  • I ingested nothing except for water & electrolyte salts for 14 days (aka a "14 day water fast")... and I survived! Here's how and why that all works.

What I noticed is that you will save so much money, time stands still so find something to do to keep you busy, do not watch tv because all they show is food commercials and you will not sleep much! My dear sister, right now I am am fasting. The main reason for this is because I am overwhelmed but most of all, I have a chronic problem with the lack of sleep for the past 39 years. I know that if I were to be a drinker, smoker, I would have been dead a long time ago. No drugs , just pain meds, and sleep meds giving by the Department of Veterans Affairs . This is the second time in 2 weeks that I have been fasting. I am not a healthy person due to an injury in the military back in 1971. So I am 70 years old, but I feel that fasting is going to help me at least with my lack of sleep and at the same time lose weight, because I have the weight of a PIG. ( A little bit of HUMOR during these times of crisis. ) I am excepting better results. Thanks for your video.. Best ti you. Talking about headache, I live with it,,due to the lack of sleep. ..due to medical issues, urination at least a dozen times a night,,prostate removal, then try to get back to sleep. That is not normal, nor a good thing, as living a quality of life. Again I enjoy your views and the video, it gives me hope. Gracias Thanks. AMEN TO THAT.

Eating disorders are actually anabolic, that is they are actually the condition where you find yourself unable to go for 3-4 hours without food. Fasting is the cure for this.
What people think of when they speak of eating disorder is actually anorexia, and that has nothing to do with your metabolism. Anorexia is strictly a mental issue based on a skewed body image, and surprisingly enough fasting helps this too.
I fast every week for 72 hours, eating breakfast on Tuesday and not eating anything until Friday lunch/dinner, depending on how busy I am on fridays. I’ve been doing this only for the last month and without a doubt I am in the best shape of my life.

Hey that’s awesome!! Just please be careful when you eat again. After long fasts, it’s best to eat very small amounts of food for the first few days. I know a lot of people go all out on the Fourth of July in terms of food, so please just take it easy if that is when you decide to break your fast. I can say personally, as I’m on day 6, with two kids to cook for…it’s rough at times! Especially when I make something divine and there’s plenty of extras that I normally would scarf down…
Last night I made them bacon wrapped beef balls on the smoker with cream cheese inside, and for dessert I mixed raw heavy cream from a local farm, with full fat Greek yogurt, and powdered freeze dried strawberries from our garden. Whipped it up into a whipped cream like concoction in the kitchenaid mixer, didn’t even need honey as the strawberry powder was so intensely sweet. It smelled like heaven.

I have fasted (water only) for 14 and 18 days. It’s easy but I felt tired and list a lot of muscle. I am small (89 pounds usually as my set point, and lean. I think I didn’t have enough muscle to lose to make it as esssy as it could have been: I was tired abd wobbly as I walked and carried heavy luggage; my brain functioned fine however everything was slightly slowed down - I saw a videotape of myself on day 14, nobody else could tell anything was off, but I was a bit slower reaching for objects and asking and answering questions, though I was able to. It’s a great relief not to need to think about food; if the thought occurs you just say “oh yeah? I’m not eating.” Or “I do not eat.” No need to purchase, obtain food or eat it or clean up! So much extra time found in the day! I wanted to co tinue fir 30 days and it was a hard choice but I had a client who needed me to perform tasks and was worried I would not do my absolute best for them if I went further. I’ve never gone longer than about 18 days. I prefer a modest varied diet with no forbidden foods, and lots of movement (ideally swimming fir a couple of hours a day....hard bc I don’t have my own lap pool and the pandemic had closed pools where I live). Best talk- listen to your bodies; do be aware that if you are lean you may lose a lot more muscle than you ideally would .....

I did a 7 day fast 2 weeks ago and I found the experience great. I lost only 2kg (down to 71kg from 73kg) and I'm looking to do a 3 week fast. However, I'm really worried about gaining back all the weight I'm going to lose. Whenever I'm not doing a multi day fast, I always do OMAD and it's highly keto, but I do eat large portions and I'm really afraid to get all of the weight back because after not having eaten for 3 weeks, your body will get food back every 24 hours which will be way more than the past 3 weeks when it got nothing...

To break a fast safely, it's best to drink fresh orange juice to put the acid back into your digestive system for 2 days. Then on the 3rd day a glass of oj in the morning and some broth in the mid morning, lunch a small salad and at supper a small salad with a small piece of meat or protein. Then the next morning an egg or 2 and the eat smaller meals and drink lots of water. Lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps with the digestion and is a liver cleanser and helps with the lymphatic system. Also, helps with ridding body of extra water weight.

My brother did one for 14. One for 11 days. And twice for 7 days. He made me do a 7 day one...that was the plan. I fainted on day 4. Precisely after 87 hours of being on water only. My BP fell a lot. I went down to 85/54 ....hence my usual BP is 100-110/60-65. My blood sugar is at 70-74 and has been so since past 2 decades whenever tested. I wasn't feeling hungry after day 2, but did not feel energetic. It was scary for the family because I just got up and straight away crashed. I don't remember fainting but as I fell I broke the curtain rods , as the curtains broke my fall . I was standing in the balcony and fell into my living room. I fell sideways to my right side. Luckily no injury and everyone was around and saw me crash. I am otherwise a fairly active person and at a good weight for my height. My BMI is 23. I was doing this fast for inducing autophagy and a deep detox. However I feel not every one of us can straight away jump into a 14 day fast or even a 7 day fast. I would do a water and juice fast for 7 days first before I attempt another only water fast... Better to go slow than to land in trouble. Kudos to those who can straight away do this. They have good nutrient dense bodies I guess and their body can rely on stored nutrition to survive!

I'm on day 3 of (hopefully) a 7-day fast, and I find it IMPOSSIBLE to do on just plain water, even with a dash of salt. I get really weak and shaky. If I drink Zero Vitamin Water, I can get past some of the more difficult stretches, but with plain water and a dash of salt, I get so weak and lightheaded I couldn't continue. The Zero Vitamin Water seems to make a huge difference in my ability to go without food; at least at this point in the fast.

The weight doesn’t come back unless you go back to eating the way you ate to have extra weight in the first place.

    Again, great job!

    • @motomac3285
      @motomac3285 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The evidence is in the fact fasting works. For me (OMAD and short term fasts) it’s been about 1(kg in 6 weeks.
Once you’ve fasted and calorie restricted enough to get your weight down to a healthy level, when you break the fast your weight may and probably will increase. As a minimum you’ll put on water weight.
So? You already fasted successfully - you know how to do it. Just fast again for a shorter period to keep the weight under control.
No diet says once it’s over you just go back to eating and living like you did and the weight stays off…

You can increase your risk of gastrointestinal issues, high insulin spike etc. Break the fast with a 50/50 mix coconut water & water or 50/50 Oj & water in small amounts every hour to see how you respond. She hasn’t gained the wait back either. Bottom line: to each it’s own but I would recommend not doing this if you have mental/ physical issues with food. If you already started please be careful and stop 🛑 immediately your body becomes weak or you get sick. No point in fasting yourself to get seriously ill or fasting to death.

I did about a 6 day fast (water, black coffee, zero sugar soda).
A few days in and the headaches were too much - I couldn’t do anything.
I started taking mineral supplements - magnesium, and multi pills with phosphate and things - but they didn’t seem to really help. I think not a high enough dose in the recommended allowance.
Anyway I decided to eat again to break the fast. I found that bananas (high in phosphates) really seems to help. So these days I’m “one snack a day” which means just eating a banana, maybe and apple and perhaps 30g of mixed unsalted nuts or some small protein.
With that the headaches seem to be controllable and the weight is still dropping off.
I couldn’t drink salted water - made me want to vomit.

Every body is different! I’m glad you’re finding something that works towards your goals 😊
And yes you have to have so much salt in order to make up for what you’re not eating. It was like a full dish worth a day when I measured it out so it’s no surprise a pill or two wouldn’t make a difference.

It could of been the Black Coffee causing you issues. Black Coffee = Caffeine unless it’s labeled decaffeinated - just a thought.

I would try Organic (Grass fed is best) Chicken or Beef bone broth, 2 tbsp EVOO, and/or a healthy Smoothie after breaking a fast :)
Great job at your 2 week fast!

I prescribe to the "Chinese mom" way of cooking lol, so basically no particular recipe, use what I have. Haha...
The salmon I air fried at around 170C for 25minutes. I just rubbed it with some thyme and salt.
The cucumber on top was cut into strips and put into a sesame sauce with yogurt, overnight in the fridge (I'd actually made it for a different dish and had too much of it).
The fried egg & tomato dish is a Chinese staple. Fry the eggs first til they are just a bit runny, then put them into a separate plate. Cook the tomatos down in a neutral oil (like corn) with garlic and a splash of soy sauce. When they are soft and most of the liquid is evaporated, add the eggs back in. Sprinkle with chives.
      Hope that helps!
