Well that makes sense! Our old house had a nice raspberry patch and they were situated right on the the upper part of were our outlet was for our sump pump about 30’ from the house! That makes a lot of sense now Joe . Thanks!
I have an old abandoned railroad track by my house and the rasberries grow like crazy, I remember picking them and my grandmother making pies and cobblers. Eventually they started disappearing so I went down and dug up 5 or 6 plants and transplanted them in my garden. Those things took off like crazy. I had to mow some down to keep them from taking over the whole garden.
Raspberries are awesome. they just grow and are hard to kill. When they start failing, mow the whole patch down and let them all come back and they will be fine.
Hey Joe, you might get cross pollenation with the old raspberry plants?? Unsure ...just suggesting. Good luck with rest of move - thinking of your dad ..... I hope he still gets to enjoy his workshop. Thank you for the great content 👏👏👍🙏
What usually happens with Berry plants is they grow themselves out of production! We did Blackberries commercially and changed plants out every 6 years! Be sure to check soil PH! Blue Berries like acidic soil low PH. We planted Blackberries 4 feet apart in the row! Wouldn’t hurt to feed em now and then! Great video! You’ve got perfect soil for drainage
That was my experience with my little raspberry patch. I had to vigorously manage them or they would quickly become a useless bramble. I also thinned my plants, after a couple of years, to about 5 to 6 feet apart to manage the pruning out of old canes. I also discovered that 2 plants per person (a total of 10) was more than enough for my family and plenty to give away to friends with lot of jelly and syrup on the side.
Lovingly suggest utilizing an auger for planting, Sorry to see the hobby farm property go, but pandemic real estate pricing is a sellers dream-especially when you are not a buyer. I hope the family did well. The other side is less property to care for, Louisiana home in great shape, start dreaming about the farmhouse. You and Melissa are great collaborators. I would love to see that vision board!!
I m really looking forward to your gardening videos its probably one of my favorites outside of Melissa cooking videos lmao dam that lady can cook Youre a lucky man I seen her cooking breakfest it made me run to huddle house
Thats exactly what I was thinking. If I bought a property that had an established raspberry patch I would expect it to be a part of the sale of the property. I would not expect the previous owner to come dig it out after the sale was finalized.
Hahahahaha. OMG you people are going crazy. Do you think I am that much of a dumb ass? if so, leave the channel. I am sometimes surprised that I don't have to tell you when I am going to use the bathroom. I am very happy that you are all getting pissed off when you have absolutely no idea about any of the details about the sale. Haha. The closing was TODAY. When it was sold the property had a foot of snow on the ground. The new owners are not going to garden, they are going to plant grass seed in that whole area. happy now??? Fucking bunch of shit.
Believe me, those raspberries at the Hobby Farm will all grow back. I tried to get rid of raspberries in a raised garden bed. That was 3 years ago. I dug all the roots I could find. They are still coming back.
@charliebucket if you don’t like Joes videos why do you watch them? Insulting people only makes you look bad. Find something to watch that makes you happy. As for me I enjoy and learn a lot from Joe and Melissa.
Not all of them but the loose bales from last year did not hold up well. I am picking up 40 or 50 bales I think this Sunday. More than we need in that garden but I want to have plenty.
Lmao, I love your responses to some of these Joe but that's probably not how you got 220k subscribers. I've been watching for a longtime and it's been awhile since I've seen you this fired up.........and over raspberries.
Is your soil acidic enough for blue berries? I'm struggling with mine. I live south of the metro and I'm wondering what you do to get a decent yield. By the way, I love the channel and look forward to every one!
Great question. We have many wild blueberries that do awesome but have small berries like they usually do. The ones we planted I am not sure if they made it or not through the winter. Things have not leafed out yet. Melissa bought 2 more plants just a few days ago that need to be planted. So far I have not mastered blueberries...... but stay tuned, I will.
Oh lordy, all the comments about Joe taking off with those raspberry plants! Give the guy some credit, if anyone knows what’s what it is Joe, more power to you Joe and I hope you get a bumper crop from those plants.
I know, right?! I’ll bet Joe never thought when he posted this video, he’d be accused of being a plant thief. Give the guy a break and the benefit of the doubt for cripes sake! I’m sure he’d never do anything to intentionally screw somebody over. Let’s just enjoy his video content and stop with the accusations and negativity.
People put so much time into making the perfect patch and doing that you can get by with just a few plants. My take on it, is plant a bunch and let them fend for themselves and you will get just as many berries. Like you are finding, they are hard to kill off. Lol.
I'm assuming you had permission to remove those plants. Once the closing is complete, those plants belong to the new owner, unless specifically addressed in the contract. Also, we plant raspberries 8-10 feet between rows so you can get access when they are mature.
You do realize that these videos do not get put up the same day I film them? Closing was today. I have owned 10 houses in my life, I am fully aware of what can and can not be done.
Thanks Joe from Pennsylvania. Very helpful, as I am going to be relocating a few plants in our garden. Happy 2024!

Great video Joe, good information, thanks for sharing
Looking good Joe!

Thanks for sharing! Soil is beautiful!
Great job Joe. I see some jam etc. in your future 😎👍🏻
Thanks for another great video, we enjoy all of them!
Thanks Joe. Always helpful videos
Interesting...they grow everywhere at my farm. I might try this and bring some home where I can fertilize them and get bigger ones.
Good job! I have moved raspberries. They are nice and hardy here and we have short, cool summers. 👍😉🇨🇦

👍👍 God bless y’all ✌️
nice to have some thing from the hobby farm to the Farmhouse!
Joe is the Berry Man!! Stay safe my friend's.🤓👍🤓👍 Randy.
Your soil looks amazing up there, Joe. Down here in Florida the soil is pure sand. We really need to Doctor up our soil down here.
That's one of the reasons my wife and I are moving out of Florida
Thanks Joe great info and video! 🤩🤩👏👏👍👍👍💯💯💯
Thank you very much for this video! Very helpful!! My first time trying this!
Thank you for the video, Thumbs UP👍.
I started a garden Joe but mines are in the pot plants in Houston Texas❤️😘🙏🏼
Keep them fertilized and watered and you should do great.
I'm doing this tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

👍🏻 won’t be long we will see the abundance. Good vid.
Should you have put some kind of fertilizer in the hole before planting to wake up the roots?
Totally not needed. You might actually burn the roots doing that. They are raspberries, just plant them and they will grow.
Thank you. Good job.
👍 From Cadillac Michigan
I wonder if Joe will do a green house since the growing season is shorter at the farm house
Hes mentioned that before, I think it's going where the hay bale garden is now
We might eventually. I truly thought this year I would finally have more time and then... Nope.... Lets add more stuff to do. Lol. It all takes time.
I m really looking forward to your gardening videos its probably one of my favorites outside of Melissa cooking videos lmao dam that lady can cook Youre a lucky man I seen her cooking breakfest it made me run to huddle house
The only thing that could cause them to not reproduce in the same would be the new zone, but hey, at least you tried!:) Semper Fidelis
How and when do you move raspberry plants if you know the soil (if you want to call it ) is rocks. I tried to move a few. They died.
Hey Joe, did you mention the raspberries to the person that bought the property? It could cause you a problem.
Thats exactly what I was thinking. If I bought a property that had an established raspberry patch I would expect it to be a part of the sale of the property. I would not expect the previous owner to come dig it out after the sale was finalized.

Can you plant in fall
7 months of winter to follow.
👍👍

I did the same same. Took my raspberries bushes with me
Ya, biggest problem with raspberries is keeping them under control lol. I liked your facebook clip from this video better though Joe lol
👍👏
When the berries are ready I love them the other 9 months I completely hate them.

I am just going through and when I see a new stupid comment I am deleting them. Lol. I can not believe how many dumb asses there are.
@@JoeandZachSurvival Me either! I nearly gave myself a sprain from rolling my eyes.🤣
There goes all the sap buckets lol
Oh what's up on the truck
Got it back today. I will do a follow up video on it and post it this weekend.
I'm already imagining what Melissa is gonna do with all those raspberries. Cobblers and jams and canning perhaps?
Yes, we pulled out all our raspberry sand put gravel down to put a dog pen in that area. New planes are coming up through the rocks.

Too bad you didn’t keep the language clip LOL
ya the language made the video that much more relatable.
Sticky willy :(
I have no fucking clue what this comment means. I get stupid ones every day though so this does not surprise me.
