I was so sad to see the welcome you received entering our lovely province of Newfoundland. I would hope that more people would not have to go thru what you encountered. I hope by lending a small hand and running a couple errands for you to Best Buy brightened your stay here in Newfoundland. It would have been nice to take you ashore and show you some of the beauty this province has to offer. If you ever get a chance please stop by again and hopefully you can experience a different welcome.

Awe thank you so much for your help! You were not only key, but just having your kind lending hand really lifted our spirits! We too would love to visit and explore. From the sea, we can say it's quite something! Again, really appreciate your help, forever grateful ✌️🥰🐼

I just Want to say that my husband and I love watching your sailing channel. We are looking to buy a boat, have had two offers that fell through, and after watch so many sailing channels, yours is by far the most refreshing. I’m from Massachusetts and I love New England. I Spent vacations in Maine as a kid near Bath Maine , so watching You guys sail north is amazing. Can’t wait to see where your adventures lead You and hopefully someday very soon in the next six months we will head that way as well.

Suggestion for you, to do this you must inform them of this first.
First ask them if the call is been recorded for training and quality purposes.
You can record all calls as long as you inform the other party in the call that the call is been recorded for quality and training purposes, and they must state why they are not willing to be recorded.
Make a paper trail about everything, not all government members of staff treat sailors like that but there are that do.
You handled the situation very well, don't let people like that spoil your trip or journey 😁
Great video keep it up 👋😎🖐

Covid screening of arrivals must be tough as one errant contamination can spread the thing. The Maritime provinces have been successful in keeping infections down while creating their own bubble within the four provinces. Your video may help in deterring arrivals. Before Covid the couple on the Sailing Uma channel, before their Atlantic crossing, sailed into the wonderful Fjord of Francois to a small community that just happened at that time to be hosting a reunion they have every five years. Priceless video. If you're interested in looking at their greeting in Newfoundland, look up Sailing UMA 188, 189, and 190. Sorry you had your frustrations with Canadian officialdom, but that's what we pay them for, to make female sailors cry. When Covid is over sail on back. Meanwhile, listen to some Stan Rogers on your beautiful boat- that would be a great combination, listening to Stan Rogers aboard an Amel- and think of coming back when even Canadian border patrol will smile in greeting. :) I just subscribed to your channel because I love your boat.

Thanks so much for the kind words. We have no doubt arriving in Canada during normal times would be spectacular! We too loved seeing @sailinguma time in Newfoundland. And I must stress in the end, once we were allowed in the harbor, EVERYONE was super friendly, going out of their way to help us quarantined on our vessel. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it! ✌️🥰🐼

Covid ... I have seen so many sailing vids where access was denied .... whether you need fuel and food and supplies .... they don't care .... it is horrible .... I wonder if Columbus had that problem ...

Good luck, and take care!

Rules were and are changing every day, unfortunately it's the reality of this time but indeed doesn't mean you should be treated as a liar :( anyway, congrats for the passage record, really good for a small boat designed for travel and not for racing!

Another great episode you guys 👍🏻👍🏻. Sorry to see Amanda upset and frustrated with the Canadian border folks. After living here for 23 yrs (and being a dual Canadian/British citizen), it can still be hit and miss coming and going. I think it just depends who you get on the day, and what kind of day they are having themselves. Glad it all worked out and you experienced the kindness of the friendly locals!

What a nice time you guys had out at sea with the whales until the Bureaucrats came - “Many thinkers worry over the progressive bureaucratization of the world and the social threat of its terror. Yet they forget that these very bureaucrats are themselves terrorized, and that they are terrorized by their desks. Once plunked down behind one, a man will never learn to tear himself free.”

@@OuterPassage Covid has ushered in a new era of authoritarian lunacy with all the regulations that don’t account for the complexities of the human experience on this planet. I live in South Africa and echo a similar experience. Sailing Zatara had a similar experience upon entering OZ. The world needs to find its humanity again and logic needs to prevail. May your sailing days be filled with fair winds and following seas, and many more whale sightings.😉

@@SoulTonicLife Conditions have been fluid during COVID, and Newfoundland and the Maritime Provinces have been particularly vigilant to keep the disease out. I think it wouldn't have hurt to work some of that into your expectations. Newfoundlanders are noted for their hospitality. Customs officers, not so much. It isn't their job. As for nonsensical mutterings about "the Bureaucrats", I think, Soul Tonic Life, you are just a bit out of line.

Ahoy, thanks for watching! Yes, these times are quite frustrating. Our homework indicated Canada was allowing stops for fuel and supplies, so we too were stumped when they wouldn't first let us in the harbor. But in the end, all was good! ✌️🥰🐼

@@OuterPassage You have to be careful of what you say. If you say anything other than we are transiting to (fill in destination here ) from (fill in country of origin here) and need to refuel and provision, you will be denied. But in reality be prepared to be denied entry at any port for any reason.

Just dropped into your video, it says 6 days ago. Judging by the weather, it's not Feburary by any means.
I think those big Dolphins you are seeing, are probably pilot whales.they resemble big Dolphins. As they are small whales.
On CBS, there are rules, and they change especially in these times. Not to get to political, but, what your your leader trump and his republican party has caused. He ridiculed Canadians in many of his rallies. Saying Canadains are moochers who live of the backs of Americans. In our new trade deal USMCA, told Canada that we are security risk to the America, and put unreasonable tariffs on our products.
Then in the pandemic said he will not allow 3M to send N95 masks to Canada, , as 3M sells billions in other products in Canada etc etc etc. Now America uts #1 in the world with deaths, infections. Because the republicans/ the extreme right have played coved as a hoax. Last but not least. Trump with his republican cronies told our leader that there is a place in hell for him.
So if a Canadian border services officer may not have to much sympathy, or flowers to extend to an American.
Just something that has put a huge wedge between two nations. And Trump was voted in by 78 million Americans. Not saying anything, just saying.
