I hate liberals fucktard.Learn a new insult calling me liberal isnt going to work.
He probably didn't feel anything. When he hit the wall the force of the impact snapped his neck; instant death.
I'm sorry that this sounds disrespectful but this is why sticking with the old ways is a terrible idea. Things change for a good reason.
Dang on the last lap? What a bummer
this was the day Nascar died too-and I wasn't a Earnhardt fan but I had a lot of respect for him and I knew he was good for this sport-I admit Dale was starting to grow on me a little but not enough to say I was a fan
The nick name intimidater was givin to Earnhardt ,if he didn't have the car or skill to win he would result to purposely wrecking a fellow driver. The intimidater doesn't fit as well as the cheater.
I remember this like it was yesterday I’ll never forget so tragic
original footage how come I saw you turning up your iPod speaker if it was not recorded there on that iPod I doubt it then it would not be switching positions it would stay in one seat row in the same space the whole time.
because its a screen recording from a VHS. And its not monetized thank you very much. (IT WAS A MAC BOOK FYI)
I see that Dales car lost control before cutting in front of the yellow car and then crashing into the wall. Did he have a heart attack? Then lose control then hit that wall?
No
Was a sad day.
He was my favorite... R.I.P Dale Earnhardt Sr. #3
I was 15 years old when this happened. Never forget that Sunday.
When he says, I hope Dales alright, he is alright isn't he? Brings me to tears! ❤,,🙏
Daryl is so emotional calling the end of this race as if he knew or felt something would or had gone terribly wrong
My girlfriend at the time was throwing my birthday party (my bday is 19th) and had my family over. She was the biggest Earnhardt fan. Needless to say Dale’s tragic death ended the party and really changed our relationship. It had a big impact on us and of course her fandom for him. R.I.P.
Between this and the 9/11 attacks, 2001 was a terrible year
Brandon Votaw
2001 is illumanati
its cursed
but ppl say his seatbelt broke and then he had a heart attack
At 5:16 they made the call
Cause of death, drove into wall
The intimidator collided with Ken Schrader
And then he died 2 seconds later
Jr was screaming and saddening
Not me.. nope
I was the only one laughing
I stood in the crowd with a smile on my face
I was almost certain a Nascar fan would spray me with mace
But instead they sat there with grief
Only to wish, they had more than 8 teeth
I didn't want to make this poem cause I knew it was mean
But then I thought well Earnhardt...
You should have raced clean.
- Weregonnalose
Pretty foul, dude.
@@30AndHatingIt I didn't make it. Source: th-cam.com/video/pB48EkY95jc/w-d-xo.html
What did Dale Earnhardt have in common with Pink Floyd?
Last big hit was the wall.
I was at that race when this happened stunned and crying like so many other fans, I still miss Dale the real 3
These long camera shots don't do justice to just how fast and how much ground is covered by these cars...
Why did two other drivers died from the same reason before him before something was done.
He died so his son could win this race. I'm sure he didn't go into it thinking he was gonna die, but I'm also pretty sure he would've done it any way.
did weregonnalose bring you here?
James Norton YES
James Norton No but I can see how. LOL
I never will forget it.
this guy was such a legend imagin if he finishedhes career
For me, any interest in NASCAR ended that day. It could never be the same.
Racing has never been the same. Haven’t watched it much since then.
Saddest day in NASCAR, Still brings tears to my eyes 😢
I retired from General Motors 5 year's later and he made me so proud week after week year after year NASCAR has never been the same.....
RIP Dale Earnhardt. You were a great race car driver.
I think Theresa already knew.
Did they ever prove another car made contact? Looks like he might have passed out or had a seizure or something prior to losing control.
It really did look like a minor collision with the wall. The speed can't be conveyed when watching on TV.
“If he can survive this run he’ll be okay” little bit of foreshadowing
i remember watching this live that day, unbeknownst to us all it was going to be a horrible year..............
I don't remember the blatant rooting for certain drivers by the tv crew. How would you like to have a car in the race only to hear the announcers rooting wildly for their friends and family in the other cars? What am I missing here?
This video did not show the crash. it showed everything but the crash. Clickbait : too late
I gotta say the best way this could of gone down was where dale sr was seriously injured, but not killed, as such where they would make safety improvements and dale sr could still be alive today.
It was called a helmet. Fasten it.
Shouldn't have refused to wear a Hans device
1:10 “If he can survive this run he’ll be okay”
RIP to the Intimidator
Did they do autopsy on him
What i see car went down
First then he went up
Could it be heart attack
Im not saying crash could or couldn't kill him because i dont watch alot races
But i do watch cop
DW is right, TV doesn't show just how bad a wreck like that is. I've watched that wreck maybe 500 times, and STILL to this day it didn't look that bad.
Haven't watched a NASCAR race since this.
This is a couple different times ago
Why don't they show dash cam?
Jim Dickenson probably didn’t have one
he might be like elvis, stil alive
Did he dieded?
this was the day my interest in nascar died as well rip to the greatest driver that ever lived Dale Earnhardt Sr
“I hope Dale’s ok…”
Good man.
I watched it happen live. 9 times out of 10 then Dale Sr. would have walked away from that crash.
This was the 10th time.
R.I.P. Intimidator 🕊
Dale Earnhardt and Pink Floyd.... both last big hit was the wall
clever
I was running from the cops this day. Had to turn myself in after the race.
Complete report of Dale Earnhardt Fatal Crash www.autopsyfiles.org/reports/policereport/earnhardt%20crash_report.pdf
That was the last NASCAR race I will ever watch as long as i live. It is a horrible brutal and deadly sport.
My parents named me Dale after Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Your parents are idiots
Lol 😂 your parents sound pathetic
Dale I feel sorry for your mother
They didn't. Nobody just simply has their real first name as their youtube username. Your parents are idiots if they did that...
Dale You dranking that Budweiser?
The fact that Darryl Waltrip was not immediately fired for his blatant cheerleading is the single most important reason, among many, that I completely lost interest in NASCAR. He proved on that day that NASCAR is no more credible a sport than professional wrestling and roller derby.
Famn that was amazing to see this footage. All the people crying for different reasons. Wow. Had mo clue about the story surrounding Dales death.
With his anniversary today its crazy watching this.
RIP. I stopped watching NASCAR on this day😢
One of the saddest days of my life. And I’m a Rusty Wallace fan.
the crash dont even look that bad. what killed him?
