We are 70 years young and RVing from Southern California. Currently, we're in British Columbia after spending a week in Jasper NP and 3 days in Banff. We did all this without booking any reservations! You guys inspire us! We are retired and are VERY flexible so it works. Next week we'll be in Waterton NP in Alberta then heading to Glacier NP in Montana. Life is grand when you "let 'er rip!" Love you guys (and Dexter, too)
Glacier NP is so far the most beautiful place Ive ever visited. I wouldnt want to be driving an RV on the Road to the Sun tho. Go in from the other side.
@@vonnie316 Sorry Ive only been once and it was 5 years ago. I can't remember roads well except that the Road to the Sun was very narrow, has a straight drop down on one side and not even a guard rail. I'm sure you can find pics or videos of it tho. I can tell you I highly recommend Avalanche Lake if you like to hike. Its not accesible by vehicle.

You guys made this so down to earth that I think even mere mortals could see Alaska without having the Hanks "celebrity status" (which we all clearly know you have).
My parents took me to Valdez, Alaska when I was in high school. We drove the Al-Can Highway and my Dad poured over Milepost, marking the stops he wanted us to take ("Oh! Here's a place that serves pie!" LOL). Of course it RAINED. A rock fell from a mountain and landed on the road just ahead of us. Dad and I hopped out of the car (we were tenting) and heaved it to the side of the road. Those glaciers have really shrunk in the past 40 years!!! It used to be an uncommon thrill to see a glacier calving. Now it seems like everyone who goes to Alaska gets to see it. I'm so happy you were able to have Capt. Fred telling you about the area! There's nothing better than an old sea dog to show you around and tell you the history!!! Yes, I need to go back to Alaska. Thanks for taking me along!!!
Valdez is beautiful and the color of the glacier amazes me. That blue ice is so cool. That water fall was spectacular. Thank you for taking us along and sharing.
You guys rocked it with the video!! I lived in Anchorage AK for 26 yrs - Valdez is a beautiful place and you totally captured it! Taking the drone to the top of Bridal Vail Falls was super cool too! I’ve seen the falls only from the bottom 😉 Good job!
Nice meeting you Nae Nae at the Carrs in Palmer. Maybe next time I can meet Carl. Valdez is my wife and my playground in Alaska. We end up there multiple times a year and will even drive over for just the weekend. The boating and fishing out of there is terrific and the locals, though a bit quirky, are so very nice. It is our favorite place in the state.
One of your all time best!!! I am retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and all during my career I begged to be stationed in Alaska. Kodiak was my dream location. Oh well it never happened but I guess I shouldn't complain too much as I did get to spend most of my career in the Caribbean. But the footage you shared with us this week is absolutely breathtaking! Alaska has so much to offer. Thanks Hanks!
We would have loved to take our RV to Alaska, but the long trip wasn't doable for us at this time. Recently took a Princess cruise from Seattle to Alaska with a group of friends on a 3 city stop. Was probably one of our best experiences and relaxing vacations so far. Food was pretty incredible too.
I am absolutely enjoying your journey through Alaska! Valdez is spectacular!!! Thanks for sharing all of the information and details of your experience!
Went on same boat we left at 10:30 and returned at 8:30. Well worth the trip. We only had one section of road that was being repaired. As you said lots of pull outs to look.
Wow, loved this toned down version!!! Lots of great information without all the drama and overacting! Great great job! So much more enjoyable when you keep a lid on it and just be normal! Thanks!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My daughter who now lives on the Kenai peninsula years ago said to me, “Dad, there are 2 seasons in Alaska, winter and construction.” And from all of my trips up and back, you find that is true of Northern Canada also 😊.
One of the great stories about Valdez is a 9.2 earthquake hit the town on Good Friday, 1964. Afterwards the ground was so unstable that they relocated the town 4 miles away. The residents were told they had 3 years to move. After 3 years, the structures that were not moved were burned to the ground.
My mom and dad were in Valdez that day. Said it felt like kids were jumping on the bumper of their VW until they noticed the power poles moving. They lost friends who were on the dock in the harbor, which slid into the bay. They were homesteading @ 10 mile. Was a scary experience to say the least.
Love the LuLubelle. Wonderful trip, but I have wonderful story about her. About 8 years ago, my 32 year son and I did this. We had already boarded, when a young woman boarded, she lived in Anchorage. She liked the way Andrew looked, but didn't know how to approach him. So she came and sat by me. Long story short, they are married and have a 4 month old son and currently living in Falls Church, Virginia.
This video brought back many memories. We did the Inside Passage Cruise in 2016. Then we did a two weeks trip in 2017. We fly into Anchorage, rented a motor home, and traveled with my brother and sister-in-law in their 5th wheel. What an awesome vacation! The best one we’ve ever taken. We went from Anchorage to Denali, to Fairbanks, to Tok, etc. Then back to Anchorage. Our trip and stay in Valdez was fabulous. Thanks for sharing!
You ought to do on a motorcycle. No roof, windshield posts, door panels floorboards, nothing but sky, snow drifts, mountains and water falls. In 1990 I hit Vadez, Seward, Homer, Fairbanks and the Arctic Circle sign on the haul road. If there was one place to go before you die, it's Alaska.
I have a bad habit of watching and then not hitting the thumbs up button.... I went back to hit thumbs up on a butt load of videos... love your adventures!
Chai Tea is my favorite, I really enjoy all your videos. Fun to watch. The information you give out is amazing. We are just weekenders , So we live out adventures with you.
Vancouver Island is beautiful on its own the ferry from north end heads north up inside passage to prince Rupert connecting to Alaska ferry system there .
Hello Hanks! My husband and I will be full time RVers on 9/1/23. We just purchased 2024 Artic Wolfe 3550 Suite. We are very excited. We will begin by “boondocking” on the side of our sons house. We have enjoyed catching up on your videos. You two are a hoot. We look forward to keeping up with the Hanks and D.
LOL! Watch from the beginning. I tried that but I do like watching the Thursday night video and then just binge watching from the last video. I'm up to?? Well, I think a meet up in Florida. Love you guys and so glad I happened onto you. I wonder who else is out there that I would enjoy. Thanks for taking us along.
Wow!! Absolutely stunning video!! Made us feel like we was right there with yall!! I’m so jealous!! Wish we was there with y’all! Happy Camping and Safe Travels! ❤️❤️❤️
I love your approach to Alaska. You are talking about places that most tourists do not go and cover them in a very cozy, comfortable way. Love your vids!
We too enjoyed Valdez. So much that, we made a detour to hit it up a second time this summer to see the sealions feeding at the hatchery. Now we detoured to Hyder. We are making the most of Alaska.
I was there last summer. Despite losing my iPhone in the ocean, now every time I use mine, I’m reminded of Valdez, it is truly a spectacular place. Glad you got to experience it.

I have been RVing Alaska for 21 years. You can camp anywhere just about .It is the best way to see things. On cruises it is a few hours each town. Don't get me wrong I still want to do a cruise but when I am older. But we fly into Anchorage get our ride and get out of town. Head south mostly, sometimes head north and pass through Fairbanks on the way to Chena hot springs. My buddy now has a place in Palmer and we use that as a home base. Valdez is stunning. I am surprised y'all have stayed exclusively in southern AK. I have been exploring AK by motorcycle since I was your age (so starting about 35 years ago). 30-40 years ago, when the sea ice was more stable lots of boats would offer tours by which you'd get off the boat on to a Glacier and have brunch, shoot skeet, hit golf balls, etc.
First time I saw the Columbia Glacier was in 1971 on the Alaska Ferry, We could just pull up beside it and it was so amazing. Took one of the Boat trips out of Valdez in 2004 and there was so much ice we couldn't get with in 5 miles of it. But the shocking part was how many miles back that glacier had retreated aprox 10 miles. In 71 it was a vertical 300 feet tall above the water from side of mountain to side of mountain.
I was just going to say... those snippets are fricken amazing! and then you broke in and said... um, just footage with music. Yeah that was a pretty great montage. nice.
Just watched thank you would suggest more beautiful scenery the boat trip was awesome seeing the glaciers wildlife amazing thanks for your putting your ❤️ in this God bless
