This video will show you how to install new drum or parking brake shoes on your 2015-2020 GMC Yukon. For drum brakes and parking brakes, shoes will eventually need to be replaced. If you are overhauling your rear brake system, or just need to replace worn out shoes.
This repair was done on a 2017 GMC Yukon XL SLE 5.3L Sport Utility 4-Door Automatic and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

Thanks for the video. Buy a Drum Brake Spring Pliers Kit from Harbor Freight for 15 bucks. It makes life easy. Install the springs last. Cheers

BUT for the springs ... I ended up using 3 small zip ties to keep the spring compressed, then just cut them off once I got the retainers on.
TERRIBLE DESIGN! I'm no engineer, but in the 30 minutes of fighting with them I thought of two easy modifications that would make them easier to work with.
