    Every time the lastest camera come out people shit on the previous model like they wasn’t praising it when it first came out. now that it’s a new camera on the block they feel comfortable with telling you all the issue with the old model but it use to be perfect remember.

      Not Quite true... When the A7r2 came out, it was competing against DSLRs.. And the reviews kicked the Sh!t out of it because of battery life, And lack of lenses... and overheating... but, A7 series STARTED the death of DSLR

      Remember the Nikon D1? Had 2,7 MP resolution, DX sensor and a weight of 1,2 kilos. Was made for professionals. It has cost 6000 Euros.
      I really don't know what a "professional" needs these days... Lord, the Alpha R II is more than enough and it IS a professional camera and has been used for those reasons in the past. Look at all the videos in TH-cam.

    Great, informative presentation. Guess I may be seeking confirmation of my own bias on what direction to take, but, my main interest is landscape and just normal photography, and in my view the A7Rii is more than adequate for that. It will be a camera I will own for years, and I want access (later) to high-end Sony glass....will go now with cheaper options. Does that thinking make sense? Guess my thinking is to save some money to buy better glass now, albeit less than GM stuff. I can afford an Riii, but would now, not be able to buy much glass. Thank you again for a great vid on this stuff. What I am shooting for, eventually, is very high-end landscapes on digital.

    Sorry I have to disagree about the difference between 10fps and 5fps as pro vs amateur. Professionals that are in Real Estate, Architecture, Landscape, Food, Lifestyle and Product Photography do not need more than 1fps.
    Personally I tried to shot a factory reportage at 10fps and I had to slow to 5ps because i was not connecting with subjects moving. This “ record “ everything i do not believe is benefiting this kind of photography. I understand 10fps for sport photography, mostly because of having more good shots even with heavy autofocus work.But please do not take it as a substancial critic. I am bias, I come from film photography ( any size ), I am attracted to tech but a lot seems to me more matketing then else.

    I think for someone who does portraits primarily, the A7r2 at the current price is a great way to get hands on a high mexapixel mirrorless. The benefit of being able to use manual lenses from virtually every manufacturer out there is a benefit for those looking to create a high mexapixel portrait setup on a budget.

    Great video. Have used mark2 for 1.5 years and love it. Will have mark3 today. Never thought the battery was much of an issue but recently shot a ballet performance and battery ran out a crucial moment. Fumbling in the darkness to swap it cost me some valuable shots. 5 frames per second is fine but waiting for the buffer to clear again is a killer with action taking place. Really thinking the mark3 will keep me happy for the next few years.

    the only issue i have is the native G lens are huge. the space between the grip and the lens is quite narrow. Don't think the Lens dimension can be fixed but Sony should look into a slightly larger body design or think about the the grip. I don't think people would dump the Sony bodies if they're built a bit larger. Sony needs to come out of smaller is better thought. the built quality is still not there and I believe that's the final piece.

    Great job on this video; subscribed! No idea how long this will last, but you can buy any 3 camera accessories, including Sony type Z batteries, at Best Buy, for 25% off -- so basically $60 instead of $80. This works for battery grips as well, so you can buy the grip and two batteries, for example, and all three get 25% off. Even the monster Sony 4-battery thing is available from Best Buy with the discount. To see the discount, you just need to add any three camera accessories to your cart.

    There is a massive price difference - a7r2 new can be picked up for about 2000 and a good used for less. I use mainly manual glass and as I also have the a6500 I did not want another kind of battery - nor increase weight. For those who need the extra feature set the camera is worth it, for those who work much more with composition the a7r2 is a bargain now

    • @AllenFreemanMediaGuru
      @AllenFreemanMediaGuru 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also curious about this. Seems the 100-400 would have more reach but it’s heavier, more expensive, looses light when zooming (apposed to 2.8), and it’s white which screams “look at me over here shooting with expensive gear!” -(which is also an issue with the 70-200). I’m used to keeping a lower profile. The 24-240 works great though low light is a bit of an issue.

    • @iancampbell8697
      @iancampbell8697 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a Canon 70-200 f/4 zoom with adaptor on a Sony A7R11 and it was fantastic. Also a lot cheaper than the F/2.8 and no problem for me. I develop raw files in Capture One Pro, and there are so many ways to adjust dynamic range, add sharpness and do overall colour grading to produce an amazing Tiff that is easy to work with in Photoshop and Colour Efex Pro. The image quality of the 42 mpx sensor is more than enough!
      I also make large format Fine Art prints for myself and photographer clients, and with a 20" x 30" print, I can see the difference between the Canon 5D Mk11 and the Sony A7R11. The Sony A7R11 is now greatly discounted but you need a lot of batteries!
      My Advertising work was all shot with a series of Phase One backs, and the last one was a 60 mpx beast on a Fuji 680 body with swings and tilts. A 12" studio stand made for the perfect studio kit!

    Great video. But I am still facing the decision and I am slowly despairing.
    The price has moved into the background (used ones cost almost the same).
    It's all about the photography itself:
    I like to travel and take pictures in the nature. Structures, plays of light and abstract forms. I love to explore my surroundings and photograph all the things and details around me. Meanwhile I am also interested in Street- and Low Light Photography.
    The a7 iii sounds great and super modern but the a7r ii maybe better for what I do?
    I am really not sure if I need the 42mp or if the 24mp is enough ... maybe some of you guys have any experiences or advises?

And after 1.5 years of daily shooting with A7Rii in desert, high winds, freezing snow, and near salt spray at the beach, I’ve had no issues! They are way tougher than I originally thought.
