About the headlight flashing after fueling issue... There are a LOT of truck drivers who believe that pickups should NOT be using the high-flow diesel (truck) lanes. While you don't generally have a choice when pulling Soli, there are a LOT of pickup drivers who think that simply because they're pulling a trailer (even an empty garden trailer), they MUST use the truck lanes. A few months ago, I pulled into a rather busy truck stop for fuel. I'm a company driver, and I don't get to choose my fuel stops. I pulled in behind a "hot shot" with an empty gooseneck trailer; it looked to be about a 20' bed. (I look over at the car island; multiple diesel pumps available, and plenty of room.) He starts fueling, and then starts cleaning his windshield. No problem so far. Remember, these are high flow pumps. After a few seconds, the nozzle pops. He finishes his windshield, then restarts the fuel. He then uses the window squeegee to start washing THE SIDE OF HIS TRUCK. The nozzle pops again. He washes THE OTHER SIDE. He spends another few minutes futzing with the nozzle, then hangs it up. He washes his hands (in the windshield cleaner bucket), dries them, and pulls forward. He spent EIGHTEEN MINUTES to pump FIFTEEN GALLONS of fuel. I spend eight minutes pumping 130 gallons. I get into my cab, and wait for him to move. (Someone was behind me, so I couldn't back out.) Nine minutes later, he finally comes back out with a bag of food. I expected him to sit there and eat it, but fortunately, he didn't. He tied up the fuel lane for 35 minutes. One of the unwritten rules (courtesy) among professional drivers is you spend a maximum of ten minutes in the "pull forward" area. That's enough time to make a "pit stop" (leave your phone in the vehicle!), grab a bite and some caffeine, and hit the road. Another is that the window squeegee is ONLY for use on glass.
We are new RV'ers, waiting for our fifth wheel to be delivered next week. Thanks to the Hanks recommendation (Thanks Hanks!), we signed up for TSD Open Roads fuel discount program. The instructions state that we MUST use the commercial truck lanes in order to receive the discount. Can anyone confirm if this is true or are we able to use the car islands? In any case, we plan to be very mindful of commercial drivers and follow the rules of courtesy. :)
Thank you for that info. I pull a 40 ft 5th wheel. I do not wash my truck but I do use the truck fueling areas. I also like to get in and out ! I don’t like being with all the trucks. I know they are working. I never had anyone flashing lights at me. One more thing when truckers are trying to get in a lane and I flash my brights letting them in why don’t they thank people anymore. What happened to curtesy on the roads .
@@sharimcintyre2026 This is true you must use the truck fuel lane for TSD Open Road discounts. To OPs post, he didn't have a problem with the person using the fuel lane for trucks, it was he did ridiculous things holding up the fuel lane. Don't do that, just pull in get your fuel and get out of the way.
I am new to Diesel and RVing, we have a 42’ long 5th wheel so I began using the truck stops. The biggest pain I have found is that you have to walk inside to prepay then when done you have to walk back inside to sign off get your debit card and drivers license back (at some places). It’s a huge pain in the A$$ trying to blend the RVers and commercial guys. I haven’t watched the video yet so maybe it speaks to it. I am going to get some corporate cards, I feel your pain Driver. Washing his hands in the windshield bucket is absolutely disgusting! What’s up with all the diesel pump handles being covered in fuel and oil, even the typical gas stations diesel pump handles are filthy.
Great Arizona vacation video taking a break from the road. Thursday is my relax with the Hanks day. Remember to not look directly at the sun even during the eclipse on Monday. Even though you won’t see us next week we will certainly see you in the next video. Thanks Hanks
Hi kids & Dexter 👋 Dropping in to say "hi!" - love the ski & snowboard stash! I giggle about your "reorganizing" - I re-sort depending on what season it is, get rid of anything i have not used for 3-6 months & then play Tetris, fitting everything together... My basement is 2x6, under my sleep platform. I'm solo lady van dweller, camp host for Oregon State Parks & 73 yrs YOUNG! Loving this life after 3 yrs; Sept 5, 2021 is when I began my epic grand adventure in retirement. TTFN! Happy Trails, Ms. CharLee👵, Nicolas🐶 & Angel🚐
Hi Ms. CharLee, Nicolas, and Angel! 👋 Your re-sorting method sounds like an expert-level game of Tetris! We definitely need to take some notes from you on how to make the most out of every inch of space. It’s amazing that you’re living your best life as a camp host in Oregon at 73 years young-truly inspiring! Keep enjoying the grand adventure, and thank you so much for your support in watching our videos ❤️ We couldn't do it with you!
We've spent a month traveling, starting with the OR coast, then into NV, AZ, and UT looking for warmth. We've had a couple days here & there, but mostly cold, wind, snow, & rain. Doesn't stop us from exploring! Glad you pulled out the winter fun gear and "explored" the slopes! Thank you for continuing to share your adventures and your experience.
Howdy Hanks, it's great to see you today. Hope all is well with you. I'm looking forward to seeing what adventures you have coming this year. Stay safe, and have fun.
@HEH! It’s been about 2 weeks since we’ve been able to sit down and watch any TV or even TH-cam. Out first to watch is your channel! It’s 7pm on April 7. Watching and Dex is sassin you. We had just sat down and we had our warm beverage…coffee along with donuts, but not Dunkin. What a coincidence that you mentioned you trip to get the same. The Hinks.
I'm so glad I found this channel, because the Hanks are just the cutest, most entertaining couple by far. They just spread positivity all round. For me, the RV is the best. I'm still going through the past vlogs, to catch up, but I couldn't help, but stop the binge watching and jumped the gun, for this vlog. Blessings to you both and of course Dexter...From Auckland, New Zealand, safe travels!
camping involves continuous adjustment and that makes it great. This way you can stay busy in a relaxed way. I am from the Netherlands and like your video's
That happened to us in Wisconsin, we went to bed not expecting anything , we woke up with snow on the ground, surprise ! We full-time in a class A, we have the slide outs, helps us older folks.

I miss Arizona. My mom still lives in Prescott Valley. We used to live in a small town called Williams. Right on Route 66 . I’ve been where you are. Enjoy.
Curious to know what lift you have on your Denali and if you had to make any modifications to get your 5th wheel level with the lift? We have a '18 Silverado 2500HD with a 5" lift (BDS/Zone) and are looking at upgrading from a TT to a 5th Wheel and want to iron out the setup that is needed to get this to work right. We're considering dropping the lift 1" front and back if its worth it.
Guys, watching your videos is like having a breeze of fresh air in the middle of caos, thank you for the great and lovely vibes you give to all of us throur content.
We don't get to see your fights, but I was just thinking that these two must love each other very much. I would last 6 weeks. Too much togetherness. Love you guys. You bring me smiles and views of America.
Your videos are so awesome. The effort you put into the edit, and the chemistry between you two is amazing. Top notch, relevant content. Thanx again for letting us join your adventure.
Hey, we just bought the same washer! Replaced a very old Splendide that is probably 15 years old. Still worked, some, but hey, who doesn’t love a new washer/dryer. I love how this one tells me how long is left before they are all done. The old one didn’t.
I love your videos!!! And your secret hiding place is totally realistic. Hubby and I have been fulltimers for 3 years and it is surprising where you can stash stuff! Safe travels!
I forget which video you mention this but y'all had commented on one of the space heaters that you wish there was a lower setting than HIGH when running by thermostat. The WalMart heater that runs about $22 you can run at 700, 900, or 1500 watts AND by thermostat. I like to use these because at the 700 watt setting you can have two on one circuit and not trip the breaker. I use two in the basement of 40+' 5th wheel to keep above freezing on 700 watt with thermostat down really low. I also have a medium and tall Lasko tower and like you said in order to use the thermostat on those it is on HIGH or nothing. The Laskos are MUCH quieter than the WalMart unit though so a trade off. Another note, watched a video on heaters in general and as far as output they are all the same. My little Walmart heater on high (1500 watts) mathematically puts out as much heat as my big Lasko tower, also 1500 watts which is the UL limit for such devices as that's about what one circuit can handle safely. Difference in space heaters basically boil down to features. My big Lasko has a remote, oscillates and is quiet. My medium Lasko oscillates is quiet. Grab one of the little $22 Walmart units and play around with it. It excels especially in keeping things from freezing while using less power.

I almost fell out of my chair when nene said I bet folks think the vanilla bean foamy is mine. I did!! I thought for sure. I guess "don't make assumptions". Continued safe travels!
We finished hibernating in the Phoenix area and hit the road last week heading towards Flagstaff. Saw the weather forecast and changed our plans. I will not drive a Class A in snow. Nice to see you two having fun there!
Hanks for another great way to start winding down the work week ;) --- I once heard a guy order a "Large Liquid of life" and at first was curious until the person at the counter said no problem wthout even hesitating! and gave them a large black coffee! I still don't order it with that name myself but I do refer to it that way with co-workers!
Awww so nice to see you have a relaxed, fun, video. It's so odd to me to think of Arizona getting snow. We just had a HUGE storm in NH today. The second big storm since spring arrived. We were in SC with our rig so missed the first one but I had to fly home alone to get back to work (UNH). Husband is taking his sweet, retired time coming home alone with the rig. So I get that need for a break from each other. You guys are terrific! Keep on camping! ❤
AZ always gets snow every year. The high desert is where most of the snow accumulates. Such as in the Seligman, Williams and Flagstaff areas. The elevation is about a mile and a half in the air so snow is very common there. While the southern part of AZ is warmer, the northern part of AZ has lots of snow during the weather. As a matter of fact, they close the interstate due to winter conditions on Sunday this past week. March 31st.
We have that alarm in a few spots in our RV - holy cow it is loud. And yes, so obnoxious. But you did just make me want to buy more of them! Oh wow - the skiing!
Welcome to Az!! Check out Meteor crater and Winslow now long stops. Then you can say you were there. There is also a cool hotel there that has history. The name escapes me but it by the tracks.
What a cool video. I love you guys! Hey, thanks for the heads up on the lap trays. They are awesome! I saw when Kyle surprised you and thought they would be a better option than TV trays in our camper. We don't have a table, and the TV trays aren't really a good fit at the sofa, but the lap trays are spot on. Since we don't store ski equipment behind the sofa 😉😉, they fit perfectly back there. So thank you again.
Wierdo weather here in central IL as well! Sunny and warm to snow in short order! Go someplace warm you guy's, so I can live vicariously through you!!!
We bought our first travel trailer in February. Decided to go on our first trip last week of March. Chicago to Las Vegas. We got hit with a snow storm in Colorado put us 2 days behind and had two towing bills first $500 to have the trailer pulled to the campsite and then $60 to get it pulled out to the parking lot. Learned a lot that first trip.
We are in Tucson. We have been here for 2 months. We are moving to Benson, AZ on Saturday. Arizona has been getting a lot of rain and cooler temps. We have seen the snow come and go on the mountains. Our daughter went through Flagstaff a few weeks ago. Safe travels, see you on the road.
Ya, no thanks on the snow… been in Phoenix for a week, new roof on my 5er. Was headed that way but weather said no. There was a harvest host just out of flagstaff.. I went to Quartzsite for the eclipse… then heading back to Redding this week. Safe travels!
I use the govee detectors with WiFi at home. For the RV I use the ones without WiFi capabilities. Don't have WiFi in the rig so no need. They are great though.
When u backed in I wondered if u had room for slide. For our RV I finally took a measurement on my body with arm outstretched. From right fingertip to my left shoulder is the space we need 😊 mid 🇨🇦 today is 4 C (51 F) yippee!
Another thing about Flagstaff many underestimate is the high altitude. Some may need time to adjust. If you have sleep Apnea your symptoms might get worse. Also need to hydrate.

We're trying! But we seem to make a lot of wrong turns lol
We have the Govee water sensors in the basement of our house. They have been a life saver more than once.
Love Flagstaff! We usally boondock in the Cinder Hills OHV park. Look at the Mt Lowell Observatory. They have a great night time program.
Hay there you guys can keep the snow. I’m in Iowa. We only got cold weather keep warm warm you two tell your cats hi from Bob
Okay, let us know, we can send the snow your way anytime! LOL
Enjoyed your video as always.
You could put furniture sliders under the bins so they slide more easily.
I always stop at that truck stop outside of Kingman on my way back from Las Vegas.
Great video! We stayed at that park in Flagstaff and it snowed on us in November. 😁 They had a cool walking area in the back!
Ya, no thanks on the snow… been in Phoenix for a week, new roof on my 5er. Was headed that way but weather said no. There was a harvest host just out of flagstaff.. I went to Quartzsite for the eclipse… then heading back to Redding this week. Safe travels!
I like that water alarm good idea 👍
I use the govee detectors with WiFi at home. For the RV I use the ones without WiFi capabilities. Don't have WiFi in the rig so no need. They are great though.
When u backed in I wondered if u had room for slide. For our RV I finally took a measurement on my body with arm outstretched. From right fingertip to my left shoulder is the space we need 😊 mid 🇨🇦 today is 4 C (51 F) yippee!
That's a great technique 😊 Stay warm!
Another thing about Flagstaff many underestimate is the high altitude. Some may need time to adjust. If you have sleep Apnea your symptoms might get worse. Also need to hydrate.
