@@debutchi it’s in order of release, which is my recommended order. That’s how the story was originally told.
@@falions_ have you made an order thats chronological to the story? because i know theres some untranslated manga that was released within the past few years that takes place before the main kite/black rose story, so im curious if you have a list that incrorporates more recent releases with older ones in a more chronological list

That's exactly what I was aiming for when I made this video--I just felt like all the other guides on this website wasted too much time and offered too many unnecessary opinions about each entry. I'm actually looking to redo it since I've translated a ton of more stuff since making it, including an English patch of Versus coming out soon. Please keep an eye out for both that and the remade version of this video when they come out!
@@falions_ Great, I'll definitely stick around. Also, a suggestion: can you provide a complete release order for everything .hack (including the minor entries) with the video? I, and I'm sure some other people, will prefer to consume everything strictly according to the actual release order, and not in-universe chronology.

I enjoyed both. I think everyone needs to be talking about .Hack, that can, so that the creators see the attention, people playing the games and uploading the gameplay footage, and they see renewed interest in the series and continue to do new releases for us. Sure, they are doing stuff but I'd like to see them do some new type games like make SIGN into a game, or remaster IMOQ for example. Either or (or both) would be awesome!
And the more people talking about .Hack, in general, the better the chances for more releases.

I'm a fan of .hack// as well, despite only got mostly of the Core route, alongside a few things of the Deep route (I do have the .hack// Beyond World | Versus blu-ray and played a bit of Link) and I really hope the future bright more in the series.

I love .Hack, we need a official (or fan-produced) video game of the events of the anime series .Hack//Sign. I like that in Fragment we can basically create our character as Tsukasa and have Bear and BT and Subaru and Silver Knight and such as party members, but it's lame that Sign is not it's own game as well yet like IMOQ. It would make for a fantastic video game imho.

Always love to find another .hack fan on youtube. Really wish there was a better way to play .hack//IMOQ. Only ever was able to get Infection. Played G.U. a lot as a kid though and was so happy when Last Recode came out. Kind of amazed you were able to get/upload the .hack archives white album. That one's extremely rare.
Someone on Reddit actually mailed me a CD drive so I could upload it for them, hahaha. I have all the limited edition Archives, so I'm always happy to share. As for IMOQ, they emulate really well on any computer!
@@falions_ WOW! Small world. You are the guy who sent me the download link on twitter a year and a half ago! I didn't notice because your username is different on there. For years, it wasn't available anywhere publicly online. I was only ever able to find the Archives 03 soundtrack from an ultra-obscure Chinese site that allowed full previews of songs in low quality, and Archives 02, I got from you! (Thanks again)
I'll probably emulate the original games at some point. I'm just generally less invested in finishing games in emulator and 100%ing all 4 volumes is a pretty big time sink, so I've been putting it off for the chance we get a Last Recode-esque release for them one day. I've been a mega .hack fan since around the release of G.U. Vol.2 & 3 (never played Vol.1 until Last Recode) and read all the official manga I could afford.
Just saw your site with translations; had no idea you were one of the people who worked on translating .hack//Link too! Was following that project for like...6 years. Very cool, thanks for your dedication to this series and its fans!

As for IMOQ, if it helps, I recently 100% completed all four games and my final time was something like 60 hours, usually somewhere between 15-20 hours per game, though I did not do the item completion quest in Quarantine's postgame (you have to collect 700+ items and the only reward is a wallpaper). We won't ever get a Last Recode-like release, because at the time CC2 basically said they would rather remake IMOQ since remastering them would be a much larger task than Last Recode. Besides, on an emulator, you can crank the settings up to make it look like a remaster anyway! (Though I played them all on a CRT television most recently, haha).

Joseph Anzalone I recorded this with a USB mic left over from my copy of Rock Band on Wii. I’ll write subtitles, but it sounds clear on my phone at max volume.
So for the second generation, watch up to episode 18 of roots, then the 3 G.U. games, then the ova, then the bonus fourth game, then finish roots, and then the drama CD in that order?
The order is Roots (up to 18) > GU > Returner (OVA) > drama CD > volume 4 > then you can finish Roots if you want.

What about the Legend Of The Twilight anime? When I first got started with .Hack as a kid my parents bought me the Twilight Manga and I was hooked from there.
The anime is non-canon. Manga is the canon version.
Is Returner still considered canon after Reconnection came out or is it no longer worth mentioning?
It is. It was even bundled with the Japanese premium edition of Last Recode. It ties into Link, so it has to remain canon. Returner Ovan is (IIRC) a vagrant AI. The only non-canon works are the retellings.

It came out between Quarantine and G.U. vol. 1. It has a story mode that is not canon (confirmed in the 2016 CC2 daily planner which was .hack themed), but the plot is still somewhat relevant as it takes place after IMOQ and before R:2, probably sometime in 2014/2015. I think I might be the only person who actually knows anything about it, though, because I'm the only .hack fan who speaks both Japanese and English that's played it lol

The last game was Last Recode. The last piece of story content was the new chapter of .hack//bullet released in January of this year. Otherwise, we'll hopefully get something next year, since it's the 20th anniversary.

I have read that only the first volume is translated, the other ones are in Japanese. But I couldn't find it (.hack Zero: Phantom Pain) :c

You can emulate and enjoy translated PDFs and patches of almost everything here. The only things you'll have some trouble with are the English versions of novels, which are typically harder to archive.
