The REAL Cost to Supercharge Your Hemi!

- After 500 miles of ripping my hellcat supercharged 5.7, I’m ready to discuss the real cost of supercharging your build. There’s a lot of misinformation out there and I wanted to set the record straight on what I did to make 577hp. I’ve spoken to many people over this last year who have thousands of miles on their builds so I am not the first!
Your comments keep me motivated! Let me know how I did!

Considering your expertise & availability, how much would it cost me to pay you to supercharge my 2018 5.7 hemi charger? All parts and labor included? Great content btw
Same or put a video out there on what are decent prices for labor like what are high balling prices etc
These are great questions. I will make a video on the labor side of things this month and take some time and think about what I would charge. Prices vary wildly and unfortunately install quality does as well
where are you based out of?
Supercharge my 3.6 😂idk why I’m here man just super curious on this interesting content good information I guess lol
@@OZM4N20ripp chargers are decent and cheap for v6s
$4,700 bucks to supercharge your 5.7? Bro, that's easily doubled up if you take it to a shop. Good on you!!!
Best car guy on TH-cam. Always very informative and detailed!!!
🥺🙏🏾Thanks bro
the clear dialect and well spoken on this entire series imo is most valuable
I have watched under two minutes of this video, and it is already clear that you are an intelligent, experienced, professional, voice of reason. Most people seem to focus and worry about just the engine. But there’s so much more to it especially in this age of computer control. Years ago when I was first learning about cars. I was told that the engine is actually the least important factor. Long time, engine builder and drag racer, Henry Jackson from cream Ridge New Jersey told me that the car itself is the most important part. You need a good solid body, chassis, rear, differential, brakes, steering, and transmission. The reasoning: you’re always going to be messing with the engine. I used to be an SRT fan and openly talk about how I hate what’s happened with the SRT culture, however, they did succeed in getting a very good platform out there in the hellcat and up trim. A lot of engineering and thinking, was taken care of so that you could get a very potent capable platform out of the box. Back engineering, a lesser platform is certainly possible but then you have all sorts of other related and downstream things to contend with. At the end of the day, for many dodge owners, the cheapest “Mod”, is an upgrade in vehicle. Hellcats are far from perfect so if you start with one, go after the weaknesses there like traction and put a real differential in the back like the drag pack cars have would be the way I would go if I ever went back to SRT.
Great points here. Thanks for sharing
Your informative and articulate. Thanks for the good information exactly the opposite of what I'm used to seeing from channels that deal with hellcats
You have no idea how helpful this whole series is. 🙏🙏🙏
🫡🙏🏾 happy to help. Send me pics of your build
Thank you for posting these videos for all of us to learn.
Appreciate y’all tuning in 🤝
Excellent information.
aye appreciate the shout out man🙏🏽 love what you're doing for the community
This is a very nice, informative video even for the casual viewers. Where can we get one of those fashionable CFR Ts?
Nice 💪🏼 🔥 can you make a video why we should run E85, thanks in advance. Thanks for the dope video
I’m trying to do this for my Daytona 5.7L. Thank you for your videos they are very informative. Anyway to connect if we have any questions? Trying to do this when I get all the parts…
Nvm I see on your website there’s consultations
What a great 4 video segment. I love listening to smart people when it comes to playing with cars. So I have a question Bernie. I have a 2019 new body style Ram 1500, 4x4 5.7 I bought new. She has 85K babied miles on her. 75% highway miles traveling. Never been off road. She has a 6 inch lift and I installed a Pulsar Computer programmer, and cold air intake. I am thinking about a whipple supercharger. Then I found your video.
Would really like to know your thoughts about sticking a supercharger on that 5.7 with those miles on her.
I've got an 05 model of the same. Am as curious as you are
Thanks! I have no concerns with supercharging an 85k mile engine. To me, new engines are more of a wildcard than “seasoned” ones. I’ll throw forced induction on a 200k+ mile engine without a care in the world. It’s just everything else attached that may fall apart from abuse. As long as your truck is healthy and your tune is solid, these are reliable upgrades!
@@CRASHBERN Perfect. Thanks brother.
I’ll be purchasing your consolation soon I need to put my car back together I took it apart almost two years ago and it’s just been sitting 😅 life has definitely been doing that life thing.
Definitely understand that
E85 = hotdog water (Alex 😅) iykyk. Great video man! I don’t have a 5.7 anymore but love the content
The science side of things are very interesting
Not a bad price, much cheaper than going with a ProCharger plus you get the factory look!
🎯🎯🎯
What’s the hp difference from whipple supercharger and the hellcat supercharger, if you all know?
@darryldz1290 hellcat blower is plenty capable of making far more than a stock engine can handle so it's moot imo. I don't think a 3 liter would make all that much more at pump gas stock motor boost levels. The hellcat blower would be much better for a stock engine better power curve.
That hood light is pretty nifty
One of the best tools I’ve bought
I'll keep this in mind for when I hemi or Ls swap my PT.
Baby Bentley Powah 💥
Hi, big fan!! I wish I can say I’m ready to convert my 2021 ram , I have so many ?, one big one is that the truck will be a daily driver and to haul a camper… say 500 miles a day for family vacations. How would it handle all those miles, what should I expect, what would the ware and tear be on such a vital piece of equipment?
I wouldn’t expect much different. Monitor the serpentine belt system, invest in all metal pulleys, and follow a severe interval for preventative maintenance
About 5k on equipment what would your cost be for labor and car delivered to you?
So do you install superchargers for people? I have a 2006 chrysler 300 srt8 6.1 hemi i want to put a supercharger on it? Are you in DC? i live in NVA
Everything else being equal, what do you think the output would be for this upgrade on a stock 6.4 since it's already at a higher state of tune from the factory?
I’d estimate low to mid 600s on a 6.4
just a curious question did you by chance change the trans or forged the internals or just bolted it on the 5.7 i’ve been plenty of videos saying we need the kit in order to bolt it on
Just bolted it on. Everything else is stock!
☄️☄️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 so I will be contacting you for help on my 442 hellcat work and keep the work. The videos are very informative
Thanks anytime🙏🏾
Can I put the hellcat supercharger on my 5.9 dodge ram
@@willcrump2942 not to my knowledge. The magnum 5.9 has a different intake spacing
Greetings! New fan here, guessing you're in Ohio? (Pursuit looks like a Old Ohio SP cruiser) Will YOU take on new customers for installation?
I’ve been planning on doing this but don’t have a tuner near me sadly what would happen if I ran without a tune?
You would have to work with a remote tuner. The car will go into limp mode when boosted
I provided Bernie with his startup tune before he got it dyno’d, I can provide remote tuning. I specialize in hellcat supercharged 5.7/6.1/6.4
Idk why watching that price breakdown felt so scary then you said $4734 and I was very surprised, might have to get started with mine, everything you went through would you say it was in order what to get first to last?
Haha yes it was in order for the most part. Once I got the deal on the supercharger, I knew everything else was easily available on websites
@@CRASHBERNdo you think the sup charger will fit the 2004 dodge Ram hemi engine or just the newer ones?
Can you run the supercharger on the 5.7 without a boost controller?
Yes, but it won’t build boost. Need a controller to close the bypass
What about a whipple system?
It’ll likely cost $3-4k more if you buy the whipple new. However, marketplace has deals from time to time and you may end up cheaper IF the used kit you buy is complete
where did you purchase your supercharger from bernie ?
lol
Would this work on a 2006 dodge ram 1500 5.7?
Yes, you’d need a serpentine belt adapter meant just for the Ram trucks though
is it possible to do the hellcat supercharger swap on a 5.7 rt while under warranty 2023 charger rt
It’s possible but you will probably void your warranty.
It’s possible but the service department will deny any warranty claim that they can link to your supercharger install. For example, if your rear differential fails - some dealerships will say the extra power from this upgrade was the cause and then refuse to repair for free
You can do whatever you want under warranty but don't expect them to actually cover anything lol. My advice stop worrying about the warranty and just do what you wanna do just do your homework and be smart about your mods.
Are there any 392 Durango’s out there who’ve added a HC sc? I have yet to meet one person who’s done it and got s 2018 I love but NEED more powaaaa
Makes two of us. You could be the first!
Do u think its possible to install dual hellcat pumps in the stock basket?
Definitely. Steve white motors has a kit that retains the stock basket but has an aluminum hat
@@CRASHBERN thanks gonna look into it
Cool Hemi Content You answered questions I had Thnxxx & I Subscribed 🫡😎🫡
I have a 2014 charger former cop car does this information cover that year
Same process for that year
Will the 5.7 blow up if puts in supercharger and pushing 650hp
This is such a loaded question. Anything can blow up of its not tuned and driven properly even stock vehicles. When pushing the envelope you need to use best fuel possible. I.e. it's more likely to live at high power levels with e85 vs 91 pump gas just as an example. When pushing it you wanna have as much octane as you can or use e85. It's much more likely to stay alive at elevated power levels.. this goes with any engine when pushing it.
You make over 500 hp with only the super charger or is that also a stage 3 cam or paired with other mods?
Stock cam and bottom end. Just the supercharger and intake
@@CRASHBERN thanks for the information
DMV👍👍👍👍
Do you need to do MDS delete?
Yes, the tuner will disable MDS
2014 Dodge Ram 4 x 4 5.7 can you do the same thing to a truck that you can do with a car
Yes, the Ram trucks have a different serpentine belt adapter kit though
@@CRASHBERN where are you located at if I got my truck to you how much would you charge to do it
I’m in Virginia, not taking on customers at the moment.
I wanna do this bad but I feel like my 5.7 engine has a little bit of mileage on it so something is gonna blow..
I’d consider it if I were you. I have 130k, no real concerns here
Can you supercharge a 2004 dodge ram?
Not sure why, but 2003 & 2004 Hemis are excluded. I suspect it’ll work but cannot say for sure what the difference is
5k ain’t bad considering the prebuilt kits are like 8k and look no where near as cool as
🎯🎯🎯 Sourcing replacement parts and blowers are a breeze too
Can you help me super charger my 5.7? I'll wrench lol
