ONE CHANCE : Six Days To Save The World
I had a friend who was a huge NASCAR fan. He tried and tried to get me into watching. I finally agreed and this was the first race I ever watched start to finish. Obviously. I knew who Dale Earnhardt was. I knew he was one of the biggest names in the sport. To lose him on the first race I watched, I almost felt like I jinxed him. DW seemed like the only one who was immediately concerned about Dale. A happy as he was for his little brother, he kept looking back and saying, "I hope Dale's alright." Very sad day. I didn't watch another race until Carl Edwards started driving the Aflac car. (I worked for Aflac at the time.)
Just an absolute bad fluke. The amount of NASCAR and Indy car crashes that are head-on into walls at full speed going into corners and turned into walls on the straight and collected by several other drivers is in the hundreds and yet they walk away. If this was always a fatality, then the sport would be revised. It’s a crazy fluke, just like Justin Wilson’s death by a wheel
Clickbait don't watch
This is all a conspiracy he was gonna expose the Clinton’s for child prostitution
My dad was watching this, as we all were since we were all at home. But my dad was the big NASCAR fan. It didn't seem like a bid deal at first. Then it slowly sank in.
I'm from SC. my buddy and I went to Daytona Beach that weekend for the first and only time.. That morning the news paper was dedicated to Dale, his accomplishments, family, ect.. He never blocked for anyone, said he never would . He was blocking for his son that day...
I’m an F1 fan and was over my in-laws house for dinner when this accident happened. It came over the news and I was absolutely shocked when I heard about it. My in-laws never heard of dale Earnhardt before and I tried to tell them of his significance in NASCAR racing but they just shrugged their shoulders. I guess if you’re not a racing fan, you just don’t get it.
The human neck can only withstand so much, especially without a Hans device.
The rumor was Dale's head broke off during that accident.
I remember when Earnhardt was complaining about restrictor plate racing. He said those guys need to wrap kerosene rags around their ankles so the ants wouldn’t reach their candy asses.
I was watching this race when that happened and it was so sad 😢
I had no idea the race was just about over .m
if ken schrader was just a bit more forward theyd have both come out of that crash unscathed
My beloved wife Jill was Michael Waltrip's personal private flight attendant from 2006 to 2014 when MWR (Michael Waltrip Racing) still had three planes (two props, one jet). Jill adored Michael and always made sure his needs were taken care of when in flight. In 2014 Michael shut down his plane operations and sold his planes. Jill was then laid off, and she retired after a combined 43 years as a flight attendant (35 years with major carriers before MWR). A few years ago I wrote a letter to Michael and told him Jill would love to hear from him. No reply!! Jill was hurt but tried to hide and deflect the hurt. So much for famous people who get so self-absorbed that they think their you-know-what doesn't stink.
Why did this man have to die in my reality? To have seen him live through this and probably become one of the best race teams ever in NASCAR. Not only in NASCAR life. The things that he could have accomplished would have been amazing to see. 😢 . I really do think of him everyday. Him and my father. 😢
"I just hope Dale's ok." I never can listen to those words without tearing up.
Sterling knows what he did...and he'll have to live with that moment the rest of his life.
Still hurts 💔
QUIT WATCH ING NASCAR THAT DAY .....
One of the few times I witnessed my father shed tears. At 9 years old I gave him the news after a friend of his called and confirmed.
I still remember this 😢😢😢😢
2:33-2:47 gets me every time 😢
Three reasons people go to NASCAR races: 1. Watch crashes. 2. See Boobs..
Watching this live on tv you didn’t think it was anything serious when it first happened. 2001 was a year of tragedy
What a horrible fu_ked up day this was ! Hated how his safety harness didn't stop his head from hitting the steering wheel . God be w/ all his Family for the rest of there Lives !
Daryl: I just Dale's okay, I guess he's all right isn't he? Still gives me chills till this day😢
It's their life, not there life!
Basically going from 180 to 0 mph in the blink of an eye. Nobody survives that.
So sad last lap too. He was like a corner or two away from surviving. Can’t imagine how Jr felt finding out is dad passed. A dark day for NASCAR.
Celebrating someone’s win while some cars crashed ? Sick
they never even MENTION his death!
He wasn’t pronounced dead until later in the evening at a press conference.
This video did not show the crash. it showed everything but the crash. Clickbait : too late
I watched it happen live. 9 times out of 10 then Dale Sr. would have walked away from that crash. This was the 10th time. R.I.P. Intimidator 🕊
Death dy restrictor plate.
Wow. On the last lap. That crash into the wall was far worse than what it looked like on TV.
Daryl is so emotional calling the end of this race as if he knew or felt something would or had gone terribly wrong
Never understood race car driving? Waste of fuel and now waste of life.
Did they do autopsy on him What i see car went down First then he went up Could it be heart attack Im not saying crash could or couldn't kill him because i dont watch alot races But i do watch cop
Was a sad day.

“If he can survive this run he’ll be okay” little bit of foreshadowing
Trump would say that illegal immigrants caused this crash, and his cult members would believe it
I was watching that live the day that changed NASCAR.
I was there🇺🇸😎✌Didnt know till I got home
He went from like 185mph to zero after hitting the wall.
We still miss u Dale
my daddy be so proud.
The safety features were and are unprecedented, but that does not make the chances of being killed 0%. High risk, questionable returns. No thanks.
Safety was WAY more lax back then. Even still, Dale WAS Nascar, and was given leniency in areas - safety included - that other drivers did not get. Loose belts, improperly installed belts, open face helmets, and refusal to wear a HANS device (though this was not yet mandatory) all contributed to his death. Though he wasn't a martyr, his death has probably saved hundreds over the years, as all motorsports were impacted by his passing. Developments and regulations in the area of safety went through the roof in response to his death.
BOO HOO if he couldnt pass ya , he would wreck ya too win , couldnt stand the guy, KARMA a real BITCH
I remember watching this race
