You would have been better off getting a bone in turkey breast and cooking it yourself to avoid the dryness. When I roast a turkey breast it comes out juicy not dry. The breast by itself also is good when you have a small amount of guests. This year I am roasting a turkey breast and getting a pre-cooked ham like your parents. No. You need a whole turkey or at least all of the components. You don't need just turkey slices but legs and wings.
The whole turkey is good. Get that next time
