  • Do what must be done. #DunePartTwo only in theaters March 15.
    DUNE: PART TWO
The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
“Dune: Part Two” was filmed on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Italy. The film is slated for a March 15, 2024 worldwide release from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Powerful yet too simple, what if both opposing parties have control over a thing, is each control still absolute? The truest power is to have control over your vector of intent, then you cannot lose for you have already won.

The whole underlying point of Paul's story is the idea that one should beware the dangers of charismatic leaders. Even Paul recognizes this and wrestles with it. The story progresses so organically, nothing felt rushed, the lore and the world comes naturally and keep building up and up. I don't know how much it will be spelled out in Part 2 but in the books the Bene Gesserit explicitly set these prophecies and mini-religions in motion by seeding a particular idea ('the chosen one' etc) and then.....well.....making that person.

I'm really pleased that although this is totally Denis' work in every way, there are nods to the previous 80's version in the props and the costumes. This is genius because he probably knew it would have to be a 2 part (or more) film adaptation and he couldn't count on having all the people who are coming to see it to have read the book(s). Also this bridge is making it easier to keep interest going due to the delay in releasing Part 2. This is going to be an amazing film, might be as good a film for this second installment as was The Empire Strikes Back was for Star Wars (A New Hope.) It might be better than Part 1. It just might.

But it's legit difficult to make a bad trailer for a big budget sci-fi/superhero movie. Cut in some cool shots, cool lines, cool music. that's it. Infinity war, Endgame, Force Awakens, Joker, Batman, Man of Steel, etc. Even some video games trailers are great. Mass effect 3, Witcher 3, Battlefield 1... Tons of great ones if you think about it. Prisoner of the moment.
