It turns out this actually could be considered the 145th star, as a MIPS was discovered in one of the courses where the WC switch appears. A lot of hacks don't actually have an end credits scene typically because of this exact scenario, but I think it works in the context of this one in particular since it lends to the idea that you can't really escape the plexus.
I do plan on doing a full replay before too long to make sure all 145 stars can be gotten semi-reliably, so hopefully I'll find out when it actually shows up without needing to do b3 and roll credits first
Vanilla SM64 has an "Act" system--every course has certain objects that either behave or spawn differently depending on which star you selected in the course's painting menu. B3313 foregoes this Act system for the most part, but this particular star _does_ use it--it will only spawn if you enter Tall, Tall Mountain while the game is in Act 1. The credits cutscene causes the game to transition to Act 1, so you can collect the star after beating the game, but if you could find another way to put the game in an Act 1 state, you could theoretically collect the star _without_ beating the game. As it so happens, one of the title screen demo-triggers transitions the game to Act 1. This will happen after hanging out on the title screen for around 35 seconds, so as long as you left the title screen running for at least that long, your game was in Act 1 when you visited TTM, explaining why you were able to collect the star.
Only way to escape is to find the vanilla castle entrance not the onr with numbers but with the stars on the doors. Mario desperately tries to dind it over and over only to be in the semi vanilla castle...so close yet so far
There really isn't much meaning to the hack beyond what you give it. It's intentionally left vague by Chris (the creator) since he wanted you to kinda fill in the blanks and come up with your own conclusions.

Strictly speaking, it's a feature, though it looks really weird since you're never meant to see it normally as Mario's always obscured any time it happens in the original game.
It's certainly not the last course. In this particular case, it was just a star that had no consistent documented collection at the time. Some vanilla courses still exist in the hack, though Tall, Tall Mountain is the only one that remains almost completely intact. The others that still exist have pretty much everything removed from them, making them "pointless" to go to from a collection standpoint.

@@CyberManTitan We're not allowed to post a pre-patched ROM, nor can a link be provided to a ROM of the base game. Unfortunately, you'll have to find that info elsewhere. If you happen to have the base game already, you can use the bps file to patch the ROM yourself that way, going into settings and making sure in Rom Settings that Memory Size is 8MB and Counter Factor is 1, which should lead to the smoothest play experience.
