Fantastic Captured by a Fantastic man a true rail lover. stay shine dear friend. Dr. Abdul Rehman is here from the Manchester of Pakistan (Faisalabad) a rail lover. Receive lot of love from Pakistan.
Excellent capture. In India we don't have 2-8-0 specification, furnace oil powered steam locos. Good old British heritage locos still working in Pakistan. Hats off to crew and locoshed personnels. In India we have 2-8-2 and 4-6-2 WP and WG, also YP and YG of same specifications working till 1994 and 1997 on trunk routes. The WP and WG ( Make Baldwin USA, Canadian, Polish, Czech , German ) generates massive power of 2600 HP and can haul 1200 MT of load at 120 kmph. whereas WDM generates only 2200HP.
even Indian railways has three broad gauge i.e wide gague locomotive in operating condition i.e two passenger class and one freight class with road numbers WP 7200 Azad and WP 7161 both passenger class steam locomotive and WG 10253 Ashok a freight locomotive. Not to mention there are few meter gague locomotive preserved too and are in running condition kept and maintained at Rewari steam heritage museum in Haryana state India.
This was really cool! And unexpected! I initially thought it might be a simple heritage service but it looks like they do regular service style runs every now and then...
PR has kept 2227 serviceable for a long time for photo safaris. Unfortunately its boiler was refused a certificate renewal. It is currently Lahore awaiting a possible repair. Fortunately another 3 HG/S hab been kept in reasonable condition and could be brought back to service in a short period of time. At the same time, passenger coaches were repainted in steam era livery and remodified for vacuum breaking such that regular steam revivals can be expected the near future. Let's hope for the best.
@@KochersbergTV There are CWD 5734 and 5735 as well, biggest locomotives ever in PR's inventory. One of these is probably still serviceable and can be revived back.
Thank you for your nice comment. For those concerned, I would like to add that this video was recorded in 8K then down-sampled to 4K. Additionally, it was recorded in HDR, which also requires a compatible display device. This is normally dealt with by TH-cam, with, unfortunately, a degradation of the image quality.
Having railways in blood stream, I'm overwhelmed from you and have to comment(after ages). The Video and specifically the mode you used to exhibit this unforgettable moments. Allured. Do not have words. Respect for your Skills.
Splendid lower quadrant semaphore signals too👍. …though the fireman is overdoing the oil supply to the fire in places, perhaps to please photographers. Beautiful countryside. Firing is perfect at 17:10 and 19:36
Me too: thank you for sharing, Claude! :-) I pity those firemen: apparently they're not taught how to maintain a good fire. (For that, look for the LMS instruction film "Little and often" here on TH-cam.) Leaving a tunnel with black smoke amounts to having survived a suicide attempt. And when you see the safety valve blowing, the driver hasn't bothered to tell the fireman that power won't be needed in the next few minutes. :-( EDIT: I hadn't paid much attention to the tenders to see if the carry coal or oil. I started over at that turntable, but I'm not sure yet. Obviously, there's no shoveling oil... Such black smoke could come from oil, but I put my bet on a fire choked by too much coal.
Sorry to read that your wife is not well. I am not so well myself and had to cancel my participation in the next Farrail tour in Zimbabwe. Let's hope for the best.
Incredibly cool video! Awesome locomotive with small two-axle cars! Beautifully filmed! Thanks for your work!!!! Especially, the frame at 14:23 is like a feature film! Did I understand correctly that this is a cargo transportation, and not an exhibition train?
Thank you for your nice comment. All the trains were charters and carried no freight. Sometimes, the freight trains carried passengers (in the brake vans), i.e. a group of 32 railway fans. No service trains unfortunately.
BRITISH Engineering at its best...Motive Power, Rolling Stock, Bridges and other Infrastructure, and the unrestricted 5'6" gauge...although Metre Gauge ( 3'3.375") was used for secondary and mountainous ( NW Frontier, Assam and Burma) lines. A lot of lowland Metre lines are being Regauged to 5'6" as traffic volume ( and population) has surpassed the 1 Billion mark. A proper scale to gauge model of various India ( & Pakistan) railways is sorely needed...1:87 scale with 19mm model track gauge ....a sort of HO-broad.
This is amazing stuff. Because Pakistan has not electrified their railway, these lines look closer to the golden age of steam than contemporary Indian trains.
Thank you for your kind comment. This video was recorded in December 2021, using three steam locomotives preserved and repaired by the Pakistan Railways.
My goodness Parkerstan Rail Tracks need to be renewed as thet look quite old and the sleepers look like the ones the British laid over a Century ago. Thanks for sharing…….!
in this day and age itmust be cheeper to run steam locos than diesles coal against diesle oil?these sentement were exptessrd in the film moon and sledgehammer ttfn&ty

Exceptional content Kochersberg. Thanks for showing our heritage to the world. Great stuff.

Absolutely stunning sharp and rock-steady videos - none of the mind-numbing zooming in and out that a lot of people do. All in beautiful scenery too.
I'm not particularly interested in trains, but this video is beautiful and an absolute pleasure to watch ❤

Very nice fantastic vlog of Pakistan Railway old is gold.

PR has done a good job in keeping steam heritage alive. Thank you for the great upload and some interesting history. 👌👍
Yes. PR seems to be motivated for running a number of steam trains now that it has three usable steam locomotives. Let's hope takes place.
@@KochersbergTV Is it a recent news? I have been missing steam for a long time now.

You are right: the fireman was deliberately producing back smoke to please some photographers. I complained about it, but with little results.

Indian Railways has marched a long way ahead of Pakistan. But maintaining these heritage ones, Pakistan has done a better job than India.
I don't think you have seen Rewari Steam Shed. It's better than what we see here.

280 km of track was electrified in 1964 but it was closed in 2011
