Vanadam has been Onyx rank in every halo game (Reach,5 and infinite) and reached very high ranks in Halo 2 and 3 solo queue. With over 14 years of insight I help players who want to improve reach higher ranks.

I appreciate the content. Its nice to have clear, concise advice without clickbait or drama. Its also nice to see more realistic gameplay from lower ranks and not just insane 40+ kill games. I'd love to see more graphics where you refer to the map. Keep it up.

I must admit this has pointed out some flaws in my gameplay that I wouldn't have noticed myself. I love the disrupter particularly on controller, it might be weak but it feels amazing to use, as for the commando I'm practicing it but still completely useless with the thing. Pressing back never actually crossed my mind, coming from siege I'm used to counting bodies but doing it with a timer has sort of come naturally to me. Its once I'm in a fight while people are spawning that I screw it up. I did apologize for my very poor nade in chat. Thanks for including the clip of you showing what you would have done in the situation of running the ball c. I loved the inclusion of the skill jumps you mentioned as they have proven useful in the past and in my current gameplay. I must admit towards the end we were completely shitting ourselves as the game was so close. Knowing what I do well helps seriously helps me in the future so I don't unnecessarily change these things thinking they are mistakes. Thank you so much for taking the time to review my vod and ill make sure to work on everything you mentioned.
I think you have alot of strong skills from other games that show and allowed you to slay out that game. as you move into diamond the challenge will be abusing ball resets, objective placements and crossfire.
onyx is more of the same except the enemy team are a cohesive unit and will rotate your spawn on purpose and you have to counter it as a team. the higher you go the more cohesion of teams matter.

23:01 was painful to watch. He had NO IDEA he had repulsor(5). He could have really cleaned house there at Hydro, killing 2 to 3 enemies total (effortlessly repulsing 2 enemies off the map at least)… or if that failed just reset the oddball. Opportunity missed but it happens.

He played well, definitely enjoying the vod reviews. Learn a fair amount from them, find new things to incorporate into gameplay and especially what you said about mindset, i panic a lot towards a tight endgame.

its hard not panic at the end but it will cause you to go into "fight or flight" response where you think emotionally rather than logically its hard to overcome but great players find ways to do it.

I panic when just from breaking an enemies shield... literally emptied 2 clips from pistol frantically aiming for headshot rofl, and I'm decent at tactical slayer

At the start of round 2, if you throw a grenade as you jump up to top elevator you can land it at the long hall door as they get there then clean em up as they head to gold stairs

I love the disrupter. Shoot 3 or 4 shots as it's automatic, then switch to br and one shot dead. I win 1v1 with disrupter every time.
my opinion on it is changing I actually have been trying it more and more and while it isn't op it is slept on in certain scenarios!

Disruptor got updated now, the electric damage is very consistent. I've been getting a lot of From the grave and double kills from people that die after by the electric damage or get closer to a teammate that is one shot and pass the electric damage to that said player
I think if opponents have bad aim it's great but if someone is rifling you the ttk on a disruptor is much longer. the zap effect is very strong in group scenarios though.
also you can shoot obj plates to chain lightning enemies hiding in annoying areas like batteries :p
I stay away from the disruptor. All the matches I end up in have enemy players that can kill you fully shielded in under a second. Lol. If possible I always try to find the plasma pistol and just blow their shields away with one shot then quick swap to the ma40 and finish them. My favorite load out is the plasma pistol and bulldog shotgun. Using the charged blast of the plasma pistol then quick swapping to the shogun one shot will take them out before they can blink. Lol.

Hey man, how do I go about submitting my vid? I would LOVE to have someone review my gameplay. I generally float around the Diamond 1-Diamond 2 area. Highest i've ever been since the first reset is D4. I really would love to make a push to Onyx and I think a breakdown like this would help me a ton as I feel like ive plateued as a player.
also, should I send a vid of a game where I feel that I performed well? or a game where I performed poorly? Thanks!

@@VanadamYT ok great! But like, how do I even go about getting a game recording to you? I play on Xbox..can I send a full game straight from the theatre? Or do I need to download another program that screen records it? Sorry, I suck at technology lol
@@joshjoyce7537 if you're on xbox you could use game DVI to record the length of a match and then send it to your Microsoft account on drive. (you need to join your accounts to do this) you can then upload it to youtube from there OR send me a link to it :)

Bear in mind Onyx 1500 in season 1 is equivalent to Diamond 1 to 2 in today's lobbies. The skill level has increased due to the number of people playing and learning the game. His tips are still solid tho, and I enjoy his videos. Idk if he can offer any real advice on your gameplay due to the fact you are more than likely playing higher than his skill level at this time. But a good coach doesn't have to be a remarkable player themselves as long as they know how to help people achieve good results, then the advice is solid.

What about using the disruptor in a drop tech situation? I've used it to great effect, but I am not in Onyx so maybe this is something I won't be able to get away with in the harder lobbies, but it works great in Platinum level.
drop techs were good opportunities to out ttk opponents and even block projectiles but 343 removed the speed of drop tech to match weapon swapping sadly :( its a similar situation to snap sliding they didn't like it so they removed it
@@VanadamYT Idk why they did that, they also for some reason gave MNK players aim assist. This kind of gives MNK a superior input over controller players now, as controller players needed the aim assist in order to have a benefit that would cancel out the speed benefit and accuracy of MNK players. From my experience it isn't a large boost for the MNK players, but they routinely get 50 to 60% accuracy per game.
I think the aim changes were needed but what we got is very strong, too strong. I need to do more reading before I make a proper comment.
@@VanadamYT yeah I agree. I mean it's somewhat needed for controller players, but MNK players didn't need aim assist in my humble opinion. It is what it is. The way to adjust is solid teamwork and a good strafe and it negates the one sweaty player on the enemy team more times than not I think. ☺️

after the buff the disrupter is actually pretty good you’ll probably die but it get a lot of trades plus it melees faster
changing my opinion on it slowly it's not a great dueling weapon but for team fights it's always been ok :)
I really enjoyed H5’s Oddball maps more than Infinite’s. When your ball carrier in H5 I feel like there was so many more jumps and ledges you could use to out play a collapsing team to get away with your life without necessarily sacrificing ball time. I think my favorite was Eden Oddball. So much good movement tech on that map even for ball carrier.
I feel like so much of that has been lost in the way Infinite’s maps are designed.
I hope someone makes Eden in Forge.
I think halo infinite map design and asymmetry with less ball play spots leads to some frustrating games which is a departure from older maps like Haven from h4, guardian from h3 and the h5 map that slips My mind that was on top of the skyscrapers. I think some commands we've lost are a shame as objective play felt more dynamic and 5 but i think the sandbox in general for infinite leans more to h3 and is more fun. I really did enjoy h5s focus on movement though (I loved breakout!)

I watched til end. I "knew" most of this, but still doesn't seem to work ingame. Especially if other team has at least two in a party, nevermind 3 or 4.
there are some things communication cant beat, if you're close in skill to your opponents then whoever has better comms will win, unfortunately a large amount of players dont play with microphones on which is one of my biggest pet peeves
I'm the only one speaking a lot of times and just end up making observational comments on our team's collective loss ("haha")

If you look out on the community forge creations there are some pro forgers who have even made AI boss battles, and 343 have said that campaign AI is likely to be added so its only a matter of time! :)
mate whats ur settings, i still struggle with the settings on this game? on h3 i played 4 and everything just felt so natural. on infinite, everything feels so weird
settings is something that is very hard to properly describe as many people use different settings for different reasons. generally I use bumper jumper with reassigned buttons on my paddles on the xbox elite series 2.

I run quite modest sens for aiming which is
4 h, 4v, accel is default (10?)
dead zones are around 4 and set to spherical rather than true diagonal....

rn i have deadzones at 0, 0, 1 then 0, 0, 2. sens is 1.5 2 with 2 accel (default). FOV = 105. it feels okay but not great, a year ago it felt amazing for a bit but now i keep tweaking. i was on 5, 0, 5 and 5, 0, 12.5 with sens at 4, 5 or something. please make a vid please, h3 was so simple and felt good. and wdym by spherical and not true diagonal?
@@lek4367 did you know the reduced some of the aim assist on the BR? additionally i found that 105 FoV was too difficult to aim on so i play 97 now!
@@VanadamYT yh ik but even before the nerf it wasn't great. My settings now are good tbf but not perfect and infinite settings has always felt foreign to me

Would you put time and effort getting better at something that doesn't reward you. Playing halo infinite feels like work. Hardly get any matches, when I do get them it's 240 ping "unstable latency". Ugh
the ping is an issue and I think is very subjective to where you live and when you can play. I can easily get games at 30ms at peak times. I imagine this isn't the case for Australian/central Asia or South america
I hate this ranked system, players get rewarded for hunting kills and not playing objective. There is always AT LEAST one player on my team that can't get a sniff of the objective at least 90% of the game. This guy wasn't bad but it is god awful that everyone thinks they're a slayer and they get rewarded for having a good K/D but never even playing near the objective. They just leach on teammates playing the actual game. It's clear so many people at this rank, and even early diamond, don't care about winning, only trying to slay out as much as possible. Also the communication is ass and there are plenty of team killers that don't get punished
this was the case before, it has been changed so this is less of a factor. though I would be lying if I said it didn't have any issues what so ever.
