    I have just purchased my first Bose L1 Pro8. I was quite put off by some online videos suggesting there was a hissing noise problem with the speakers, others claimed that the plastic connectors on the columns were flimsy etc..... What I found was that with just the speaker column it was very sturdy, once I added the plastic extension there was a slight wobble at first but when I pushed it in properly that wobble decreased drasticly and does not worry me at all. Well as for his I can put this to rest now. Whether there was any cables pluged in or not this thing was dead silent....and I mean silent. The type of Digital silence, no noise at all. I am extremely happy with the unit, it is punchy in the bass very clear in treble and overall a very very good system for a solo performer with backing tracks and electric guitar with a Headrush pedal. I highly recommend. I am yet to play it at a gig but this thing is loud.
    Thanks Pete as your channel was one of the very few that demoed it with electric guitar and backing tracks. Your video was the one that made my decision.

    I own most all of the Bose systems...Just sold one of my Bose L1 Type II's and bought the new Bose L1 Pro16. Man does it sound great....My L1 Type II is just sitting my rehearsal room now...I am thinking about grabbing the Pro32 now. Don't hesitate these things blow every thing else away for Solo and Duo work. Great Video Pete....I run my HX Stomp via my XR18 to the Bose and it sounds almost as good as my FRFR Amplifire CLR powered cabinet.

    I used earlier models with the separate T1 Tonematch Mixer for over a decade. My rig was based around Line6 Variax/Pod XTL and Roland GR33 Guitar Synth combination. It was a perfect choice on tiny bar gigs for portability and FRFR output. Guitar synth pads sounded huge. No dedicated backline, monitors, or PA. No Tylenol and Guinness cocktails at 5AM. At one time my band owned 5 of them. Drummer was doing stereo with his Roland TD20 V drums.

    We used to use an older version (with an external MixingDesk), 1-2 acoustic guitars, 2-4 vocalists, sometimes a violin and/or a saxophone and sometimes even a little drumkit and it just worked. That thing paid itself several times ;)
    Its perfect for Bars, churches, Birthday parties, weddings and other venues where you dont need lots of volume and the audience is somewhere between 20 and 100 people
    For solo/duo performers there are also other really great things out there that dont bust the bank

I had an L1M2B2 for two years..it was rock solid...hat's off to Bose because fans loved the sound but I always felt I needed more...sounded a bit compressed/thin. T8S (tonematch mixer) was great...I actually kept the mixer when I sold the L1...

    You're a wizard Pete always such great playing.
    Had an L1.... it sounded amazing in the right settings but for pub style gigs this is not ideal. Smaller stages at loud volumes etc. it just didn't work. HUGELY practical in a lot of way but I've since gone back to my PRX 12's for gigs. More cables and setup but I know I can be in a small corner and pump out sound without having to struggle with feedback all night long. Normal setup is two Vox and a Maton.

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya I think maybe it seems best suited to lower volume gigs, solo or duo performers, maybe not loud rock or blues full band situations! But that’s ok, plenty of situations where this would be a great choice.

    Sounding crispy with thems grandpa's guitars Pete. How does this sound in stereo with an Axe FX? Even the best FRFR cabs are quite beamy, and sound way off when you're not in the right spot.
    This seems like it would work exceedingly well for home use in stereo with a top shelf modelling preamp. Set a couple up in the guitar den and have room filling non beamy guitar tone, plus a kick-ass music system for when the boys come over.

    Hey Pete,
    First off, you’re so freaking talented and skilled that it is both inspiring and defeating, lol. Quick question though: I am assuming that when you create your intros for your demos that you maintain the copyright on the music. Have you considered, or do you already have, a PT royalty-free library somewhere so that you can leverage your great tunes as another revenue stream? As a video producer, I can absolutely see purchasing some of your tracks for various vids I’ve done over the years. Just wondering if they’re available anywhere.

      Pete Thorn That’s great news. I agree with Michael Chadwick as far as doing your research goes. I tend to use Pond5.com where you pay for each piece of music individually and the prices can vary quite a bit, which tells me the composers likely have something to do with setting those prices. It’s a high-quality library for music, photos, videos and I could certainly see your work fitting right in at that house, though there are of
      course many others. Like Michael, I would avoid those that offer a subscription model such as epidemicsound.com and others. In any event, please be sure to let your subscribers know when your music becomes available somewhere and happy holidays to you!

      @@lashram32 I've never liked the headcount idea. What's the diffrence between 100 and 120 of 50 and 75? If the crowd is drunk and screaming at each other then it will be difficult to get the sound louder then 35 people but if the crowd is 200 deep in a quit restaurant then its no problem. I think you just have to try it at the loudest place you usually perform at and then judge it from there. point source speakers are designed to mow over a crowd at loud volumes. Small line arrays are made to provide extreme hifi clarity and super wide dispersion just above crowd level and not much more.
