I was talking to another gal the other day how everyone in my neighborhood had fruit trees in their yards. We’d play all day and climb trees and eat fruit. My Dad planted 5 fruit trees with each of us kids. Nobody had fruit trees anymore…..

I’m in Virginia and my girlfriend is eating the same raspberries as her great grandparents and several generations before. Pretty cool her family has that connection with her past.

Before cutting all the way back be sure of the type of raspberries you have. If they are everbearing you cut them down to the ground before growth in the spring HOWEVER if they are summer bearing DO NOT cut them all the way to the ground, just cut out the spent floricanes (last years berry bearing branches which are dead and will snap when bent)
