    I think what could be difficult at interacting with Spanish speakers is that it is so diversified that most accents are drastically different from one another. Even if you're a native speaker you'll have to learn a bunch of words to start to understand what other person's saying in their Spanish, unless you're all speaking standard Spanish

      For example in Mexico If I want to say “you are my friends” is “ustedes son mis amigos” but in Spain is “vosotros sois mis amigos”, in Mexico we don’t have the word “vosotros” neither “sois”.

    Also as an aside, in terms of reaching Conversational Fluency. I define CF as being able to have conversations about most topics with relative ease. For me it doesn't mean speaking without mistakes/errors or speaking as fast as a native. So I definitely still make mistakes and can't speak that rapidly however I'm glad that I'm at the point now where I can hop into a conversation about design, medicine, personal habits, youtube and give my opinion and understand nearly 100% of what the person I'm talking to is saying.
    I think above Conversational Fluency, is Advanced Fluency. Which includes speaking rapidly, having specialized vocab knowledge and committing nearly no errors. Definitely not there yet, but hope to reach it over the next few years passively. :)

    • @isabella-1796
      @isabella-1796 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@vluessky in the beginning I mainly relied on learning basic words by writing them down in a journal repeatedly on one side, and on the other side I would write the Korean word with the English translation. That way it gets into my brain as I write it down, and then I can fold my journal in order to memorize the word and it's meaning without looking at the translation. That was my main way of learning, and about 3 years in I started to use Anki in order to review words I've already learned. 😁 I also study with TH-cam and Webtoons now since I can watch/read them without pausing every second because I don't know a single word. GoBilly Korean is very good Korean teacher on TH-cam. I don't watch him for beginner content, but his execution of explaining things to all learners is great. 👍 Also, after about 3 or so years of learning I started using italki to get speaking practice since I gained enough vocabulary. However, with all that being said don't overwhelm yourself with this stuff! Language learning should be fun, so take your time. It took me 3 and a half years to be able to watch and enjoy TH-cam videos in Korean along with enjoying Korean Web Webtoons. Enjoy the process~!! ☺

I’m also chronically ill (one of my conditions also happens to be pots) & I’m bedridden + use a wheelchair on the few chances I manage to get out of bed. This meant I had to quit school aged 13 & instead homeschool myself from bed. 5/6 years down the line and I still can’t do much at all, but one of the things I’ve found I can do is languages. I know English (native), BSL, Spanish, Italian & Norwegian. It’s giving me a purpose and a reason to keep pushing through. And right now I’m working on reaching a point where I’m well enough to become a virtual language tutor 😊
    Other youtubers I’ve found tend to be really social and travel a lot etc, so it’s nice to see someone else who has health issues. I really hope yours improves soon & you achieve your goal of walking again. Good luck with everything! 💛

    I love the video❤️❤️❤️❤️ I think your progress is amazing and realistic at the same time. I use to get so stressed and demotivated as a beginner when I would see videos of people speaking rapid fire Spanish and claiming to have learned it in a month. I thought I was stupid or doing something wrong 🤦🏾‍♀️

    I feel you on the too shy to jump in in vrchat, I always hop into Japanese severs then think after a bit of shying around that maybe I get better before I do this, also the fact that you are assumed to be a weeb if you learn Japanese is a real downer as I’ve never watched anime

    • @ms0_u
      @ms0_u 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I know right?? People call me a weeb all the time just because i'm learning japanese, it sucks 😔

    • @Jujuoak
      @Jujuoak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That’s the only thing that annoys me about having an interest in Japanese as a language and the Japanese culture, is that people always assume I’m learning because of anime.
      I’ve watched anime before and I really like it but it’s not even close to the main reason I’m learning everything lol.

    • @Jujuoak
      @Jujuoak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Jakoby ! I’ve always been confident about it, but thanks for that regardless haha.
      Learning Japanese kinda feels like a spectrum sometimes, in the sense that on one end you have the ultra obsessed weebs and on the other end you’ve got people who are learning Japanese for learnings sake. But many people automatically assume that pretty much anyone who’s learning Japanese is a super obsessed weeb. I just don’t really wanna be put into the same category as them is all, only because that’s just simply not how I am.
      But like you said “don’t let other judgement get in the way” and I’ve been following that for awhile.
      Have fun learning Korean bro, hope it goes well for you!

    • @Jujuoak
      @Jujuoak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Jakoby ! I 100% agree, I’ve got respect for anyone who’s put the time and effort into learning any other language. I’ve personally put time into Spanish, French, Japanese and Korean so I respect the effort from anyone else.
      I’ve also used anime as a way to get input as well and I’ll always advocate for that as a decently reliable source for learning Japanese.

    Ikenna, Hola! saludos y un abrazo fuerte desde Colombia hermano. Eres de admirar, como una persona con mucha responsabilidad y un objetivo fijo puede lograr aprender múltiples idioma, vi en tus conversaciones en español con los profesores que hablabas y decías palabras/frases como "encuentre personas" y claramente, como hispano hablante va a entender lo que quieres decir pero no te corrige al decirte, "encontré personas" pienso que esta mal hecho porque el estudiante asimila que esta bien decirlo así y no debería ser pero aun asi logras hablar prácticamente a la perfección!, Eres grande!.

    Its great to see how much you learned about spanish and in a really short time, but there is a little thing you need to know: countries have their own ways and words to speak spanish. If you keep chatting with people from a lot of spanish speaking countries, ask them about some words of their country or about the way they speak. Ask them about if they speak spanish faster, slower, gesticulating with their hands (im argentinian, I know about what im talking) and you can also listen to music in spanish. You got some covers of famous england and american songs and also a lot of great spanish speaking bands (I love "Soda Stereo" from Argentina). Good luck with your journey ♥

    The iTalki class method is exactly how all of my best classes go! That's why I usually stick with higher energy teachers who just keep asking me things this way I think my 30 minutes is worth it, I only take 30 min classes because my brain doesn't work well after 30 minutes. In a sense these iTalki classes are like my exams, whatever I learned on my own during the week or the days before the class I hope to use them during the class. I don't really expect a lot from the tutors in terms of spoon feeding stuff to me because I feel like it's a waste of money because I could easily look those up on my own except when I'm lost in my research and really need to ask a native speaker then I ask those questions during the class! Thank you for the insight

I think I do fairly well understanding it, and speaking it at a basic conversational level, but I always struggle with the past and future tenses. I used to work at an auto parts store in a primarily hispanic neighborhood as one of 2 people in the store that spoke spanish, where I got known as "el gringo hispano" because I would actively learn the names of car parts so that I could better help them, like la junta de araña being slang for the intake manifold gasket.
