I've no real attachment to Dune (though I have enjoyed both movies well enough so far), but when the music kicked in I immediately hit the Like button on the video lol, that score with the desert imagery is something else. Certainly did its job in making me dedicate more memory to when Part 2 is coming out!

To everyone who wishes it had dropped sooner, I say: Villeneuve is making possibly the greatest screen adaptation since the Lord of the Rings, and I'd rather them take a bit longer and get it right than rush and ruin what I believe will be one of the greatest classics of sci-fi ever made.
After reading the books once, in 2005, I've never watched the LOTR movies again. Unfortunatelly for Villeneuve, I've read the Dunes 5-6 times in the last 30 years or so. I know there is absolutely no way he can pull more than 25% of the book so I won"t bother watching his second part. He could have used maximum 30-40% in the first movie, but he didn't. Also Liet a woman? It's disrespectful towards the author.
It's been 43 years for me, I haven't looked forward to a movie this much since "The Empire Strikes Back." Me and a friend saw it 5 or 6 times in the theater, 3X opening day. I may be more excited for this actually, Dune is my favorite book of all time.
A Holiday release would have been so glorious for this movie! I've been waiting over 30 years to see well done movie version... I guess a few more weeks won't hurt?

Whew! Very few movies/trailers give me goosebumps anymore, but this trailer really got me. I truly hope this part 2 does exceedingly well, because I want to see Denis bring Dune Messiah and Children of Dune to the big screen.
There will NEVER be a movie that will get more than 30-40% of the book. Nobody will ever be able to transpose the inner thoughts, extensive world-building, complex political plots, and philosophical themes into images.

the term blockbuster was made from star wars lines in the 80s for the cinemas, literally being multiple street blocks long, and nowadays we lost that meaning to advertising; I believe the bottom of my heart that this film will bring back the old term, meaning that on march 1st, its gonna be one hell of a ride on shai-hulud.
It’s far more about the box office earnings nowadays though and it’s why we have booking times for screenings as holding up multiple streets isn’t viable in most places anymore.

Time for movie theaters to remember the times when there were double/multi-feature presentation. I sat through Alien 1-4 when the last one was release and the same with Leathal Weapon. Very fond memories.
I've got out of the theater an our ago... one word to describe this movie which have millions behind... CATHARTIC... I'm a long time fan of the sci-fi channel saga, and after david linch's i was distrustful of big budget adaptations, and i was starting the books when I heard that there will be your adaptation, so i stopped reading the books to be free to enjoy this... it was all worthwhile... it made my heart run wild and my lungs empty, even i forgot to breed in some parts... it left mute for ten minutes after saw it, and with a knot on my throat of joy and sadness at the same time, and gave me a few great surprises, for those creative liberties taken worked so perfect for me... thank you so very much!
The only flaws I had with the first movie, were that some of the characterisations were not intense enough (like the Dr. beeing the traitor). I think this movie will be an epitome of cinema!
In the book they thoroughly explain his reason for betraying the Duke. Unfortunately, they had to cut corners for part 1 to work. But I have a feeling that part 2 will be a banger. Hopefully it won't let us down

they portrayed feyd rautha a bit different than what i imagined in the book. he was more like the quiet kid brooding about shooting up a school than a cocky bully (that tongue out bit was a tad corny, very jared leto as joker type). rabban was the bully, feyd was something else and thats what made him so sinister and demented like his uncle...but it remains to be seen..
I think it's to make him seem more menacing as a villain against Paul, since the book shows it really as just 2 young men whod been groomed by a power bigger than them trapped into killing each other.
I feel like these Dune films (as long as they let it end here and don't keep milking it) are the The Lord of the Rings of this generation. I just wish they were as popular.

Yes! When it was first released on the WB channel it had really bad compression during the first 10s. But it seems like it’s been replaced with a new file, which makes it a bit better but it isn’t completely gone yet.

I'm very worried about Chani's line, "The prophecy is how they enslave us." If refuting the prophecy is a major plot point it will be a HUGE deviation from the source material, and not necessarily a welcome one.
That bit worried me, too. I'm worried they're going to lean too hard into the romance (which is a part of the story, but it's not a stereotypical "teenage love story", as you'll likely know.) I was excited to see how they portrayed Paul seeing that they'd be in love, thus falling in love, before they'd even reached the point yet.
@@amonrawya3064 My wife has the same worry. Since Chalamet and Zendaya are so popular right now the studio might have pushed hard for it. Here's hoping they don't over emphasize the love story. A nod to Paul marrying Chani for love against his mother's advice to keep the option of an alliance by marriage as a bargaining chip is good enough for me. But based on the trailers it looks like a third of the movie will be romance. So far I'm predicting I'll like the first movie better. I had a thought though. Maybe Chani's line about the prophecy is an alternate future that Paul sees where Chani turns against him, and turns the whole Fremen against him. I hope that's the case!

It's likely to be a 3 hour movie. You've seen less than 10 minutes. And considering how this story spits in the face of the Hero's Journey tropes this trailer hasn't given away much of what happens in this film. The marketing hasnt even hinted at Jessica's plotline, how Irulan factors into Paul's story, and the scope of the Emperor's part in all this. And its glossed over the Barron's role, the true scope of the jihad, and entirely avoided the truth of the Spice.

I still haven't seen the first one. I've been waiting for Part Two so that I can watch them together. I've already read the books several times, so I've not been in a hurry.

Dune Part Two looks immaculate. Timmy still has tears left after the last movie. The explosives are regurgitating to watch.
I'm very worried about Chani's line, "The prophecy is how they enslave us." If refuting the prophecy is a major plot point it will be a HUGE deviation from the source material, and not necessarily a welcome one.
That bit worried me, too. I'm worried they're going to lean too hard into the romance (which is a part of the story, but it's not a stereotypical "teenage love story", as you'll likely know.) I was excited to see how they portrayed Paul seeing that they'd be in love, thus falling in love, before they'd even reached the point yet.
@@amonrawya3064 My wife has the same worry. Since Chalamet and Zendaya are so popular right now the studio might have pushed hard for it. Here's hoping they don't over emphasize the love story. A nod to Paul marrying Chani for love against his mother's advice to keep the option of an alliance by marriage as a bargaining chip is good enough for me. But based on the trailers it looks like a third of the movie will be romance. So far I'm predicting I'll like the first movie better.
I had a thought though. Maybe Chani's line about the prophecy is an alternate future that Paul sees where Chani turns against him, and turns the whole Fremen against him. I hope that's the case!

Because it shows half of the movie? Biggest reveals? One of the worst trailers ever.
It's likely to be a 3 hour movie. You've seen less than 10 minutes. And considering how this story spits in the face of the Hero's Journey tropes this trailer hasn't given away much of what happens in this film. The marketing hasnt even hinted at Jessica's plotline, how Irulan factors into Paul's story, and the scope of the Emperor's part in all this. And its glossed over the Barron's role, the true scope of the jihad, and entirely avoided the truth of the Spice.

After reading the books 5-6 times in the last 30 years, I can tell you 75% of Dune is lost in these movies.
