This pedal was available at a decent used price at my local music shop. I took a night to sleep on it and when I came back to purchase it the next day, somebody had already scooped it up. This pedal was the most fun I've ever had with a chorus and it will forever be the "the one that got away" *sigh*
Thank you Stefan! Great video. When you make a video for something I have it inspires me to play with it for hours. I think you’re one of the best at bringing out everything from a pedal and giving it such a musical context in a short video and I think that’s especially true with modulation pedals. This one, the horizont, the rainbow machine, and the tonal teamwork using chorus/vibrato after delay are probably my favorite videos from you.
Oh, dude! I'm speechless here.... Thank you! Inspiring people to play and dive deeper into their pedals is more than I could ever hope for. And I'm stoked to hear you enjoyed the Horizont demo and my lo-fi tape tone tutorial. Really enjoyed making those vids. ❤
Honored to hear that, man. Thank you. It's such a fun pedal. Really impressed with how much they managed to cram into such a compact modulation pedal ❤👍
Thanks, buddy! Well, nobody says that the Reflector and CE-5 can't live happily side by side on your board. The Reflector is so much more than a standard chorus. It's just a deep wormhole of detuned atmospheric goodness ❤👽🤖🌈
I've searched a used Reflector Chorus in my country for about 3 years. Never found one. I own 3 different chorus pedals now, but seing your video again made me want this pedal all over again. This sound is too perfect and so are your demos.
Damn homie, OBNE just jumping up on the radar with the dope shiitake. Just SO many dope pedal companies these days. It's like you can't go wrong but never feel like you've got it right.
Haha! I know exactly what you mean. OBNE definitely got something right with this new version of the Reflector though. I used to own the V1, and it was fun and all, but this new V3 is just perfect. Way more musical, and just so freaking inspiring to play ❤
Got this pedal a few weeks ago, absolutely love it. So much in this pedal, like all the Old Blood goodness. Thanks so much for this inspiring demo and all the different sound combinations. Now I just have to decide which Old Blood pedal next:) The Dark Star has always been on my wish list. Have a great one man!
Holy crap. Thanks for this video! I own this pedal but I have been severely neglecting it now that I better understand how this can and should sound. Thanks again

Amazing to hear that my tiny videos are able to bring a sense of zen and normality into your everyday life during these crazy times. Stay safe, my friend!
Best pedal demo site around. How does the reflector pedal compare to the Visitor when both primary and secondary settings on Visitor are set to chorus? Seems like the Visitor with its primary and secondary features multiple options of tremelo and chorus (and phaser for primary too) would do most of what the Reflector and Whitecap can do.
Another great demo of a great pedal! I see you got the Alpha Haunt as well; I just bought one and I'm just loving it, I use it for squashed 8-bitty leads. It definitely deserves its own review!
That's because it is a very refreshing and new take on this classic effect. OBNE really created something really fun and special here. Highly recommend it.
I had one of these at some point. Not the newest version. I don’t really like chorus but this was fun and of course I wish I hadn’t sold it. This and the Black Fountain were my two favorite OBNE’s
If you liked the old version, then you’re gonna absolutely go bonkers over this one. I used to have the old V1 version, and I liked it, but this new version is just so much better. At least in my book. Just way more musical, and the new Washed Mode is to die for ❤️
That's simply done by playing the melody line with tremolo picking. Just picking the string really fast with the plectrum :) It's the "secret" technique behind basically every post-rock and ambient band out there. Great for creating pad-like melodies when fed in to a decent amount of reverb and/or delay.
The DC-2 is actually analog. Bucket Brigade Chorus. But to be honest, I don't really think about if something sounds analog or digital. If it's good, it's good. And the Reflector definitely sounds great to my ears ☺ Happy you like it!
ThePedalZone - Sure, but it sounds digital, to me, in a similar way to this Reflector. Not saying that's bad (or good), just a description of the sound I can relate to. And yes, as always 'if it sounds good, it is good' ... Cheers - Be well!
Maaan, I just started learning, but this video makes me want to buy this before they stop producing them next week! Btw, what cables are you using to link your pedal chain?
Thank you kindly. Means a lot that you enjoy the demos. The OBNE Reflector and Neunaber Inspire are totally different beasts. If you want classic huge 80s chorus tones, then go for the Inspire. It stays within the regular chorus realm all the way through. If you on the other hand want modulation tones that no other pedal can produce, then the Reflector V3 is the right one. It's an augmented Chorus. So it's Chorus AND Reverb. Chorus AND Filter. Vibrato AND Pitch-shifting. If you're the experimental kind, then I would highly recommend the Reflector. If you just need some general lush 80s stereo chorus, then the Inspire is probably the better choice for you.
Just to jump in this comment here because I have something I want to add and ask you. What about this vs FF Shallow Waters? I just ordered the Shallow Waters but I like this pedal so much I am already thinking of buying another pedal XD! Also, just to give you some context this is my line up right now. DOD Looking Glass, EQD Afterneath, EQD Space Spiral, Stryon El Capistan, and soon to be FF Shallow Waters.
hey man. loving your videos - is that last section with the expression pedal literally just controlling the Reflector in wrinkle mode to get that 'open mouth' tone?
Fantastic! I've not really been a big fan of chorus but this pedal sounds gorgeous, at least in your hands! Would you consider uploading longer clips of some of the songs/jams you play in your videos (if/when you've got them)? You write such amazing compositions, but I always feel like they're over way too soon in the demo! :)
Thanks, man! It'll sound great in your hands as well. I'm sure of it ❤ And sure, I'll consider uploading longer versions of the jams. But it would probably be somewhere else than TH-cam. Maybe Soundcloud or something like that ☺
Also: Any preference on a particular expression pedal? I was eyeing some mini pedals just to make it a little more pedal board friendly but wanted to know what you thought/used. Thanks!
I'm currently using a Mission Engineering EP-25 Pro. Really amazing expression pedal with multiple outs, and just a wonderful sweep due to its unique curved design. But that one might be too much for your needs. The Moog EP-3 is great as well. Best bang for the bug expression pedal in my book. The Boss EV-30 dual expression is really awesome as well!
@@thepedalzone Thanks for the response. I bit the financial bullet and went with the EP 25 based on your recommendation. Keep doing what you're doing. Great vids and great playing!

They are both equally awesome. But if you want to play loud like me, then the Spirit is designed to handle those types of SPLs better via its pad that can go to -20dB. The Origin can only go down to -10dB. But they both capture your sound phenomenally 👌
Hahahaha! Comment of the day for sure ❤ Happy you enjoyed it, man. That mode alone makes the pedal wort it. But then there's just two more modes that are equally awesome, and a ton of expressive possibilities as well. Just such a rad stompbox ☺
I don't really hear that, but Flanger and Chorus are two effects that are very close to each other. The two main differences between chorus and flanger is the delay time between the two moving signals and the existence of feedback. The delay time is shorter in Flangers, which gives a more up-front a pronounced sound, whereas the delay time between the signals in a chorus is longer, giving you a more open and liquid sound. Flangers can also introduce feedback into the delayed modulation signal, creating the classic intense metallic jet-like sound you typically associate with that effect. Chorus doesn't do that. But some chorus pedals will vary the delay time when you change the depth, enabling you to get Flanger-like sounds, and some Flangers let you increase the delay time and remove the feedback for more classic chorus tones. It's a whormhole when you first get into it ☺😂👍
Wow now it's more clear, anyway at 3:50 it sounds a lot to me like an Electric Mistress in my opinion th-cam.com/video/FP7jj6MZXb8/w-d-xo.html from 0:20
