How about no carts allowed and you just gotta get a super fit caddy to run ahead of you with your clubs and chase your ball. Dude would get hit in the back of the head so many times.
Kevin Na did it a couple years back on the PGA tour and shot pretty good still. Finished barely under 2 hours on 18 holes

The thing I like about MDKraus and Sir Tyler's early recording is this: As long as you have a camera, a game, and enough skill, anyone can speedrun. Sure, the quality may not be the best, but you can still do it. If the game you are running is on a computer, all you need is recording software (several computers these days have built-in recording software).
Update: I am speedrunning this game casually. School and other priorities take precedent, but I am on the leaderboard (and my PB is on my channel).

NOVEMBER 2021 Update: Sir_Tyler's 10:14 is still the world record, with MineXeniM being the only other player with a sub-10:20 run of the game, doing so with a 10:19 in October of 2021.

@@helpgirlimhavingalifecrisis a month or 2 ago, JaidenAnimations released a video about speed running Cooking Mama and it went super viral (like everything else she makes) and after that video so many people started submitting runs of cooking mama that speedrun.com crashed. The site was going under transition to new ownership at the time and the new owners (and other speedrunners) now refer to that moment as the "Jaiden Incident". Basically exactly the same thing as the video's "Darbian Effect" but this Jaiden and the site actually crashed lol. The game is still actively run today. I think its specifically cooking mama 2.

Tyler is like a shonen main character. He starts out weak with his terrible camera set up, seemingly surrounded by runners way too strong for him, but eventually overtakes them and gets stronger, becoming the undisputed champion of them. Eventually his progress awakens an ancient power that seems unstoppable, and wipes the floor with him, making him reconsider what it means to be fast in wii sports resort. Then, finally, he finds himself and takes the record back, surpassing everyone's expectations.

But then he played another 2000 more times to beat it again. Tyler is hard to beat on the basis that he spends his entire life on the game, while the others don't care much.

The humor in this video is actually a bit relieving. It’s nice to have a lot of serious but good sections, with a few jokes thrown in. Makes the video just *that* much better. Not all one thing, not all another. 10/10
It helps that this is a less serious video. Salt's voice is very monotone and serious, which makes the humor work. But it does not distract people from the more intense sides of this video. Reminds me of the ninja gaiden speedrun video

Seems odd.
Could you imagine an actual golf speed run? A quick google says the average course is around 6,600 yards long so you’d basically be running a 5k (actually it’s almost exactly 6k) while golfing. Overall score would be some function of time and strokes.
It’d be like Biathlon, but with golf! Times of well under an hour for 18 holes should be possible, and pros would probably be under half an hour.

I feel ya. Never cared all that much for speedrunning, but then I discovered Summoning Salt and have been much more interested in it ever since. Pretty fascinating stuff
Honestly, even just doing time trial modes in games like CTRNF and Mario Kart 8 have made me appreciate speedrunners a lot more and how difficult it can be to even get a second ahead.

When you shave 33 seconds of a game that came out the week before... its not the same as when you do it on a game that came out at least a couple of months ago. I’ve never been into the video game speed record stuff. But you just made a great video. I was glued and so interested in where the record would finish, what new speed player was gonna show up and take it.

I did some math, over 4000 hours of gameplay (averaging 12 minutes per run just a guess) that is 80 hours a week in the period of a year.

Your videos are the best, shows that speedrunning is cooler than ever. These runs around 10-11min are insane and thats about how long it takes for a group to play one hole in real life at a normal/fast pace. Some of these runners really started making decisions and club choices like real pro golfers lmao I'm sure they would love golf if they tried it.
If anyone wants to see a real life 1-hole speed run, "european tour fastest hole" on youtube is 4 guys trying to play a single hole in less than 28 seconds, a crazy challenge with similar strategy to how speedrunners operate in this video. Great vid as always mate
