So nice to see an actual real home like mine with chipped paint and mess! Also nice to see not everyone has the fancy cabinets and drawers. Keep up the good work mama!
7:45 THANK YOU for showing the mess!!!!! Watching these cleaning videos sometimes is ridiculous when the kitchen is spotless 🙄 then you're not learning anything and your own house becomes so daunting!! Thanking for bringing the real it means so much to some of us!!!!!!!!!
Great cleaning motivation! I liked it because it was a true, honest to goodness farm kitchen cleaning. So many cleanings already look amazing and have brand new cabinets, etc. so I think it’s nice to see down to earth and quite common household settings! And by the way- your kitchen is adorable!
What a treasure of honesty you are. Your upbringing from the old ways by your parent/grandparents, is irreplaceable with "modern ways", and 100% PRICELESS. Thank you so much for sharing your deep cleaning video... I just pray that the "modern" liberal ideology that is so rampantly infectious in our public and many subsidized Christian schools today will not stain the minds of your precious children or change the wonderful values you have taught them. NEVER feel like "modern" is better somehow...because there is absolutely no better way than the "natural, attentive and loving way" your mother and grandmother raised you under, which is also evident in the way you are raising your own. And - YES... God IS Good! And, so is your way of life; which pleases Him greatly! Be blessed.
100%! So relatable. Nice to know I’m not the only one whose cabinets are scratched up and worn and stuff collecting under the stove and above the cabinets/fridge.
Hello Ruthann! I just found your channel and am really enjoying it! I would like to share a little tip regarding the top of kitchen cabinets… I am quite short and have difficulty reaching up there even when standing on the counter so once a year I climb a ladder and lay wax paper there. It catches all the dust and grease. I just throw away the old paper and since everything underneath is mostly clean, just needs a quick wipe. Hope it helps you and your followers! ❤😊
Wow! Makes me tired just watching you!! But I love a really clean home! At my 85 years, I don’t seem to have the “ get up and go” that I had a few years ago! I loved cleaning my home, fixing healthy meals for my children and husband. That was such a blessing to have a family and a home to love. I have been inspired by your daily “ duties “, I just have to adjust them to my level of energy and ability!! Love your show, wish all new moms could, would watch and learn from you. And yes, I agree, our God is so good!!
One way to keep the tops of your cabinets easier to clean is to lay down wax paper, parchment paper, butcher paper or even paper towels. 🥰 You did a phenomenal job deep cleaning that kitchen ❤️ now, if I could just get the motivation to do mine 🤪
Ruthann, you are most definitely not alone!! I actually did a deep clean of my kitchen before Christmas and it was equally as bad (my refrigerator was worse due to a freezing/exploding 1/2 gallon jar of milk 😱). It is actually really nice to see a "normal" working - gets dirty kitchen vs the perfect pristine kitchens/homes on social media. Thank you for this video, even though it is not my favorite job at all, it does feel good when it's all done!
Hi RuthAnn. Here's a tip (for anyone interested) - visit your local carpet store(s) for vinyl scraps. The scraps will come in a variety of patterns but because they're not from the roll, they often give away the scraps OR sell for pennies on the dollar. As they'll be inside kitchen/bathroom cabinets (and under supplies), it won't matter compromise aesthetics. Cut to cabinet-shelf size and set inside. Don't worry about gluing. Pros: 1. Protects wood/cabinet material from water damage 2. Protects wood/cabinet material from gauging 3. Some cushion for china/glass ware 4. EASY CLEAN UP! Cons 1. Finding the scraps 2. Cutting the scraps (I use a razor knife like a box-cutter) to size 3. You will loose ~1/4" of cabinet height on each shelf. Blessings!
One of greatest gifts my mom gave me was a stack of microfiber wash cloths. Best for the hard cleaning. Having said that, I cannot tell you how big a blessing you have been in my life. I’m a 67 yr old and I have to do things alone. But you’ve inspired me to push myself. I made my first jar of fermented cabbage today. Last week I took a sourdough class and the proud owner of starter I’m feeding. Tomorrow is bread day! I got my for jars canning lids and your coleslaw is my next project. It will be my first canning project. I also got my first Azure order last week and made your granola. Thank you and so many blessings to you and your family.
First, wonderful inspiring reminder. Thank you. Two tips that work for me; 1. I have two buckets, one filled with the hot, soapy water along with plenty of clean rags. As I clean, I toss the dirty rag in the second bucket and get a clean one from the soapy water bucket. You can go over the surfaces as often as needed, but still have a clean rag. All rags get rinsed out and put in the washer. 2. Tops and inside of cabinets - I line them with the stick-down floor tiles. It's a time consuming job, but it's a one time thing and can be broken into sections. The floor tiles clean up and disinfect much easier than wood and are pretty much a permanent fix to shelf liners. Places to definitely use the tiles is under the sink and on the tops of cabinets that are open to collecting all the grease, even if you don't want to put them in all the cabinets. The tiles are not overly expensive and practicality never have to be replaced. I also use white, or the lightest color tile possible. In my current kitchen I even resorted to painting the inside of the cabinets white. My kichen is dark and this extra effort makes finding things so much easier. This comes from experience of living in a 100+ year old house. Thank you again. I'm glad all those toys got found. Someone was wondering where they were. I hope the M&Ms got eaten. They were still good. Just dust them off. 😊
M&M's get lousy after a certain length of time...ESPECIALLY when kept in a kitchen not a pantry, lol...they do the melt and harden thing inside multiple times with no clear signs on the outside
OMGosh!!!! You are a gift to me. When you said, "As you can see SOME of them are more willing ...". I love you all the more. Thank you for being honest.
Thank you so much for being so transparent. That's what working kitchens look like!! I never learned to clean from my family and my husband has taught me but still the one that knows how to truly get things clean. One suggestion my husband would add is to use a crevice cleaner attachment on a strong vacuum and vacuum the back and lean it back and vacuum the bottom of your refrigerator. As the fans on it work, it draws in dust and dirt that clog the refrigerator so it cannot work as it should. It will shorten the life of your refrigerator. Thanks for such great videos!! You edit perfectly...it shows enough to understand but moves quickly. I LOVE your teaching!!
Im 9 months late to this but thank you for this! I was not taught how to clean and embarrassingly after 13 years of marriage Im still clueless on how to deep clean or even clean well. This was the perfect step by step instruction that I needed! No one else gives this much detail and seem to just assume every one already knows how to do it. I don't, so, thank you! My biggest issue is too much stuff we use very occasionally but have to store in the kitchen because we have no basement, attic, or garage.
Thank you for making this video. I really needed the motivation today to finish the deep cleaning for fall before our kids come for the second hunting season. Our home is log and I love the beauty of the natural rounded logs. Keeping them free of spider webs, ash and dust from the logs I agree with the Thieves Even used it with a scrub brush on the logs . Saturday I made the sourdough bread for the second time in a week so I have fresh bread ready to have anytime. 😂 One loaf with sharp cheddar and jalapeno slices folded into the dough as I formed it into the loaf. Love the improved texture and softness. You are an inspiration for this 77 year old granny who misses my milk cows and making fresh butter!!❤ you my dear.
*Super proud of you for doing this!* There are so many younger people who truly don’t know how to do a “proper clean” now-they were never taught or didn’t watch (if it ever happened to begin with!) I must say, I’m impressed. That’s a lot of energy and you are a strong lady to have done it the way you did. *Thank you for the inspiration!* ~~QM ❤️🇺🇸
Cleaning a farm home (with children and animals) is very different than cleaning a suburb or city home. I've had both and can tell you I never had to clean up chicken, horse or cow poop off the floors in my suburb or city home! Yes, I wiped my feet but somehow it always gets in!! I'll NEVER go back to suburb or city again! LOVE, LOVE country life!
I have lived in my apartment for 23 years. Last month the refrigerator was replaced for the first time. The floor underneath was black with grime. It took about 30 minutes to clean the wall and floor and I was using a scraper to remove the top layer. I resorted to bleach and a scrub brush to get the last of it clean.
Thank you for showing what a real kitchen looks like! The underside of my fridge and stove look just like that! I was never taught how to efficiently clean so seeing you be so thorough helps me learn. 😊
Thank you for being real and showing that real homes get dirty! Also thank you for teaching us how to be better stewards of our home, I was never taught how to properly clean and I am learning ways I can improve!
It was wonderful seeing your kids help you clean. Deep cleaning is definitely not my favorite thing to do, especially the kitchen. After cleaning the top of my fridge and the tops of the cabinets, seeing all the dust, dirt, and grease, I was shocked. I decided to line the tops of the cabinets with newspaper to prevent this from happening again. I folded the paper to fit down on top of the cabinets, and I taped as I went across. As for my fridge, I found on Amazon a cover ment for the tops of the washer and dryer and used it for the top of the refrigerator. When it gets dirty, I just toss it in the wash. The newspaper worked, and after almost a year, I checked the tops of my cabinets and found the newspaper was dirty and greasy. I was pleased it did the job. I live in Arizona, so dust, unfortunately, is something you have to live with.
Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who cleans cords and areas no one ever sees...lol.😊 mom upheld the spring cleaning routine even though she did not grow up mennonite...she married an ex mennonite. We went to a private mennonite started high school, and we were encouraged 1 week out of the school year in spring to hire ourselves out to help people with spring cleaning but the pay went to the school as a donation.
For stubborn grease, I use a product called Krud Kutter. My understanding is that it's less toxic for the environment, and the fumes aren't as overwhelming as some cleaners. I can get it at places like Lowe's, or Home Depot, but I have noticed that my local Walmart has started carrying it, too.
You are always an inspiration to me. Your videos help me realize some of the things I have forgotten and give me the umph it takes to tackle them. I'm 70 ans alone so I tend to forget that things simply collect dust and grease no matter how messy (or not) that we are. Thank you again! You are needed! And Loved❣️🥰
It’s nice to see that your house gets dirty just like mine. I always feel like my house gets dirtier than ever everyone else’s no matter how hard I try to be neat. Your video makes me feel better. I loved this video. I don’t usually watch cleaning videos either, but I enjoy your videos because you are very real. You could be my neighbor. Actually I would enjoy having you as a neighbor
New subscriber, watching older videos… Great inspiration for deep cleaning. I try to do rooms throughout the year to spread it out, but I don’t get it done as often as I would like. I work full time from home, so I use my lunch time to clean most days. I do it very much the same as you. I don’t buy many commercial cleaners or devices, but I did purchase an inexpensive steamer to clean my floors. I really like it and feel it does a good job. The one difference for me is that I always wear gloves. My hands get so dry from the water that it can takes a week to get them back to normal if I do any amount of cleaning without gloves. 😊
You always are genuine and transparent with all of us. And you have a lot of wonderful content. You inspire more people than any of the haters and crazy ppl. Thank you for being real. Real life with a house full of children requires us all to need to deep clean. You are a very hard working, loving and teaching mother. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with all of us. ❤
Hello! Someone may have mentioned this already but what I do on top of my cupboards is roll out wax paper. It is the exact size to lay down there. Next time you need to clean, crumple up the wax paper with all the greasy dirt on it and lay down new paper! It saves a lot of work, and is not expensive to do : ) This motivates me to do another clean after all my canning and Christmas baking
That side of your stove when you pulled it out looks just like mine. Once a year I deep clean, and yep…lots of spills! But it cleans up nicely. Thanks for being real ❤
I put clear appropriately sized totes in the bottom cabinets to store pans etc. I have a 1901 Victorian style farm home. I painted the inside of the wood cabinet shelves with white kitchen paint (easy to clean) then put some clear sticky bottomed shelf liner down on the shelf. The totes slide in and out easily. I can see what is in the cabinet without climbing in it. And it’s easy to clean. I’ve had this system for five years and it’s still working well.
I use up Christmas wrapping paper that's left over from a roll to line my drawers and top of cabinets. That way I declutter my wrapping paper stash and its always fun to see nice paper even if its a year later. Brings on a smile. Sometimes I repurpose the larger brown paper bags too which can the go into my compost heap afterwards.
no one ever taught me anything about cleaning house. born into a 'hoarding' family. i am thrilled to find your videos! step by step without making me feel bad about myself. i was quite shocked after intently watching the entire video, looked up, and MY house wasnt any cleaner! LOL no really, this is very comforting to watch, and i can use your 'procedures' to improve my surroundings too, i cant thank you enough!!
I absolutely love any video you put out! You are a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. Only heaven knows how many women, older women , middle aged women and new young moms learn these skills! You teach with grace and understanding. I truly hope you are blessed by knowing you, your mother and Grandmothers dedication to teaching skills are now teaching woman to be wonderful disciplined and “cheerful” homemakers! Thank you, Ruthann.
Tip to keep the top of your top cupboards clean - place sheets of waxed paper over the tops. When it's time to clean just throw the waxed paper away and lay down fresh sheets.
You've motivated me to start deep cleaning.. have been putting it off but so happy you shared with us! I'm thrilled your channel came up in my feed. Love the fact that you show it as it truly is because that's how most of our homes are as well. I've been watching many of your helpful ideas. Thank you so much! New subscriber.
Hehe, the trusty butter knife! My mom taught me this, and I had forgotten until I saw you do it. Don't be afraid to show the dirt. The most popular videos are before-and-after's and everyone can use a few good tips!
Thank you for your video. You did a wonderful job. I remember those days I used to be a freak and keeping things so clean my family members used to make fun of me because I was so particular but let me tell you since I’ve got older and disabled those days are gone, I only remember it in my head and wish it would get done by itself First of all, don’t judge yourself to the American women. Yes they have kids most work, but it is in no way that they live on a big farm with all these animals and so many kids helping out in the yard and back into the house. They have a small house Roads most likely sidewalk usually a lot of grass in the yard, so please don’t feel bad. I admire you again thanks for the video. It brings back memories to me.😂😂😂❤❤ IT….
I love Thieves cleaner too....everything smells so good and fresh. I have back and hip issues so the deeper cleaning is getting done much slower and much less often these days. I think I may have to get some sliding drawers put in one of my cabinets so I don’t have to bend down and get on my knees to get to the back of them - I’m 76 and things like that are sometimes not possible for me. Blessings, Marlene
You have done a great job so far. Tell the children to put all where it goes so that the next time so much of their time will be less also. God bless you.
I applaud you for being so real. I had to chuckle to myself with your stove & fridge ... because the last time I pulled out my stove & fridge they were very similar to yours and it's just the 2 of us. My uncle, who was a dairy farmer, would say, 'I love work! I could sit & watch it all day.'😂
Ruth Ann , I appreciated your video and being so vulnerable sharing the dirty areas and how you clean . I see you have a black cooktop . I do as well and I like to use Bon Ami with a little bit of water to make a paste to get it clean again . Then go back with clean water and rag and wipe down and then I use soapy water to clean and wipe down . Thanks foe all you share .
Showing your dirt... thank you!!! Makes me feel not alone!!! We live in Winneshiek County, Iowa... Love that you are in Iowa and not that far away... Love your you tube show and always enjoy seeing the family work together!!!
Get a strip that goes between the cabinet and stove. Has saved me a lot of mess falling down the side of my stove! They are called silicone stove/ counter gap fillers.
I just suddenly received your first video. At least it was a first for me and I am just thrilled. There seems to be NOTHING you cannot do. I subbed immediately. And although I feel like a lazy sloth while watching, I still watch!
I loved this cleaning video because it was real and showed real world dirt! I know the tops of my cabinets are in terrible need of a cleaning, you have inspired me to start a deep cleaning in my kitchen. Thank you for sharing Ruth and have a great day🌻
Miss Ruth, I clean exactly the same way, spring and fall. Isn't it amazing how dirty those under and on top places get. I have never seen or known anyone, until now, who cleans like I do. My mother's maiden name was Zimmerman. Must be in the DNA, lol. Your name caught my eye, I've been loving watching you for a couple of months.
I don’t recall ever seeing my grandmother clean. My mother wouldn’t let me wear shoes in the house and believed that dusting would disturb the natural order of the universe. My stepmother criticized my inability to effectively clean as a young teen. Thank you. I have no helpful hints or modern methods to impart. Perhaps that’s a good thing!
I once had a fridge on wheels-now my new fridge is like yours so I haven’t moved it. Wish companies would continue to add wheels on fridges. Love you shows!!❤️💕❤️
Don't be embarrassed by the dirt. LOL. I too have a farm kitchen and I have all that dirt too. I too had a Mom and Grandma that deep cleaned twice a year. I do it once a year and have to start with the kitchen b/c it is always the worst. My pantry gets to be a mess because of all the bulk spices and baking ingredients that I use on a daily/weekly basis. I dread that part of my kitchen every year. I don't know if there is any other or better way of cleaning a kitchen except good old soap and water and elbow grease. That works for me and that is what I use. Really greasy spots on my cabinets, I use a little rubbing alcohol and a soft rag. Then rinse with warm water. Makes them shine and takes the grease right off without the lingering smell of harsh cleaners. Your kitchen looks great! Wonderful job!
Omgoodness now we all feel sooooooo guilty 🤣😆🤣😆 You did an amazing job! Glad to see you with a new video. Love how the children helps. Enjiy seeing all the beautiful animals on the farm. Best wishes 💐🙏🇺🇲
Ruthann, you are the most honest person I have ever met. You tell it like it is. Your work ethic is out of this world. You inspire me and know that it's all right to just go with the flow. Take care and God bless, Lori Wilson.
A layer of saran wrap on top of the cabinets is super easy to remove and will catch all the dust and grease. And it's really really cheap. You could also put aluminum foil down and it tucks easily into the corners. Great job mom!!!!!
This was FABULOUS! I remember doing this with My Mom and Aunt! These are very FOND memories for me, and a reminder that I need to get back at it myself! Thanks!
Yes, that’s how my grandmother and mother taught me. I always do a spring and fall deep cleaning. My mother is 82 years old, but as the old saying goes, you could eat from her floors. Thank you for a wonderful inspirational video, makes me want to start my spring cleaning. I hope you and your family have a blessed weekend!
Hello from Athens, Greece. I just found your channel and am enjoying your content. I also deep clean my house twice a year but the kitchen more often. In order to make my cleaning easier on top of the cabinets and the grease does not become sticky I usually put newspapers on top of them.
We are moving to a double wide mobile home on 1.05 acres so I’m watching all of your videos for tips and inspiration. I too love you honest down to earth explanations so thank you!
You would love a handheld steam cleaner. I love mine. It feels so good when this is all done. It makes me feel more inspired to take on a new year. I do this is in January as well.
I love the practical cleaning approach! And what a motivation to get my kitchen cleaned this spring before preserving season takes over! Thanks Ruth Ann!
❤ love your videos! I doubt anyone can honestly say ,their kitchen is always pristine clean. Mines not! I work hard in my kitchen to. Cooking and canning, ect. Ruthanne, you are one very hard working woman. And I love your honesty. 😊
This video and others have definitely helped me get better at being a good homemaker. They show that you're not alone in these struggles and a lot of people don't like to clean, but do it because it needs to be done. As odd as that is, it makes me what to take keeping a clean home more seriously to keep the house up for my family too. 🥰
Looks great! Your videos are real. Don’t need filters. We like you because of your realness. Many of us with kids and even grandkids can relate to you. Real life gets messy and that is okay. Thank you.
This is the first cleaning video I’ve ever seen. I saw quite a few tips for me to use. I am not good at cleaning.. I need all of the help and inspiration that I can get!! I’d rather be in my garden…LOL.
One time saver is a roll of white freezer paper (the kind meat's wrapped in for freezing) with which you line the tops of your cupboards. Just carefully lift and fold inwards each deep cleaning season. Be sure to fold sides upwards to cover indention "walls" too. All the dirt, grease and dust is removed on that paper 😊 This helps so much, especially for shorter people like me 😉. I use rubbing alcohol in very hot water to wash my windows, mirrors and picture glass...dry with paper towels for streak-free finish. Very hot water and vinegar for mopping the floor. You go young lady! 😊
I own a house Cleaning company in San Diego and when I do the top of the cupboards I lay down paper towels to line the top and it keeps it from getting the hard to remove grease dust as we call it. ❤thank you so much for your video’s I’ve learned so much! Thank you, thank you and god bless you and your beautiful family ❤
A old tooth brush is wonderful to get in those tight grooves & corners. I also use a clear wrap on top of my shelves to keep the dirt & grease trapped, less scrubbing. Now I feel I may need to do a re- check in my cabinets. Just 2 of here now. So many things could be donated or gifted to others. Thank you for sharing. We just had a issue with our refrigerator. We were very surprised at the dust & dog hair that was behind the bottom panel of our refrigerator. Maybe next time remove that piece.
Thank you!!! You’ve motivated me, I recently had to clean behind my fridge and clean the entire inside as well as it had to be moved to be repaired and of course had to be cleaned first! After I did that and was thoroughly disgusted with how bad both places had become I vowed to continue on and just keep cleaning my whole entire kitchen but much like you cleaning is not my passion and is just a necessity my mom I remember watching her down on her hands and knees washing the floor and using a butter knife to scrape off any hard patches on the kitchen floor that couldn’t be easily wiped off. She would wash and scrub and everything was always shining clean when she was done and even my kids called her Mrs. Clean as her nickname. Mom passed away over a year ago and while I think of her every single day I cringe at the thought of her seeing from Heaven the state of my apartment and just how disorganized it’s become and wish I could work hard to get it all packed up and looking nice and organized not to mention sparkling clean. Who knows maybe someday but in the meantime we suppose I’ll just keep plugging along one room at a time. God bless and thank you for sharing you truly have inspired me!🥰🇨🇦❤️🙏🏻
Your kitchen isn't bad at all. You keep a tidy home. That's takes a lot of energy. I do like the magic eraser for a lot of my cleaning. One thing I learned while I had my cleaning business was a little furniture polish or very lite coat of oil on the glass shower doors helps the soap build up from sticking I always hang a shower curtain in the shower and that keep the build up on the glass. You're a wonderful mother by the way! Thanks for the video.
You bring me back to a life a once knew. Cold winters with a coal and wood stove. Soot on every surface. The heat from that stove brought so much warmth and cooking meals as well. I clean the way that you do. With a knife and rag to get in between the cracks and crevices. My father raised hogs until he just couldn’t do it. I have my mother’s kerosene lamp I use it if there is a power outage. Thank you for the memories.
That was the best ever! Showing all those spots no one wants to take the time to get to yet understanding that if you don’t…well let’s just say there’s a lot of unwanted creatures who would love it! I think that one feels more light and clean having completed this task…and your family is eating food prepared in this area too. So many people are “not my problem” when actually it is! My son builds and rents brand new homes and the way people leave them for someone else…well they need this video Ruthann! Thank you for being brave enough to share! My mom cleaned this way too!
There’s nothing more satisfying than doing a deep clean! Thanks so much for an instructive video. I appreciate your dedication to your family and your community.💗
Thanks for sharing your Real Homestead Life! Great way to motivate both mature homemakers (like me) & newbies too! Often young homemakers feel they & their homes don't measure up because their homes don't look like the elaborate spotless ones seen on many channels. Thanks for keeping it real❣️🙂
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, but I recommend putting sheets of any kind of paper (brown/white/news) or clingfilm or kitchen foil down on top of your wall cabinets. When it comes time to clean, just carefully lift them off and into a bin bag, leaving only the trim to properly clean and the rest to wipe with a damp cloth. It cuts down cleaning up there to almost no time at all and it's much less daunting. xx
My mom and I cleaned this way. My husband despised the space above our cabinets so when we remodeled our kitchen we bought used cabs from habitat that go to the ceiling, but you could also close that space in with wood or something like that. It is so nice not to have to clean that greasy dusty mess up above any longer. Thanks for the video. Happy cleaning!
I love watching your videos . Have tried quite a number of your ideas and recipes. Love your Christian values. May god richly bless you and your family. One thing I do when "deep cleaning" in the kitchen after washing cupboard tops is, I spread paper towel over the surface of the top. It catches all the dust and greasy film . Then discard the paper towel and replace it after the next deep cleaning.
It’s hilarious. I just started doing this to my kitchen last week. Now I’m trying to get past my 2nd bout of the flu so I can finish the other wall of shelves in my kitchen. I need to clean my stove inside and out to which I am not looking forward to. It is harder to do at 68 than it was when I was younger. Keep the videos coming. I love that you have a regular people home that is lived in like mine not something out of a movie set!!!
Just found you. I just love your honesty. You aren't for "show". You want to share recipes, hints and advice. You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you
So nice to see an actual real home like mine with chipped paint and mess! Also nice to see not everyone has the fancy cabinets and drawers. Keep up the good work mama!
Yes! I was going to come and add a very similar comment.
I admire a woman thats not afraid to show her dirt when she cleaning 😊 just another honest gesture when teaching
Thank you so much 😊
What a treasure of honesty you are. Be blessed.
Dear woman this is just reality
In people's homes you are not alone love your style
Great idea!!
I just bought a $2 roll of wallpaper to line the tops of mine. And drawers, etc.
I just use newspaper. Works great
I came here to say this!
I guess the dad don’t help with some of the heavy moving stuff.
Feels so good when it’s all done
Pros:
1. Protects wood/cabinet material from water damage
2. Protects wood/cabinet material from gauging
3. Some cushion for china/glass ware
4. EASY CLEAN UP!
Cons
1. Finding the scraps
2. Cutting the scraps (I use a razor knife like a box-cutter) to size
3. You will loose ~1/4" of cabinet height on each shelf.
Blessings!
I also use Vinyl on top and in my cabinets easy to clean👍🏼
We ALL have dirt! Lots of dirt~we're just not brave enough to put it out there.😂
I have never seen as honest a video as this one. We all have the dust, grime, and grease if we are honest. Thank you for a real look!
Well look at you!!!! Makes me so happy to hear this.
I'm also starting to can at 65, inspired by Ruth Ann! Love her calming nature!
First, wonderful inspiring reminder. Thank you.
Two tips that work for me;
Great suggestions! Thankyou for sharing them!
Great tips ❤
M&M's get lousy after a certain length of time...ESPECIALLY when kept in a kitchen not a pantry, lol...they do the melt and harden thing inside multiple times with no clear signs on the outside
Beautiful tips thank you!!!! Love the tile idea!!!
I was also going to say to clean the fans on the refrigerator while you have it pulled out. It does help them last longer.
Good luck with your storage and I feel that embarrassment!! I was never taught to cook!!! 😂😂😂 but we're learning you and I 😘
Thank you for making this video. I really needed the motivation today to finish the deep cleaning for fall before our kids come for the second hunting season.
Our home is log and I love the beauty of the natural rounded logs.
Keeping them free of spider webs, ash and dust from the logs
I agree with the Thieves
Even used it with a scrub brush on the logs .
*Thank you for the inspiration!*
~~QM ❤️🇺🇸
It gets so messy in those spaces!!!!!
Thank you for being real and showing that real homes get dirty! Also thank you for teaching us how to be better stewards of our home, I was never taught how to properly clean and I am learning ways I can improve!
You are so welcome!
My mother was too busy to show me.
My grandma's would not let me either.
But thank the Lord
Great tips! Thankyou for sharing them!
You might also like Giselle Waldner channel, she is in Manitoba Canada. She is from a Hutterite community.
I remember when Jennifer on A Country Life said the tops of her cabinet doors had eyebrows and it was time to clean them. I liked that description.
Lol
It’s nice to see that your house gets dirty just like mine. I always feel like my house gets dirtier than ever everyone else’s no matter how hard I try to be neat. Your video makes me feel better. I loved this video. I don’t usually watch cleaning videos either, but I enjoy your videos because you are very real. You could be my neighbor. Actually I would enjoy having you as a neighbor
New subscriber, watching older videos…
Great inspiration for deep cleaning.
Great tip!
I put thin plywood on mine so its a smoother surface
Thank you for sharing, I do appreciate real life videos. Now I need to tackle my kitchen. The dust bunnies are big as cats!
I remember those days I used to be a freak and keeping things so clean my family members used to make fun of me because I was so particular but let me tell you since I’ve got older and disabled those days are gone, I only remember it in my head and wish it would get done by itself
First of all, don’t judge yourself to the American women.
You would love the sliding drawers behind doors
@@Ruthannzimm I have a handyman coming this week to help me. I’m going to have him look at that!
You have done a great job so far. Tell the children to put all where it goes so that the next time so much of their time will be less also. God bless you.
I use an attachment on my battery powered drill to clean walls, even floors...works really good with baking soda.
Miss Ruthann, I put magic erasers in my cleaning kit, because i have white cabinets like you, and they have saved me so much scrubbing time!
Good job. Real and relaxing to watch. I love your soft and tender demeanor. You’re a real motivator.
Thank you for sharing Ruth and have a great day🌻
I Spring/Fall clean my kitchen in stages as a senior one side one day, second side another etc. Until it's all done.
“Some are more willing than others” 😂😂 Great job 👏
That was kind of funny.....the one little guy didn't look real thrilled about it.
Love you shows!!❤️💕❤️
Watching You RuthAnn makes me do everything better when I cook and clean ❤
Thank goodness for Thieves cleaner! Safe for you and the kids helping! I have never learned to wash walls, but I'm definitely going to start. I'm 57!
My mother use to say “I am dirty enough to be comfortable & clean enough to be sanitary “
This was FABULOUS! I remember doing this with My Mom and Aunt! These are very FOND memories for me, and a reminder that I need to get back at it myself! Thanks!
My Amish Friends in Lancaster, help each other with this deep cleaning, just like you said, this is such a big help.
You just made me feel better about my dirty spaces! Thank you for showing a real house cleaning !
I love everything you do. You are a gift to us all ❤️
I love your true, honest accessment of your dirt and clutter. We all have these dirty little secrets
You're inspiring me to make January my deep clean month. And I know I'm wayyy dirtier! I missed a spring cleaning and it's October!! 😂
Hello from Athens, Greece. I just found your channel and am enjoying your content. I also deep clean my house twice a year but the kitchen more often. In order to make my cleaning easier on top of the cabinets and the grease does not become sticky I usually put newspapers on top of them.
Great idea of the newspaper but also lining with regular kitchen Liners that is washable a big plus
Great idea ty
Hi ,I put clear wrap ,cling film on top of my cubourd, remove it every 3 month an replace
Great job. I need to do this too. Hearts and flowers coming your way. ❤️💐
Job well done Ruth Ann! Your kitchen sparkles and looks beautiful!
This video and others have definitely helped me get better at being a good homemaker. They show that you're not alone in these struggles and a lot of people don't like to clean, but do it because it needs to be done. As odd as that is, it makes me what to take keeping a clean home more seriously to keep the house up for my family too. 🥰
Yes. We can do even the things that we aren’t passionate about.
Awesome, very similar to how dirty my kitchen gets & deep cleaning is a must.
You are a breath of fresh air!! Just love all your videos. Thank you!
I have the same issues in my kitchen. Your kitchen looked pretty normal. You & the children did a great job. I'm inspired to do some of the same.
God bless and thank you for sharing you truly have inspired me!🥰🇨🇦❤️🙏🏻
I don't think I ever learned how to deep clean. Your video is an inspiration! Thank you!
You clean the same way I do, it’s so rewarding when done…love your videos
Deep cleaning is hard work but so satisfying! Great job!
Thanks so much for the motivation Ruth Ann, love your channel!❤
You are so welcome!
Oh yes!! Those types of cabinets live on my Pinterest board titled ‘kitchen remodel’ 😅😅
I love watching your videos . Have tried quite a number of your ideas and recipes. Love your Christian
values.
