There is a tab on the underside of the plastic ear that he points to after 1:05. It helps to loosen the gray bolt at 3:30 also. It allows you to pull the fender away from the housing a bit and helps to prevent breaking the "locator" at about 3:55. I suggest putting the housing in and snug the gray bolt on the side down first. Make sure the tab or I guess you can call it a "locator" on the underside of the ear at about 1:05 is in place as well. Also, at 4:30 you can see the fender well has 2 gray clips, these are for T20 torx screws. There is a (left to right in that frame) gray clips, raised area, black round area and gray clips. The black round area is another "locator" tab that lines up the screws that connect the fender to the bottom of the bumper. The tab he used a screwdriver on hung on both sides. You can let your body hold the bumper in place to while carefully pushing the tab down to release the bumper like he did.
Thank you man. This helped me many times!!! The worst part is that under the bumper bolt. Now I know how to stop breaking my headlamps! I've owned 3 of these.
This ridiculous changing a simple head light. I just went through this. I thank God for automotive guy at O’Riley, he was kind patient and knew exactly what to do🙏🏽
I can tell that most people need a reading class here. Title says HEADLIGHT REMOVAL not bulb removal. Yes access panels are located by the tire. This has nothing to do with bulbs. Thanks for the video.
You have to take of the headlight cover to even get access to the bulb, which is freaking ridiculous that a car owner has to go through this much trouble to change a BULB. So thanks to the stupid ass engineers, who have once again over complicating things.
Vyrna not true there’s an access door up in the wheel well I’ve changed my headlights twice you’re working blind but man it’s easier than taking the whole bumper off
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I just replaced both headlights on my daughters equinox that were really faded. You gave me the confidence to do it myself. Thank you. Merry Christmas!!
Thanks Man! This really helped me. I'm replacing pretty much the entire front end on my 2012 Equinox. The front bumper, grilles, the driver-side front fender, both headlights. This is one the very few videos that discusses this for something similar to my model year. Even though your focus is the headlamps, you still had to do everything I need to do for my replacements.
You don’t have to do this! I just spend two hours doing it this way just to find out there is a better way! If you look under your front wheel well there is a cover toy can take of with a tork wrench and replace it that way. So much more helpful.
@@davidshereda7885 I think he means the little circular cover under the wheel well, but that works if you're just trying to replace the bulbs:won't work for the whole headlight assembly
Thanks for posting. I was trying to find out if there is any adjustment of the headlight beam. When I am backing out of my driveway at night it seems like most of the light is hitting the garage door parallel to the ground. I occasionally get flashed by other drivers. Mine is a 2013.
very informative vid, i have the same yr and was wondering if you know where or how to aim these equinox headlights? one is higher than the other and it bugs me lol
Ridiculous the amount of shit you have to go through these days just to change a bulb or the whole fixture. Manufacturers try to make it so you have to take your car into a shop (sure they prefer one of they’re own dealerships) to pay a fortune to have it done
Do I need to take the whole headlight out to replace the low beam bulb? I keep seeing videos where they just use an access panel and mine doesn't have it.
One video it's a woman going through the inner fender around the front tires. the screws and get to lights by going through the back. That would work ok if you have tiny hands
Nope there a round cover on the plastic cover under the fender ,between the tire and the fender just loose that screw and twist the cap and you can access to the bulb by sticking your hand on that hole after removing that round cap
This is my first car and someone’s charging me $140 to change them. I’m not sure if I’m capable of doing it by myself or I should pay the $140 to someone who knows how to do it properly
Loos like everything you do on the front end of this vehicle requires the removal of the front fascia. Now I can see why the front end on my Ma’s nox that she purchased from her mechanic is all Mickey F’ed up in the front. 😜
Whoever the engineer that designed this ridiculousness should get punched in the throat or the manufacturer itself trying to help make dealership money
You must work for a car dealership that charges over $100 to replace a bulb... what about the access cover in the wheel well? 5 minuted job and one screw...
This is not a bulb changing video. To replace an entire headlamp assembly, or both of them, which is what he was doing, this is the procedure you have to follow to get ‘er done.
Gonna have to pay $100 to get a darn light changed . I thought just pop a bulb in.I’m over 70 ain’t got time for this., my daughter car. Well so sorry baby , daddy can’t help you on this one.
He's not changing the bulb. He's replacing the entire headlight housing. Completely different scope. Replacing the bulb can be done by thru access doors in the front wheel wells.

Something so simple made hard,I just don’t get it!
Thanks to your video i removed the old headlights and installed new black housing headlights in just under an hour.
I'm about to do the same did you remove the whole bumper to?

Thanks for making this. I needed a video on Equinox headlamp removal and replacement (not just the bulbs) and this was perfect.
Very helpful video. Just used it to replace two headlights on my sons 2010 Chevy equinox
You did a good job walking through it step by step

Overly complicated vehicle. Remove front end to remove headlight assembly.
It's not complicated at all to get the front end off.
Yes have to pay someone to do this

Not only this one ( 98 honda crv it's the same thing) back in the days I have replaced a Honda crv headlight that was mine

Not really not if you know what all your actually doing my truck is different it's two pins pulled out you can pull headlight off done lmao
That's why I like older trucks
Hate this if i knew this i wouldn't brought this suv

Does the wiring harness for the bulbs come included in the headlight assembly?
Do I need to take the whole headlight out to replace the low beam bulb? I keep seeing videos where they just use an access panel and mine doesn't have it.
This video is to show you how to replace a cracked, or broken headlight housing. THIS IS NOT A VIDEO ON HOW TO CHANGE THE BULB ONLY!
So if you do all this and just don't put that 4th bolt back in can the headlights come out similar to what you would do with a cobalt or g5?
Thanks great video
Great video! Thank you!
Good info brother keep it up
Can show how the headlight out with take bumper off .thank you

And if you were only changing the BULB instead of the HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY!
If you go through the Inner fender well you can Change it in 5 Minutes Without taking the Bumper Off.
Only if you’re replacing BULB. This video is about replacing the whole assembly.
Thank you !!!!
Thanks so much
Good video
You don’t need to remove bumper cover.
What a pain. This is crazy . Why manufacturer this?
Bastards. Never getting a GM again.
This is so ridiculous that they would make it so difficult to change a simple headlight! $160 later.....im very disappointed by this!
Thanks man
ALL you have to do is turn the wheel to the right and then twist off the cap that you showed in the beginning of the video.
I have a 2014 equinox do I change the bulb the same wAY let me know please
Nope there a round cover on the plastic cover under the fender ,between the tire and the fender just loose that screw and twist the cap and you can access to the bulb by sticking your hand on that hole after removing that round cap

Are you fuckinv kidding me ?!!
Wtf this is bullshit! All that for a damn headlight... Chevy what the hell are you thinking
Just go in wheel well lol
That's fucked up!
Holy shit... this is way too much to change a fucking headlight
There is an access in the wheel well. Don't do this
All u half to do is pull the excess cover on the inner fender maybe take the wheel off if ur bigger
you do not need to remove the headlight on a 2010 to 2013 equinox. their is an access opening in the wheel well to access the bulbs.
He was replacing the whole headlight, not just the bulb.
He's not just changing the light bulb, he's changing the entire housing. Did you see his busted one?
Why Chevy so complicated?
Even light bulbs... have to crawl under a wheel/fender 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
This is ridiculous to have to move all that just to change a bulb..

Chevy's are disgusting.
chevy should be ashamed. what a joke to change a bulb
Robby Miller, , he was replacing the entire headlight that was cracked. Did you even watch the video?
You have to do the same to change the bulb Eric. No access behind the headlight. Trust me I would not do all of this if it was not required.
Robby Miller, uhhh, there is door inside the inner wheel well. 1 screw, turn 1/4 turn, back of bulbs are right there. Look it up
Chevy isn’t the only ones that do this. BMW is a joke too.
My mechanic didn’t do all that to change the burnt lightbulb.
Because he wasnt changing a bulb. He was replacing the whole headlight that was cracked. Did you watch the video?
