@@daddyrocker1000 - sure, but they're all a bit different from this one. Changing the order of the reverse is somewhat unique to the Rever. The momentary/latching feature too. Plus this isn't just a reverse reverb, it's a reverse delay + reverb.

love that pedal and use it a lot, only downfall is that it's noisey when turned on. On my rig it's powered by a Strymon power supply and in a chain with my other pedals. Is it as noisey for you? Should it have its own separate power supply? Cheers
Hey, we have the same shoes lol. I'm glad you posted this, this pedal sounds great and your music really does it justice. Great job, dude. I definitely need to pick one of these up after I jump on the Big Sky bandwagon.

Awesome pedal and demo !!!! I too remember watching the datachoirs preview and find me thinking, what would Stefan do with this marvel???? This pedal rules, so you.
Really happy you enjoyed it ☺ Yeah, the launch video they did back in November blew my mind. It takes a bit to get me super excited about pedals these days, but this one just knocked me over. I don't think I've ever hit a buy button that fast 😂❤
@@thepedalzone Since I posted that comment, I watched this video like 10 times more to be sure but this pedal just blew my mind. I saw in the comment section that if a comparison between this one and the Avalanche Run should be done, this one would be more shoegazy than the Avalanche Run, which would be more post-rocky. Being a huge fan of the two genre, I can surely say that it's right : the EQD Avalanche Run sounds ultra post rock, and it's his default to me. It sounds like a lot of post rock bands, and the Rever just opened new horizons in my mind. I really plan to make something based on this pedal. Definitely a boundaries killer.
Can you use the Reverse section/function just on its own without the delay and reverb if you turn them down completely? For me they'd be a nice plus but I just need something that constantly records audio and can then momentarily reverse the signal.
ThePedalZone That’s great. Do you know of a pedal that does only that and nothing else? Seems like a good opportunity for a pedal builder unless I’ve missed something that’s already on the market. And thank you Stefan, really happy to hear you enjoy the work 🙏🏾🐻❤️
Well, it's basically just a no-repeat reverse delay block. So you can get that type of effect with a lot of reverse delay pedals out there. The magic of this pedal is really how everything on it works together and interact, and the new creative doors the momentary reverse opens up.
Gorgeous pedal, so Lush! Blends both reverbs and the delay so well, and the order toggle switch, exp pedal and momentary switch are amazing to have as well. Going on my bucket list for sure, hopefully it's available in Europe soon. Great playing as always, thanks for the Wash!
Would really love to hear your take on an A/B of this vs the avalanche run. The AR is one of my all time favorites, but I can see elements of this that may put it a nose ahead, even with less delay time and no slow gear function
Sure! AR is more your “standard” delay reverb affair. They feel more as separate entities in that one, if you know what I mean? Whereas in the Rêver they more feel like a symbiotic entity. This is because the stacking order of the reverb and delay is the other way around from the AR, reverb is running into the delay, whereas the delay is running into the reverb on the AR. Hence the delay and reverb affect each other greatly in the Rêver. You can have your reverb set on the Rêver, and then you can dial in the delay and it will actually make the reverb feel and sound bigger and more washy. The reverb in the Rêver is also modulated, which just adds a gentle sway and motion to it all, which I really like. The reverb in the AR is more clean and airy. It’s hard to explain. You just have to hear it 😊 Other than that, there’s the pure functionality of the two. Rêver is way more “simple” and focused in its feature set, whereas AR is more versatile. The reverse is also way different. On the AR it’s simply a continuous reverse echo. On the Rêver it’s a reverse everything feature. Like you’re flipping a sample in real time. And the fact that you can trigger the reverse on the Rêver momentarily just makes me use it way differently to the reverse in the AR. I use the reverse in the Rêver more as a “magic trick” a bit of flourish on the fly, whereas I use the reverse on the AR as a continuous pad-like texture in the background. Hope this made somewhat sense. They are just two very different pedals in my book, and you can easily have both on your board, since they don’t overlap too much.
Stunning video as ever man. Really happy for you to get to your 20k. Won’t be long before you hit 50k 👊 What drum machine app were you using? It looked like a friendly interface?x
Thank you so much, man! That is extremely kind of you to say ❤ Like Charles said, the app is simply the beat sequencer in Garageband for iPhone. I always list all the gear and apps I use in the video descriptions. So you can always find the info there ☺
Astounding! I'm sold, I'm getting one. Thanks Stefan for another great Demo/presentation. I have many many delay and ambient delay type pedals, including a couple of classic tape delays but I have never heard such an incredible sound all housed underneath only one single pedal. Just the reverse sound alone is un like any other reverse delay I've ever heard! and that's just one of it's features. I could on and on but I'm going to stop here, OBNE makes stuff thats a cut above all.
Great video. Great tones. Swell dude. Always exciting to see a new video from you, man! Also, I have been debating a Jennings Navigator for a while and this video is not helping!
Thanks, man! Happy you enjoyed the video and that you think I'm a swell dude. I'm a swell dude who likes swells 😂☺❤ And yeah, that Jennings Navigator is the real deal. Such a great guitar!
Completely different pedals. Would totally depend on the situation. Dark World is way more versatile and aimed at multiple things, whereas Rêver (or now Minim, which OBNE just released. I just put up a demo of it on my channel) is more aimed at being a one-stop ambient machine with a reverse magic trick up its sleeve. Far from as versatile as Dark World, but what it does, it does well. The sum of Rêver's parts definitely make up a greater whole. So what I'm trying to say is, that it all depends on the situation what I would personally choose.
My god... I shouldn't have seen this... now I want one. In other words: great demo! Considering to buy a new reverb pedal (are we ever not considering buying another reverb pedal?) to pair with my Walrus Slö. Thinking about the Fathom, but not convinced yet because if I am spending that amount of money, I'd like something a bit weirder and something with a good reverse function. This one seems really dope! I do have a Polara, which is nice, but don't really like the reverse setting.
@@alienboy2783 Hey man, I just received it yesterday and played around a bit. I played it together with the Slö. Put it both before and after the Rever to see what I liked best. I decided to put the Rever before my other reverbs for now. What I immediately tried, was to turn down all delay and reverb on the Rever, and only use it for the reverse function and... it works! So basically, I now have a Slö with a momentary reverse switch which is totally awesome! Besides the momentary reverse function, which is alone worth the pedal - the delay and reverb are great too. I still have to play around with it more, but I already found that there's a lot of variation in colours, tones and sounds in this little thing. In comparison with the Slö: they're two totally different pedals. Great in their own way and very nice together. Really think I will have a lot of fun with this pedal! Already fell in love with that reverse switch. Great addition to my board for sure!
@@alienboy2783 The Slö on his own is a great pedal with endless sounds and possibilities in it. Definitely my favorite pedal on the board (alongside the Rever of course haha)
Some reviewers aren’t fans of OBNE pedals because they aren’t stereo. That hasn’t stopped me. I recently got the Rever, Visitor and Whitecap. They will probably replace 4 or 5 pedals that are now on my board.
ThePedalZone Thanks Stefan. I would appreciate your thoughts on comparing and contrasting the Whitecap dual asynchronous tremelo pedal by OBNE to their Visitor when Visitor primary mode and secondary modes are both set to tremelo.
Happy you enjoyed the demo. Means a lot. All of those pedals are very different. So it all depends on your needs as a musician. Only you know the answer to that.
That momentary functionality is beautiful. At times it's like my Avalanche Run and the Tensor had a baby. Also, does your Deluxe Reverb stay clean as you push the volume? I've been thinking about getting one lately for gigging.
Yeah, that monetary reverse is something special 😊👍 And yes, the Deluxe Reverb stays clean through the majority of its volume sweep. You probably have to push it to around 8 to get some natural breakup. I’m playing around 4 in my demos and it’s loud!
Hey Stefan - loooooove your videos and watch them on repeat daily. This pedal looks very inspiring. In your opinion, how does it compare to the EQD Avalanche Run? Thanks :)
Thanks, man! Very kind of you for being a part of the sonic journey ☺ I've answered that question a lot recently, so I'm just gonna copy paste my most used answer. But in short: They sound different, work differently, so get both 😉 AR is more your “standard” delay reverb affair. ThePedalZone thanks for the detailed and thoughtful reply! I bought a V1 avalanche run when it first released and run it on my board alongside an old big box memory man and a moog mf104m... might have to pick this up too for total overkill :P thanks again and keep up the amazing content :D
My big issue with the Rever and Minim is the sample time of the reverse - its locked in and can't be changed so as long as your some demands about a 120bpm then your fine. Anything else and you have to back off the reverse or just hope it gets along with your tempo. Its one of the most fun modes of the whole pedal though, going with a heavy reverse mix and letting the delay sound of the .5 second sample length set the tone. In the Minim they let you speed it up which causes a glitchy shimmer sound, but the ability to preserve the sample pitch and adjust the time would have been useful. Ultimately the Avalanche Run was just more usable to me over a broad spectrum of sounds and can still get some fun reverse stuff going. Minim has its own vibe though and wouldn't be redundant.
They're currently sold out on the datachoirsounds.com site, and a few other retailers, but some sellers will be carrying stock in the next few weeks. I believe this will be a larger release than the v1, but not sure how much they plan on making.
that riff at 3:25 is just beautiful! Just found your channel and your demos are fantastic, you play exactly the right things to show off the pedals. I'm trying to decide between this, the EQD dispatch master and the EQD Avalanch Run, what do you think? Saw an ambient band you might like at Glastonbury festival this week, 'Eyre LLew', have a listen if you get time. Thanks Stefan for all the effort you put in, us pedal nerds really appreciate it!
In order to complete your near perfect American dialect - you must now begin "sayin'" your name is Steve and that this is the Reever. Your transformation will be complete, young Jedi.
Damn, please stop uploading this wonderful demos, haha, it's kinda hard to get this devices in Mexico City, hopefully one day we'll make it, greetings!
Haha! Happy you liked the demo. Means a lot to me. You can always get it online, if a dealer near you doesn't carry it. It's a wonderfully inspiring pedal ❤
Don't think that song has a name. It's just the song played in the official product video by OBNE and Datachoir for the first run of the Rêver. Think it's just a jam they made up for that video. You can hear it here: th-cam.com/video/JMGIKQdmsFs/w-d-xo.html
Oh it's a fixed part of their lineup now, so it will stay there for a while. And it seems like there's massive demand at the moment. The hype is real 👍
Awesome channel and I guess too much inspiration impacting my (irregular) income... For someone with Ventris Dual Reverb and Hedra on the way... this (beautiful) Rever or (also very tempting) Avalanche Run v2? For use mainly with synths and keyboards... occasionally guitar... Thoughts? Thanks! :)
thx for your demo, inspiring enthousiasm. How you compare this pedal with thrilltone great escape ? sorry for a question of comparing, but actually those pedals are appealing for guitar and keyboards, they are also not cheap ...
Thank you very much! I don't have any personal experience with the Thrilltone Great Escape, but from my research I can see that it's a Tremolo pedal and not a Reverb/Delay pedal like the Rêver, so you can't really compare them at all. They do two completely different things. Probably fun to play together though :)

Thanks for this video. The sounds are incredible. I have a question though - how does one control the timing of all of this? I know there is a time knob but is there a tempo tap somewhere on this puppy? Or is it really that easy to adjust with the time knob? Forgive me for being obtuse and possibly offending you heavy ambient players out there, but I play with a band where this type of thing would be important. Can anyone fill me in?
I just realized that you said at the end of the video that the reverse timing is fixed. I might have to get creative but I think I can still integrate this one into my sound. Thanks again for the video. Sounds fantastic!
Happy you enjoyed the demo! And believe me, even we free-flowing ambient heads like a steady beat as well 😉 It would have been nice if you could change the speed/decay of the reverse, but it's easy to make it work as is. You just need to spend some time with it and learn when to trigger the reverse to get the best results. It's still one of the finest and most musical reverse effects I've ever heard ☺👍

love that pedal and use it a lot, only downfall is that it's noisey when turned on. On my rig it's powered by a Strymon power supply and in a chain with my other pedals. Is it as noisey for you? Should it have its own separate power supply? Cheers
perfect! and the ryhtmic section is quite impressive!
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it 😊 And yeah, it’s a ton of fun on drum machines.
Hey, we have the same shoes lol. I'm glad you posted this, this pedal sounds great and your music really does it justice. Great job, dude. I definitely need to pick one of these up after I jump on the Big Sky bandwagon.
First we're shoe siblings, and soon we'll be tone twins. Happy you enjoyed the demo, and that it has made you consider getting this wonderful pedal. I'm madly in love with it ☺
wow you did something that amazing live... incredible!
Thank you! I’m stoked you enjoyed it 😊🙏
Alright, alright... you sold me another pedal. I bought the Datachoir edition. That graphic is beautiful.
Awesome! Thanks for supporting OBNE and Datachoir. They are lovely people ❤
Awesome pedal and demo !!!!
I just ordered one...I'm so inspired
Pumped to hear that my demo inspired you to pick this ambient beauty up. Such a killer pedal!
Great demo! Definitely going to pick one of these up!
Thanks, dude! Very kind of you. You’re gonna love it. Will probably pair extremely well with your Mirage 😊👍
At 8:14, I was thinking about a slow and Eno-esque cover of U2's Miracle Drug! Great sounds as always
Thank you very much! 😊
Yes you can 😊👌 Love your music and words of inspiration, man ❤️
ThePedalZone That’s great.
@@thepedalzone The momentary function is exactly what I'm looking for and I haven't seen a lot of that out there.
Guess you could do something similar with a Red Panda Tensor perhaps, if it's just the momentary reverse function you want 😊
Just bought it i will be able to live when i hear my self playing this i cant wait i already have my boss rc 300 otw
Wow, you are just the best!
You are too kind, man! Thank you!
Slowdive in a box.
Definitely not the worst thing to put in a box 😊
Totally agree, Stefan. Thank you to make us discover all these wonderful pedals.
Stoked you enjoyed it, man! It's such a great pedal. It should be available in Europe as we speak 👍
Awesome! "Checking Thomann"
nice demo ! i been wanting this
Man - this is incredible! Bring on the wash.
Let the awesomeness wash over you, my friend. Happy you enjoyed the demo ❤
On point as always man. Great pedal, great sound quality and amazing playing!
Thanks, man! Very kind of you 😊🙏
Man that's absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you very very much!
11:00 sounds a lot like Alcest. If you had to choose, would it be this or Meris Polymoon?
awesome pedal i havent seen this moment
Happy you enjoyed it!
SICK.
Heck yeah!! Happy you dig it, man 😊🙏
Would really love to hear your take on an A/B of this vs the avalanche run.
Justin Cowley it’s the beat sequencer in GarageBand for iPhone
Thank you so much, man! That is extremely kind of you to say ❤ Like Charles said, the app is simply the beat sequencer in Garageband for iPhone. I always list all the gear and apps I use in the video descriptions. So you can always find the info there ☺
ThePedalZone Thank you for pointer!! Love your videos man. I was the Panasonic fanatic on Instagram badgering you about what camera you use 📸
Outstanding demo for an amazing pedal (you sold me one) !
I'm super honored to hear that. Thank you!
Astounding! I'm sold, I'm getting one. Thanks Stefan for another great Demo/presentation.
I have many many delay and ambient delay type pedals, including a couple of classic tape delays but
I have never heard such an incredible sound all housed underneath only one single pedal.
Just the reverse sound alone is un like any other reverse delay I've ever heard! and that's just one of it's features.
I could on and on but I'm going to stop here, OBNE makes stuff thats a cut above all.
Just ordered one!!!!
Awesome!!!
Awesome as always.
When are they making the Stefan Pedal?
Maybe ONBE and Earthquaker, can work together for a Stefan. 😀
Thanks, buddy! Happy you enjoyed it. A signature pedal would definitely be a dream come true 😊
It will come, for sure.... More and more, you diserve it !
CorbCorbin
Also Méris or Strymon.
Ok Stephan, you can only pick one: OBN Rever or Chase Bliss Dark World. What would be be? Asking for a friend :P
I keep on watching this review just to listen at your awesome playing!
You really need to record some songs, it will be a success I’m sure!
Thank you! super kind of you 😊🙏
Meanwhile: found and bought one from Reverb. Can't wait to play around with it!
Hey man, im thinking about getting this pedal and the Dark Star. How do you like this pedal with the Slo? Does it do everything the Slo does?
@@StefanvanderKlooster awesome stuff man! Im going to go with the Slo for now :)
Maybe rever or mimic in the future. Happy playing.
@@alienboy2783 The Slö on his own is a great pedal with endless sounds and possibilities in it. Definitely my favorite pedal on the board (alongside the Rever of course haha)
Mine arrives today. Can’t wait to get lost.
That's awesome to hear, man! Congrats on getting one of these wonderful devices 🚀
Some reviewers aren’t fans of OBNE pedals because they aren’t stereo. That hasn’t stopped me. I recently got the Rever, Visitor and Whitecap. They will probably replace 4 or 5 pedals that are now on my board.
Every pedal doesn’t have to be stereo 😊 I love OBNE. Happy to hear you’re enjoying their creations as well 👌
ThePedalZone
Thanks Stefan. I would appreciate your thoughts on comparing and contrasting the Whitecap dual asynchronous tremelo pedal by OBNE to their Visitor when Visitor primary mode and secondary modes are both set to tremelo.
Thanks! Great approach! This, avalanche, mood or blooper? Carry on!
@@thepedalzone Whelp. I'm sold. Thanks for the feedback. Just bought a wine red one. :)
where can i find that video in the beginning? i love the music!

My god...is this taking anyone else back to the days of Come Now Sleep by As Cities Burn?
I don't know, but I'm honored it transported you there 😊
I was sure i would like this pedal but now... where do i pay?
Fantastic demo as always!
Thanks, dude! Happy you enjoyed it. It's a magical device. Do a google search. If you're based in Europe, there's a chance you can still get one ☺👍
Hey Stefan - loooooove your videos and watch them on repeat daily. This pedal looks very inspiring. In your opinion, how does it compare to the EQD Avalanche Run? Thanks :)
Jamooshoe I’m also really interested in everyone’s take on this, anyone who has played both?
Thanks, man! Very kind of you for being a part of the sonic journey ☺ I've answered that question a lot recently, so I'm just gonna copy paste my most used answer. But in short: They sound different, work differently, so get both 😉

Beautiful man. Is this release limited?
They're currently sold out on the datachoirsounds.com site, and a few other retailers, but some sellers will be carrying stock in the next few weeks. I believe this will be a larger release than the v1, but not sure how much they plan on making.
It’s a full-scale worldwide retail release. You can find it at participating dealers online.
that riff at 3:25 is just beautiful!
5:00 what a nice riff!
Thanks!
Who will win
R E V E R
or
B R E V E R B
The thing is, Rêver means To Dream in French, so more than just being symmetrical, the meaning is rather cool ^^
Great demo as always Stefan! Does the Rever retain the dry-through signal well? Thanks :)
Thank you very much! Sure, the Rêver doesn't alter your dry tone in any way.
OBNE makes so many awesome Reverbs. I can't choose one lol.
Hi Stefan, what's the name of the song you talk about at the beginning 0:20?
Don't think that song has a name. It's just the song played in the official product video by OBNE and Datachoir for the first run of the Rêver. Think it's just a jam they made up for that video. You can hear it here: th-cam.com/video/JMGIKQdmsFs/w-d-xo.html
Anyone know this tuning? Some awesome sounds in the demo
Happy you enjoyed the sounds, man. Means a lot to me. I’m simply playing in Drop D in this demo 😊👍
yes!!!
Woohoo! 😊
I want one!
Check out the OBNE Minim. New and highly improved version of Rêver. I have a demo of that on my channel as well. Its octave reverse is to die for 😊👌
Hopefully the demand is big enough for this pedal that they will keep it in the line up for a while
Oh it's a fixed part of their lineup now, so it will stay there for a while. And it seems like there's massive demand at the moment. The hype is real 👍
@@thepedalzone been waiting so long for someone to do a proper reverse reverb and this will definitely end up on my board asap!
Sounds like a bit Avalanche Run which have a reverse mode too !
They both do delay and reverb, but that's basically all they have in common. They sound and function very differently ☺👍
@@thepedalzone Ok i have to explore this one :)
@@thepedalzone oh, Well, sorry for my dumbness, i just remembered wrong.
