    Great video! The only thing about this video is you made a comment that said it was not a pro level camera because it has some gimmicks like soft skin affect. I am not sure that is an accurate statement. The features and quality of the sensor combined with several other things like weather sealing is what makes a camera pro level. I have not tried this camera out yet so I cannot make an assumption that it is or is not pro level. Once people start to compare image quality and video against competitors then we will be able to really see if it compares to pro level. Thanks for sharing!

      Manuel Lemus Pro level isn't generally about IQ. It's more about handling, shooting speed etc. Compare this to a D4 from Nikon and that's a true pro level camera. IMO, this is an incredible, high end prosumer camera. I love it! :-)

    I use an external HDMI studio monitor. Have you found a way to display the camera menus over HDMI? I've dug through all menus and it doesn't seem to be there.

    Very helpful Wayne. Cheers.

    Another unboxing for the A7rii indicated the camera came with two batteries. They also got a battery charger, and an external power supply. Did yours come with these?
    The said the bracket was for the HDMI, so it does not pull out or break when attached tot eh camera.

    just because it has a lot of automated modes doesn't make it a non-pro camera. having additional features that a professional doesn't has no effect on the pro features the camera has.

    • @WayneGoodmanPhotography
      @WayneGoodmanPhotography  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      wonderwall135 Hi, the pro level cameras I've used previously have been laid out differently and handled differently, therefore I stick to my statement. However it is certainly a very highly spec'd high end prosumer model.

    Choosing 18 mpix does not crop. I tried it and it still covers all of the full frame lens

    Hey Wayne I'm using sony a7rii with metabone & canon lens 50mm 1.8f, and I can't find 42mp in image size, any help?

    What lenses do you have on the A7 in this video?

  • @teemohnay

    No offense. But this is not a full review. You obviously don't understand a great deal about this camera. This is more of an introductory first look at the menu system. I do however appreciate this video. Thank you :)

    Raw files can only be for 42 Mega Bites? or can I use it for 18M or 11M ?

      thats exactly what I wanna know!

    • @TorbenCASchwartz
      @TorbenCASchwartz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Raw file is a direct readout from the sensor and as far as I know it is not possible to make a RAW file "cropped". Though I do not strictly understand why this is the case, I would imagine if the sensor could be instructed to, for example, "turn off" certain pixels then perhaps it would be possible

      holsteincowboy Ah yeah. Panamoz is normally cheaper than them (I haven't used either) but I like to buy from the UK. Their channel is great though!

    what I find really funny in a sarcastic way, is everyone who argued with me for the last five years, when I told them mirrorless is the future, are all now jumping on the bandwagon like as if they knew it all along

    • @rafaelquirindongo
      @rafaelquirindongo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +photographerjonathan Exactly right. I've been using mirrorless since the NEX 7 and have used everything in between to the now A7RII. I would show up at a shoot and some photographers, taking a quick look at the camera, decided they couldn't take the camera, or me, seriously. There will always be those that resist change and progress. The Sony A7RII is one of the best cameras in the full frame world. Tech, in the right hands, can greatly facilitate creative expression.

      Aleksei Grigorev I can certainly give it a go. I'll see if I can get something sorted for you, at a high ISO of around 12800.

    Wayne's got G.A.S. For flash check out Nissin i40 great small flash for Sony

    • @WayneGoodmanPhotography
      @WayneGoodmanPhotography  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ObelixCMM Fantastic flash but a little larger than I need for general use. It will be my choice for events if this camera becomes more of a feature amongst my equipment though.

    • @ObelixCMM
      @ObelixCMM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wayne's got G.A.S. In my opinion anything with smaller guide number is just waste of money, I have Sony HVL-F20M and use it only as a trigger for Nissin i40 and HVL-f58AM

      Wayne's got G.A.S. Yes, that's right! Table lamp, dim lights. Children getting ready for bed,,,
      Children move just a bit - very interesting - will work-if autofocus

    I cannot believe someone would make review without knowing even the most basic thigs about the camera. Even things easy to check in minutes, like different JPG sizes camera produces.

  • @WayneGoodmanPhotography
    @WayneGoodmanPhotography  9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Augsberg, yes that's correct, two batteries and a mains charger. Sony have finally listened. Ah so that's what the bracket is for, thanks

  • @freyaalice4317

    saying that something is "just the usual stuff" is not helpful for someone who is new and doesn't know anything about the camera, I was hoping for someone to explain what everything means

    You "THINK 18 megapixels crops it down." You THINK????? If you don't know, then why the hell are you making a video. Why the hell is this the first video that TH-cam suggests. The video where the guy is just guessing his way through.

    great review of an overpriced junky overheating camera.
    As with all Sony products, it will be obsolete in 9 months and of course Sony does NOT service their own cameras, they outsource it.

    • @WayneGoodmanPhotography
      @WayneGoodmanPhotography  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Theoria Apophysis Mine has never overheated once and I don't feel it's over-priced when you take into account the amount of tech encompassed within such a relatively small body. I doubt you've used it yourself substantially, if at all, and I can tell you that this is one of the best all-round cameras you will find for years.
      Yes, the A7R3 will be here within 18 months no doubt, but such is technology and such is life.

    • @kathodosdotcom
      @kathodosdotcom 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      "amount of tech" thats a Hobbyist statement.
      i recall a strobe, shutter and aperture control was all a pro needed.
      I certainly dont buy cameras that are used as camcorders.
      I used it for 3 days.....after 25 years of owning nearly every camera out there, i know a techno-brick when i use one.
      keep us updated on how its still working 6 months time :)
      peace and hugz

    • @WayneGoodmanPhotography
      @WayneGoodmanPhotography  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Theoria Apophysis I've used Leicas for years. No tech. Refreshing. The A7Rii is a complete opposite but the tech is useful for me. If you don't like the camera then I hope you find something that suits you. I'll decline the hugs :-)
