Well, at least this one tries its best to find its own style. There is clearly some inspiration from BotW, but who could blame them? One could also argue that Valhalla looks like Skyrim.😉

I was upset
I got this game for Switch a week ago and it's brilliant. I yearned for something like Breath of the Wild, that I adore, and Fenyx Rising checks all the boxes for me. I like Zeus and Prometheus interactions, the conversations are funny and never tedious, even if a bit cringy sometimes. And I'm a huge Greek mythology nerd, so the setting for me is perfect 😂 Too bad Ubisoft didn't advertise this little gem properly, it seriously deserve so much more!
I still wish for Ubisoft to do another Rayman, even license him out to Nintendo or something.

I feel like the micro transactions are geared towards streamers/cash whales that don't want to play the full game to get the gear from the vaults. I've only been playing for 10 hours and found a lot of armor.
(Granted not the ones offered in the shops but ones I still feel rewarded to have found by completing vaults and exploring.)

Looks nice, shame about the exploration though, Breath of the Wild was brilliant in the way it made you genuinely want to explore filling you with wonder, fear, excitement and joy.
Seems like the smart thing to do is to not engage with the "scouting" system, at least not cheese it through walls and such. The shrines and other points of interest seems to be pretty noticable when walking around, so maybe just not scouting ahead and just start exploring instead will give that BOTW feel
fear many will skip it, due to too many "similarities" with the booming Genshin atm..

I've noticed that Botw has inspired its own genre lmao.
That's good, games like Fenyx and Geshin feel like clones at first but there's enough there and enough flavor to seperate em from just being a Botw clone.
Honestly, BotW just has the freedom that some of the older games used to have which is why it had such a good reception. Modern games have very linear gameplay or just have a lot of hand holding in general which made them less fun, but easier to make.
I'm not seeing Nintendo releasing BOTW on other platforms so any "clone" is welcome in my book.
Seems this game needs some quality of life improvements and updates that shouldn't be a problem for Ubisoft. 🤔

I'm starting to think Ubisoft animators never seen a human run.
In all of their games the characters run animation is weird looking.
From Joe Dirt in Ghost Recon Wildland, to this one that looks to have something stuck in his butt.
True, in the last AC games the characters run like if they got a stake in their ass while in previous games like AC 3 Connor animation while running looks much more realistic

Gotta be honest, between the initial reveal up until now, my interest level in this game went from like 5% to maybe around 80% as I've seen more and more out of it. May have to check it out at some point, probably after either Cyberpunk comes out, or after the next Cyberpunk delay, whichever comes next

Ironically, I bought this Fenyx game after I found Cyberpunk awful. Believe it or not, this Ubisoft game has WAY more content than Cyberpunk & is more of an open world RPG. Plus, it's fun & runs great, even on switch, & has CROSS PLATFORM SAVE FILES! It's like a cross between Disney, God of War 'junior', AC Odyssey & Zelda shrines

Either Valhalla or Immortals were going to take the fall for releasing next to Cyberpunk. I would have let Valhalla take the hit since it has the AC name carrying it but Immortals will suffer from a lack of sales due to Cyberpunk (not a good move since it may be the start of a new Ubisoft franchise).

@@_V.Va_ Genshin does many of the things right were Fenyx is lacking such as in Open World Puzzles and exploration. Also it's free and it has actually Good Character Models lol. I don't need another Lackluster Ubi World Game, with a new branding that doesn't have any appeal. Like What kind of new IP you start with generic Cartoon Characters and a Story set in greek Mythology.

What an amazing game. Ubisoft comes out with a top tier game showing they still got it when they feel like it. Wish we got more of this amount of effort put into a game. You can tell a lot of love and effort was put into this.

Genshin Impact. The biggest trojan horse in recent gaming history.
@@insanittiez4860 It's ok, I understand :). But still, keep your eye on Cyberpunk, there are multiple ways to play. Ex. In my first playthrough, I'm going for a melee netrunner (hacker). Cyberpunk will eventually release a 3rd person mode and multiplayer (wait about a year). In the meantime, try Witcher 3 (if you haven't already).
I heard of CDPR from Witcher 3 (like a good chunk of people) and now I'm a diehard fan.
Basically, they won me over with good consumer practices. That's why I recommend it.
This game looks to be another of ubisoft approach on putting as many icons on the map as possible except now you have to waste the time scrolling a zoomed screen for those icons to pop up

I am 20 hours into this game and have been loving it, here is one game they seem to have gotten right. It's a different type of game for sure. I can feel stuff starting to get dry, but we'll see.

Not exatcly ubisoft really made a lot of great games(Rayman, valiant heart, far cry , AC ). Alghtough admitably once they make great game they ussualy do Milk the series beyond the point of redemption (AC, far cry) or Just straight up forgot about them for a long time (Rayman,until recently beyond good and evil, Prince of persia) and from Time to Time they Just pretend to be EA(Might and magic series or rather whole universe )

Meh I wouldn’t say that. I’ve played about 30 hours and while it has missed the point of BOTW’s more organic exploration it does a better job giving a better variety of exploration.
In BOTW you’ll mostly be doing the same 3 things over and over with the occasional difference. In Immortals there’s much more variety in the not only the exploration but the combat and moment to moment gameplay.
This still looks like Ubisoft decided to copy-pasta Breath of the Wild.

This review mentioned breath of the wild way too many times to deny is almost a blatant copy of it
played around 4 hours (2 crashes when activating that yellow portal after a challenge on PC) and must say it's very good. The humor might be special for a lot of people (works for me luckily), but the gameplay itself is really fun. "Tip" for PC, you can subscribe to Uplay+ for 15- dollar/month, cancel it, and enjoy the game. I myself bought it with 20% off with those weird ubicoins you get every now and then.
Turning an open world exploration game into a game of "Go to the icon and do the thing?"

I really really hate the follow the icon open world formula. It ruins the exploration. You never really have a reason to walk everywhere as you know there is nothing in that area. Best to just let players explore and find shit on their own. Morrowind is a prime example of just letting the players explore.

Except it isn’t, you’re looking at a surface level.
BOTW has a tighter focus on its freedom and how each individual element interacts with each other but Immortals has more variety in moment to moment gameplay, a much larger combat system and a lot more enemy variety.
Immortals in some cases actually outdoes BOTW in how you can exploit the physics to complete a task.
To me this is like a Code Vein situation, you can see the inspirations clearly but there’s enough there to call it’s own and bits into.

Idk about those fake ratings, I got hit hard with the plagiarism flag, had to go into the head office for disciplinary review to discuss it, and every single “flag” was in ... the references. As in, the authors and titles were flagged as “plagiarism”. Didn’t even get an apology, There were seven people in the room. There were even people on a conference call who were involved. Crazy, bureaucratic power-mad infants. The fact that nobody checked it until the “review” was eye opening. Passed anyway.

As for the thesis, I guess you don't know about TurnItIn / plagiarism detection in assignment submissions.
for the last decade or so, "everything" gets uploaded to TurnItIn or other assignment marking sites that check for quoted material, references, and copy-pasted material that has been changed. Some will tell you if it's a problem, so you can resubmit, while the first few versions didn't tell you shit. Only that it was submitted before the due date.
In my case, they didn't inform me at all if it detects plagiarism after you upload, because it was a new system and I had to be told 3 weeks after that I was being accused of Plagiarism and would be expelled. Hilarious ... In that time period, nobody actually checked the report generated, or gave the option to resubmit.
Since the sites get tens of thousands of assignments globally, it can flag similar or common phrases where names are repeated, adverbs replaced, unique phrases from other people's assignments, etc even in different languages. So, If it has seen 5,000+ reports on Romeo and Juliet, it will flag most of the sentences as "plagiarism" that people reuse, mis-spellings of Shakespeare, all kinds of idiot things. You have no idea how weird it can get.

When a chinese zelda knock off that people scorned turns out to be a decent game and here we have a AAA ubisoft game that ends up being a straight zelda copy with goofy character designs.
Not to mention, the latter is free while this is paid.

I definitely under used the godly powers. I started off on hard mode, and the game was still kind of easy. Not really a bad thing, as the game is meant to make you feel powerful, and nightmare is actually hard. Atalanta was by far the highlight of the game for me, followed by just exploring the world. I went into Atalanta a little early, and I focused only on her. Managing attacking her while dodging and positioning the bear is so fun. That combat is echoed through the whole game, but Atalanta was the peak. Just unlocking chests with all the puzzles was just plain fun.
Legend of Assassin's creed of the wild. Cant wait to play it.

This game is really fun. I love exploring and unlocking chests and collecting gear and mats. For me, the puzzles are definitely the best part. I’m really taking my time with it, in no rush to beat it. Just exploring the world and enjoying the graphics. Its not breathe of the wild but it’s fun af.
I wish this had 2 player coop campaign.
You can apply that to Soo many games nowadays which is pretty sad because we all want it

Try out Hades if you haven't already. It's a fun mix of dungeoncrawler, RPG elements and roguelike.
I would add Crosscode if you like that old school 2d Zelda feel for really deep dungeons

Yes ha microtransactions mostly cosemetic though (not sure on the mount/bird skins if additional abilities ect from the bundles) and a stadia demo armor skin and twitch prime bundle of cosemetics(and a 3 stamina bubble horse)
