Single woman here who needs to be on the road in less than 12 hours. (Don't you just love it when these things happen right before you need to drive 5+ hours?) Easy enough to replace in the driveway with a few hand tools. My Mighty Quin has 20/20 vision again!
My 2014 Equinox did not have the access port , but I partially removed the plastic under cover and gave me access to it, before I viewed ur video I spent over an hour trying to access it through the top. Thx
My headlight has been out for months, and only took me 5 minutes to fix after watching this video. Only thing was the 9005 bulb was not the one I needed. Back to the store I go, but super grateful 🙏
Other than needing to remove the entire mud guard from the wheel well to gain access (the 2016 LS doesn't have that nifty access port), I can confirm this tutorial is spot on. My Mighty Quin has 20/20 vision again! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Easy and simple fix! I was going to take my equinox to the dealer for a light bulb and would’ve been charged a lot of for so simple! Thanks Great Job👍👍
Here in 2024!: Glad I watched your video. I was really considering going to a garage for this because I was very weary on doing anything myself to my Equinox that’s still under warranty for maybe another 6 to 9 months. Huge confidence boost! Thanks!!
I won't even tell you how i stressed out the auto zone worker and myself. we took off a bunch of everything and of course that didn't work. glad i found your video. saved myself a few hundred bucks 👍🏽
That autozone worker was just after getting into it with you cause autozone workers are NOT supposed to replace any parts on any vehicle Besides windshield wipers because the customer can then claim the autozone worker has damaged their vehicles
Thanks, I don't know why so many take off the whole front bumper.. the first video I saw was a similar Access point but no tools needed.. I went to take mine off and it's the same as the one in the video and I tried turning it. I wondered why it didn't turn. So I'm glad I only tried turning it a couple times and decided to wait a little then found your video before trying again. One thing I wanted to note that I haven't heard anyone say on these how to videos is DO NOT touch your new HID light With bare hands as the oil from your hands can ruin your new bulb. Thanks for the video!
Your very welcome I should have included that a lot of people are asking how to change the brights so I will probably have to do another and I will try to remember to include that
I went to auto zone to get a new right low beam. I asked the guy could he replace it for me. He said no, I need to go to a mechanic because the front would need to been took off. I showed my friend this video, he fixed it in less than 10 mins. Thank you
Dude this was super helpful.i have been dreading putting in my new headlight because I thought it was going to be a massive pain but this made it look much simpler!
Thanks for the video, I went to the garage and had it changed out in about 20 mins, which wasn't too bad since I quit messing w do it yourself car repairs about a decade ago.
Hey I literally have never commented let alone subscribed to any video ever. I’m talking about free movies in HD, immersive videos on oculus you name it. This video was so deserving I had to. I’m a really good garage mechanic, no job too big out to small. My go to TH-cam mechanics all had me about to take the bumper off, even the Chevy dealer said this. Thanks a million, you rock!
Thanks for explaining it so well! I thought you’re not supposed to touch the bulbs though. The oils in our hands will create a hot spot and cause them to burn out quicker.
Thank you I just purchased my Chevy equinox and the light went out. And my girlfriend has a traverse and this was so much easier then when I installed hers. Thanks again I couldn't figure it out. So I went to ol reliable you tube.
Your video was more spot on than the last one I saw were the guy took the whole front of the vehicle off. I don't know what this bipolar weather is going to do but I have to change my lights before the other one goes out due to I have no idea when or if they were ever changed before. Thx for the video you and it are greatly appreciated, God Bless.
Glad I could help thank you for the sub anything you can recommend on my video that you might think could be done better and what would you like to see come to the channel
Hey, I needed one piece of info, and you gave it to me in the first minute. Thank you. So I decided to watch the whole thing through. Don't know if you did a video with the transmission fluid yet, but that was one I was looking for a month back.
Thank you because one of the headlights went out on my wife's truck and I was telling her that I'll change it instead of taking it to the dealership I'm going to do it myself you just showed me something so thank you
Excellent job my friend! I actually knew how to do this from before a different video, but I had to remind myself what size driver I needed to open the access point
Was very informative. Appreciate the parts where you put the camera inside to see the view points of necessary steps. A little go pro universal magnetic attachment to your phone works great if you find some metal on the vehicle. But great video. Keep it up. I'll share
My 2016 Equinox LT doesn’t have these removable covers on the fender liner. I have to remove the screws and plastic retaining bits that fasten the liner to the fender. Only by doing that and removing the plastic cap can I replace the bulbs. I think I’m going to replace my stock halogens for LEDs so I won’t have to replace them because replacing any bulb in the headlight assembly is such a chore as I found out by replacing just the marker lights with LEDs this afternoon.
works amazing when the access panel is present, unfortunately many year models dont have them(which just seems dumb as hell) hence the reason so many have to take off the fender \ bumper.
I do get this a lot I don’t know what determines what ones got it and what ones didn’t I do get way more people that tell me they have the access door then don’t but I have had enough people say they don’t that I am going to try to find out why some don’t and I’ll try to put something up to help those who don’t have it but I will have to get my hands on another car to do it Your best bet do you don’t have to remove the bumper is probably to remove the fender liner
@@mrt-rogers6184 Did we find out what the people without an access panel can do without removing the whole bumper or panel?? BTW, I believe I was told Gen-2 trims only come with an access panel?? Not sure how gen 1 and 2 differentiates within the same year make and model?
I'm a Na-Na of 4 a mother of 3 and my Father taught me how to work on cars so learning how to work my kids cars is what I learn now while on retirement, but u do need a camera stand.
So how do you gain access to the HIGH beam bulbs? Can you access them through that same access hole? I have a 2011 Equinox and it has that access cover as well. I think in 2015 and up GM did away with the access cover. I used H11 bulbs for the low beam. Was the 9005 for the High beams?
I think you did a really good job with your video I do appreciate all the time you save me by showing me the access thank you you're the best I'm glad you guys are out
I was dreading taking off the fender cover but thankfully found this. 👍 It's basically a 10 minute job, maybe double if you want to take pics of how things align since you're basically working blind. Nothing was difficult to remove or replace though so it's probably not necessary. Some things to note: I struggled for like 15 minutes because I didn't notice that the old bulb's oring had dislodged and was stuck in the bulb well. Also, turning your steering towards the side you are working on will help give you more space to work with.
I have a 14 equinox the same body style and I don’t have that access point. I’m assuming I can just remove the finder cause I really don’t wanna fool with the bumper
Hi! Thanks for the video, very helpful. By any chance can you provide the part number for the dust covers, I lost mine and looks ugly without them. Thanks
Heyyo, so my wife's 2014 Chevrolet Equinox unfortunately didn't have that quick access... So maybe it's only certain trim models or maybe late 2014 models? I had to do the bumper rip apart thing... But after I did that? It seems it would be easier to just completely pull out the wheel well cover as it would have been easier and a lot less of those horrible plastic plugs to remove...
Wow and I was doing it wrong I was trying to take out the whole thing from the top.. my lady has one of those and 1 of her lights went out and I never new how to replace the light bulb this video will help me when I see her and do it to her equinox
This was pretty straightforward. I’m a single woman on a fixed income and can’t afford mechanics right now. Thank you
Similar circumstances! Ditto!
Easy stuff, yall got it. TH-cam is a life hack in itself.

Easy enough to replace in the driveway with a few hand tools. My Mighty Quin has 20/20 vision again!
Us also, 600 miles from home and no tools with me, luckily days are still long, and 2 days remaining.
Do you have a single friend 😏
My 2014 Equinox did not have the access port , but I partially removed the plastic under cover and gave me access to it, before I viewed ur video I spent over an hour trying to access it through the top. Thx

Great instructions, thanks so much! I was able to do this myself instead of paying the dealership to do it.
This was straight to the point, no wasted time and it was easy to follow. Thank you just saved me some money.
Easy and simple fix! I was going to take my equinox to the dealer for a light bulb and would’ve been charged a lot of for so simple! Thanks Great Job👍👍
Good video. TIP: turn wheel out for easier access. Also, my 2014 equinox uses H11 bulb
Yep. Mr Know-it-all should have known.
H11 is for low beam, 9005 is for high beam
@ZacsAutosports yess you answered my question, but how do you know if your grabing high beam or low beam light bulb
@@saneloruc3010when you pull the bulb out if it say h11 then it's the low beam lol
Thanks for the video! Took less than 5 minutes to replace thanks to you. Clear & concise instructions 👍🏻 2014 equinox

Dude this was super helpful.i have been dreading putting in my new headlight because I thought it was going to be a massive pain but this made it look much simpler!
The 2014 Equinox takes H11 Bulbs not the 9005. But the video was accurate!! Thank you!
Takes both
9005 bulbs are the high beams
Thanks for the video, I went to the garage and had it changed out in about 20 mins, which wasn't too bad since I quit messing w do it yourself car repairs about a decade ago.

yes you are correct you should not touch the bulb itself as much as possible but if it happens it won’t be the end of the world :)
Well since it was the old bulb that he was replacing, did it matter? Wasn’t it already blown out? Curious🤔
He should have worn gloves

I really like the way you did your video. Instructed very well. Shown step by step what to expect. Great job!!!
Thanks. Very simple how to and very well demonstrated. Saved me a lot problems.
Glad it helped
great job with this video! very straightforward and helpful. would recommend using a tripod for the phone in a couple of places.
Great video, you saved me a lot of headaches changing those bulbs. Thank you

well you made that look more simpler than the other video I watched they got you care and half the car apart to put in a bulb you did a fine job

Thank you for sharing . I almost took my whole bumper off!!!
This was very helpful. The other videos had me taking the bumper off...for a lightbulb!
Thank you for this one. I was mad at Chevy for not letting me change my own bulbs in our 2014 Chevy Equinox.
Thank you for your hard work brother and teaching us valuable information!
Great video step by step and made changing my light bulb very easy!
Saved me a headache thank you so much!!!
Thanks for the video! I would suggest turning the wheel for easier access or even taking it off, lol.

Thanks for your help. Stood there scratching my head. After watching video no problem.
I was about to try and take my bumper apart to change one bulb. Lol! Great video. 👍
You did a great job showing this. It would’ve cost me $70 to have it done at Pep Boys for a $15 bulb.
I think you did a really good job with your video I do appreciate all the time you save me by showing me the access thank you you're the best I'm glad you guys are out
Is there a separate bulb for High beam? or 1 bulb with 2 filaments?
Are you changing the low beams?..no body has a video on the high beam light replacement how it that one done?
Worked like a charm! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

thank you for the comment pictures are always helpful especially for the DIY er multiple times I wish I made that a step
Low beams are pretty simple yes. Do you access the high beams the same way?
I believe so
You saved me my guy much appreciation for making and posting this video if I could shake your hand I would 💪

Is the low and high beam in the same bulb?
Good job - I have to replace one today and your video really helped
I saw you replace a 9005 bulb. Is that for the high or low beam which I thought was an H11?
The was regular running and headlights not the high beams
Good job on the demonstration easy to understand thanks so much.
Can I use a screwdriver if I don’t have the T20
they do make t20 screw drivers but a regular Phillips I am sure won’t work if that was the question
