Nice Ive ridden these bikes since the 80s Still have a 83 XL600R and a 76 XT500 in my shed. I know how to kick em but took an IED hit on my right side my hip, leg and knee are a hot mess. About twice a year I get my buddy and we pull start em with an ATV then we are like to kids wheeling em up and down my long dirt driveway. Enjoyed man thanks.

Fair point, it’s my “Dunglish”. It means kick it one ‘click’ through. If you pressure the kick starter slightly so it moves until the next stop. So JUST through the point of compression. Not all the way down, just a 5cm or so.

why does it matter if you pull up your leg after kicking it down? just curious for the reason.
It'll kick back and potentially break your foot.
Either keep it down or pull it up. Don’t stay halfway or slide of otherwise you’ll get a kickback
