Hi, I follow your lessons regularly. Thanks for uploading videos. It would be great if you could post some videos on SQL ideas that runs in the tableau background.
Thank you Donabel! Really interesting techniques to pivot data, hoping to see more such quick tips short videos, along with the detailed ones, they are quite useful! 😊👍
So this one works only if you have a certain number of columns pre-defined like in your case. Do you know how to do it dynamic so it captures the upcoming months too?
Hello Simmu, thank you for your note. I do have a video on Tableau Joins, please check it out - th-cam.com/video/FtyVMvfzn1I/w-d-xo.html Looking forward to your feedback..
👏 Bravo Donabel! What an outstanding tutorial! 👏 Short & to-the point! 👏 Needles to state that lengthy demos can be boring & flat. Your 5- minute demo is fundemantal for burgeoning Data Analysts! 👏 Requests: (i) If possible; Can you please make a series of short Tableau tutorials (~5 mins)? (ii) If possible; Can you please take into account the non-English native speaking Audiences? Thank you in advance! 🙏 Merci beaucoup Donabel! 🙏
These are great suggestions, and yes I am hoping to post more shorter tutorials. 5 mins seem to be the sweet spot. I am curious - what would you suggest for me in order for me to account for others who don't use English as their first language? What could be helpful? I am more than happy to hear your suggestions. Thank you Mustapha!
I was hoping you'd show how it actually transforms the data, cuz I assume it didn't just slap a new column with only 12 rows of months. My guess is it actually turns the wide data to long data? But seeing it would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi Himanshu - when you right click on the additional fields (that are not in the pivot yet), you will see an updated option called "Add Data to Pivot" Hope this helps!
i started wacthing several videos and they're simply awesome! thank you so much, you are very clear in your explanations and focused!
THAT IS WONDERFUL EXPLANATION!

Glad you found it helpful Sayak!
Hi Bella, why do pivot option gets enabled for Flat files and not for SQL database.
Hi Pradeep! I am not sure but I would guess it could be a limitation in the SQL drivers ..

Thank you it was very useful
Thank you Sharan!
Thank you for this tutorial. When I pivot 02 Columns, it leads to duplication of all the rows including the totals then double, how to avoid that?

I can not see pivot option in my tableau desktop what am i suppose to do?
How do you pivot data using custom sql?
thank you for sharing👍
You're welcome Avi, I hope you found that helpful.
Can you create multiple pivot columns. It only lets you ADD to the pivot column you made only not create another one.
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately not in Tableau Desktop. In Tableau Prep, you can do step-wise pivoting of multiple columns.
Excellent.... I have a query related to this. Please tell me right way to add more month in already pivot data in tableau.
Hi Himanshu - when you right click on the additional fields (that are not in the pivot yet), you will see an updated option called "Add Data to Pivot"

Its cool 😀
Thank you Koti!
