Thanks for watching! I really enjoyed my little campfire and spending some time by my riverside shelter. By the way, there is no mold on the bread. So that is probably what some people have spotted on the piece of bread. But thanks for caring. And don't worry, I don't have the habit of eating moldy bread.

I thought that the Norwegians were a bit more sensible than that. It's remarkable how crazy so many people have become simply because of the American election. Your advice with regards to hobbies and being outdoors is on the mark.
I live in Norway, I work in a grocery store so I see the newspapers every day. It's insane how much reporting there is on the US election. You can easily forget that you're in Norway, and not in a Norwegian-speaking American colony. The newspapers all year and last year were all Trump Kamala Putin Trump Trump Putin Trump Kamala Putin (and of course Biden before he hopped off). I've lived here for five years and seriously don't know any Norwegian politician and have no clue what's happening in Norway. It's all about the US and Ukraine/Russia.
@@Aethuviel I live in the central United States, and was hoping for Kamala and Tim, so I am worried about what Trump's insanity and that of his minions will do, but I am not locked on to news and I know we'll all be better off if we look for ways, like hobbies, to keep us personally happy. We should worry only about things we can do something about. Not much a 77 year old like me can do about our warped, misguided government!🙂
I left social media as a whole about 10 years ago. its been the best thing i could have done for myself. I am happy with everything i have going on. i spend all the time with my son and wife, mess with my vehicles, have other hobbies that consistently physically and mentally challenge me. politics is important in its own right, but it is plagued by social media and insane people shoving their beliefs down everyone's throat. be happy, be calm, be respectful and stay busy.
When the pandemic hit, we all hunkered down and like many of us, I went stir crazy. I grew up riding motorcycles, some off-road but mostly on-road riding. This time around, I decided to pursue the vintage two-stroke motorcycle hobby. I've owned up to seven, but now I have five of them. The sound, smell and power keeps me coming back. Sharing this hobby with others has been a natural way of staying connected and sane. But don't tell Greta.
Sketching and then some more sketching! And learning Norwegian!!! If I’m bored ever, it’s usually because I’m unwell (mercifully rarely). Hobbies are happy diversions from the day’s troubles and strifes. Thank you for your down to earth, calm chats. ❤
I do drawings of people end animals Every day - thats my hobby - AND my way to make a living ❤ I do spinning and walks with my dog 👏🏼 I use a lot of time together with my mom and I am helping a few older people with cleaning 💪🏼😇
I have my books, chickens, walks in nature and fire watching as hobbies. To name a few. I can't do anything about the leadership of this world, but I can control me and thats it . I control my happiness to the best of my abilities. Stay healthy and happy
Agreed.......I am so grateful I grew up in the 60's when we only had one tv and less than a dozen channels. With 3 siblings I didn't get much time to sit and stare at a screen, I was always busy playing with toys and friends, mostly outside. I have a very hard time sitting and watching a screen for any length of time with something to occupy my hands, usually knitting. I love yarn and knitting, crochet, cooking, sewing and nature, long walks. It saddens me that we have gotten to a point in society that we all sit on our own screens and there is very little communication, Friday movie night where we walked to the video store and chose a movie and watched it all together is long gone. I know many younger people who rarely leave their homes and are on screens when they aren't working or at school. So many can't carry on a conversation......Enjoy that grilled cheese!
Since two years I`m doing magnet fishing :) I would say, that is more interesting than fishing and ofcourse more Eco :D You can also try, who knows what You can find in that lake, who knows...
Frankly I never understand people who don't have hobbies. For me, it's "How is that even possible?". Hobbies are a gift you give to yourself and that you don't have to share. I see it as a form of self-love. That might be a stretch but they always bring me pleasure and peace. I've been doing photography for 40 years ( it's my passion ) + I'm always learning and exploring many many things. It's unfortunate that life is so short. Too much to learn and explore. Thanks for the video Bjorn.
Most people who don't have hobbies are like that because of: * Excessive over regulation / licencing * Annual mandatory refresher/update requirements * Extremely expensive licences and permits that have onerous attendance/participation requirements in order to remain 'current' / to maintain * Lack of physical space to do the hobby or to store the required equipment - commonly you are required to own your primary residence or live in a family home (your parents' home) as a licence requirement (I got around that by not moving out of home as the cheapest house is $1 million 2hrs from where I live) * Lack of access - the govt in much of CANZUK & CUNA is closing public land 'to protect it' or 'to give it to the natives', resulting in no access to otherwise empty land you could be enjoying * Lack of $$$$ - over a period of 5yrs (every 5yrs) I'm forced to spend a minimum of $25000 just to be able to have and continue the hobbies I have - that's the licences, permits, update/refresher training and other regulatory costs. You then have to add the actual hobby costs on top of that. Hobbies are only for those that live in countries that aren't over-regulated nanny states, or, only for the rich as most people can't afford to have hobbies and definitely not their own house. One example of just how over-regulated CANZUK & CUNA are is that photography can only be of people, pets or plants. The moment you photograph any other animal you are legally 'hunting' as the definition of hunting includes the 'tracking, coursing and photography of game'. Thus suddenly the photography can be illegal - even if you have the correct hunting licences, you'd still be limited by the legislated seasons, hunting times and bag limits. Sounds stupid but that's the law - I know several people who were given 60 days jail for a first offence because they photographed wild deer without the appropriate hunting licences.
@@matthewnirenbergWhat raging idiots are running things where you live?! That is outrageous! 😮 If they don't let people have affordable hobbies, they may find that the new hobby of the People is to have them ousted! Sorry you are dealing with this.

I knit EVERY DAY. For 50+ years. I have a job, I and my hub raised 3 beautiful daughters each of whom have beautiful wool garments with fiber that passed through my hands.
That is so cool! I too love knitting and crocheting but I haven't done it for many, many years now. I used to spin my own wool too. Still, it's something I consider a survival skill, and I'm grateful to know it.
I personally think one of the greatest things about living in this day and age is the vast amount of topics to learn about, activities to try, and places to explore.
I think for men it's valuable to have a hobby which creates something as a result. Like woodworking, welding, videography, photography, painting, sewing, cooking or even knitting. Especially if you do not create anything valuable at work (or you do not value the products of your work).
My hobby saved my marriage and probably saved my life, no bullshit. I took up photography about 20 years ago just for fun, 5 mins aay from the stress of a young family and my job. I was going crazy and I was on the edge all the time, even having very dark thoughts. My wife and I were at each other's throats all the time 'cos of the stress , just arguing all the time. About 2-3 years after I started taking nature photos my wife said to me, "Haven;t you noticed something?", I said "What?", she said something that blew me away, "Since you took up a hobby, got time to yourself, we've not had a single argument in almost 3 years! Silly little disagreements but the rows we had for hours, they've long gone. You're so much more calm now than you've ever been.". I've since gone on to get competition wins and even places among the top 100 photographers in the country, I've written books and articles about photography, I give talks to camera clubs and been all over the country taking photos. It was my desire to see more places to photograph drove us to by a caravan and we'd take loads of trips and the kids loved being outdoors camping a few times a month all year round. Right now I'm up in the Scottish HIghlands in a cosy cottage with my wife, she's now sadly partially disabled and can't walk but she still comes with me on my trips. We drive around during the day so I can scout locations for shooting, she gets to see the scenery, then I got back in the early mornings and late evenings sometimes alone, to shoot pictures. My wife even owns my photography business as it simplifies our taxes and she's classed as a small business owner. I stil work my day job in tech but my hobby is now most likely to become my retiremnt job as I want to teach and lecture on photography when I retire in a few years time. Hobbies saved my marriage, my family, my sanity and my life.
All profoundly true, every bit. A dear friend of mine would go often fishing on his own (weekends). Often he wouldn't catch any fish, though. One day I asked him why do you continue with fishing if there are hardly any to bring home? His answer: I like the quiet time I have to myself, being in nature. Doesn't matter if I catch a fish or not. It makes me happy. We all need time out in nature
Having a wildlife photography as a hobby is really the best. You get to be in nature, you get tired after hours of walking in the woods and you learn animal, bird behavior... Wonderful!
I love taking care of horses. It’s the healthiest lifestyle I’ve had in 65 years.. mentally, physically and spiritually. Living in class B van eight years. “ nothing evolves in a comfort zone“
My problem is : I have too many hobbies that I don't have enough time to do all of them. Fishing, rowing, swimming, badminton, playing guitar, sewing, knitting, quilting, crocheting, reading, learning languages, hiking, biking, cooking, making soap and candles.....the list goes on. I think having this many hobbies can become overwhelming and stressful
I've got several hobbies, one of which is salvaging and restoring vintage Norwegian bicycles, classics that people often dispose of in recycling stations, i fish them out of the dumpster, bring them home, some end up as parts bikes. One of my main motivations for doing this is that they represent an important part of Norwegian industrial and cultural history that needs protecting.
Glad to hear that you live outside of CANZUK & CUNA where you'd be required to have the appropriate licences as either a mechanic or as a mechanical engineer in order to do that.
what do you do in a hospital? my brother is in hospitall for 2 weeks and he has no indoor hobbies he can do in the evenings, he doesn't like reading, crafts or puzzles
Well said. One needs a hobby to rest mind and spirit. Freaking out over politics seems to indicate a stagnant mental state. The refreshment of natural world relieves conflicting negativity..Thank you for sharing. My hobby is my garden...herbs, flowers and unusual foliage...
Building Lego dioramas fully engages my brain and everything else is forgotten, that's my hobby. I used to do alot of hiking but over did it and ended up with chronic knee pain.
I work fulltime and I have a hobby...crocheting. my hands are busy and my mind is focused on what I am making. It relaxes me. I am also getting back into camping. Sitting by the fire in the am with that first cup of coffee listening to the woods wake up is soothing to the soul.
The world would indeed be a better place if more people sat around fires, cooking and eating a cheese sandwich and just escaping life's insanities! Thank you for being a calming voice.
Being a prepper helps. Remind yourself, all you can do is pray for the best but prepare for the worst. And always take time to escape the artificial life of technology, just be one with nature...it's a sure path to happiness, thanks BJORN....⚔👣
Thank you for this. I took up learning traditional Irish music on the tin whistle and get together with other musicians 1-2 a week to play. Such an awesome sense of camaraderie and music itself transcends this world.
My main hobby is working out I feel so great about myself my energy goes through the roof throughout the day to do other things. But I like other things too like being in the nature. And also I'm learning another language.
I got my Ham licence 9 years ago, it is a wonderfull hobby, I speak to fellow Ham's around the world. I even take my radio with me when I go camping in the mountains.
Vegetable gardening, reading, making wooden furniture, fishing, canning, fermenting, organizing my home inventory, candle making, rendering beef tallow. I’m a licensed therapist and I CONSTANTLY tell my patients they have to create action that is fulfilling to help their mental health. There is no magic pill that will get you there.
I've always had hobbies, and have always been relatively content. That said, moving to the woods and being outside every single day in real nature has changed my entire life AND perspective. Now instead of just being content I'm fulfilled.
Recently retired and just turned 63. Bikepacking, cycling, Fitness, composing original music and recording. I do enjoy watching sports and music documentaries. I also have an aspiring youtube channel, recently monetized and a long ways to go on that. Thank you Bjorn, you are an inspiration.
Same here. You can probably tell from my username what my latest project is/was. Through this hobby I have bought and learned to use machine tools, sheet metalwork, engine tuning among many other things. It's a great relief from depression too
I enjoy everything concerning nature. I love being out in nature. I go hiking in the woods with my dog. I love watching and feeding birds. I like to crochet, it is very relaxing. Social media can be addictive, but I do like watching certain youtubers and feel like they are my friends. Where you are at is beautiful! 😊
First time on your channel, and I really like what you have to say. I couldn't agree more, people need to get a hobby. It doesn't have to be many hobbies, and it doesn't need to be anything impressive or made to impress. Just something that you personally enjoy doing, and hopefully something that challenges you in a positive way. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers

How I long to live back in Norway again Bjorn. The mountains, the fjords, the nature and the people I knew. I will always remember with fondness, my time spent living there. With old age creeping on, my walks are not so long and adventurous anymore, but I still explore my local woods when I can. Fond memories are always with me, and as an Englishman, there will always be a little piece of Norway in my soul.
Believe it or not, you are the hobby. While outdoors is a lovely passion, I enjoy waking up and having my coffee and listening to your voice. It is relaxing lol, odd, but true.
I can't help but notice how beautiful your suroundings are. The water is absolutley still, the trees casting a mirror image on the river. To me , that, is paradise my brother.
My hobbies are knitting, gardening, cooking, making cement vases, watching birds. I loved that raven , there’s no raven in my country. Thanks for sharing!
The desire or drive for a certain hobby/interest certainly waxes and wanes. When sorrow intervenes it demands attention. This does not mean the hobbie is less. It's just that we then dwell on sorrow for as long as we need to. I lost a loved one nearly three years ago in a very tragic situation. I don't think I will ever get fully over it. But at first I thought I couldn't go on. This doesn't mean I was suicidal. It's just that purpose in life vanished in the devastation and in the attempt to grapple with what had happened. It can take years. Whatever it takes to reemerge, changed as we become.
I have 3 rescue horses and just purchased a registered Paint Horse colt. My horses and dogs and work take my time and energy. Love my animals so very much!
Gardening, herbal remedies, canning & other food preservation, cooking & baking from scratch, reading, learning new things, lake life…too many to list!
Gardening, reading, cooking/baking, and choir. Our small choir is evenly divided, politically. We never discuss politics. We are great friends and love each other. I've been there 30 years.
I live in the Netherlands and have a lot of hobby's, mountainbiking, fishing and be in nature every day.I dont have social media for all my 38 years in live. You are so right about this! Stay free!
Totally agree, Bjorn. If this gets that much under your skin, you need to find a life. At 61, i work full time and cooking is relaxing for me. Also things i can do with my hands like basket making.
Yes, I just came in from outdoors…. Getting some air and sun. I purposely pursue hobbies to save my sanity. 😂 I paint landscape, crochet, puzzle, draw, read….to name a few. In the summer months I’m outside gardening, and everything outside…because I love being out.
In Northern Ireland my hobbies are woodworking, motorcycling and looking after the animals on my smallholding , I’m 61 years young but feel having a active life will keep me alive 😉👍
Great video. I totally agree with you. I think a lot of people (here in the States) don't have a lot going on in thier lives, and have found some sort of feeling of importance by latching on to a group to complain about what the current thing to complain about is.
Hello Bjorn, I am rebuilding an Olsevar Faering , which I was able to purchase last July, it’s Iain Oughtred’s Elfyn design built a number of years ago. I’m looking forward to this Winter’s work and sailing her next Summer!
You should never be bored in life Summer months hobbies: swimming, camping out, beach camp fires, gardening, foraging, cooking ,cycling, reading. Winter months: camp fires, reading, writing, sewing, cooking.
Play games is really fun specially if is your work too. But too much in front of a computer is not healthy too. We need to appreciate simple things like being in the nature.
Sad to say, my fathers hobby was drinking. Me? I have too many hobbies. Used to be like you as a younger man. Then, I became old and have disabilities. So these are my hobbies now. Garden, small orchard, chickens, rabbits, greenhouse. Plus cooking, preserving food, meats, making wine, ciders, and more. In fact, I will be installing (myself) a solar generator for the well. Can't be in the woods anymore, but I'm happier than a pig in mud right now.

@@Aethuviel Same in Japan! It's nuts and deeply weird
@@Aethuviel sadly, similar in Denmark. I blame social media as well as the mainstream media.
Sound was fine. So was the advice.
But don't tell Greta.
a lot of men don't have any indoor hobbies, my brother is in hospital for 2 weeks and the room is very basic. He has no hobbies.

Most people who don't have hobbies are like that because of:
* Excessive over regulation / licencing
* Annual mandatory refresher/update requirements
* Extremely expensive licences and permits that have onerous attendance/participation requirements in order to remain 'current' / to maintain
* Lack of physical space to do the hobby or to store the required equipment - commonly you are required to own your primary residence or live in a family home (your parents' home) as a licence requirement (I got around that by not moving out of home as the cheapest house is $1 million 2hrs from where I live)
* Lack of access - the govt in much of CANZUK & CUNA is closing public land 'to protect it' or 'to give it to the natives', resulting in no access to otherwise empty land you could be enjoying
* Lack of $$$$ - over a period of 5yrs (every 5yrs) I'm forced to spend a minimum of $25000 just to be able to have and continue the hobbies I have - that's the licences, permits, update/refresher training and other regulatory costs.
@@matthewnirenberg there are regulations for a reason. There are plenty of hobbies that are cheap such has jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, reading, art and crafts, wild life gardening etc
Inspired by this video I am writing a research paper on hobbies for college; I hope you don't mind me using a couple of your ideas.
Me TOO, I knit intricate lace and always have a sock or somethig else on the side.
Have you ever made any wool neck gators? I love them!
women seem to have more indoor hobbies then men
I personally think one of the greatest things about living in this day and age is the vast amount of topics to learn about, activities to try, and places to explore.
agree
Wise words Bjorn. As usual, many thanks.
My hobby is guitar. I absolutely love to pick it up at the end of a difficult day.
Nice reminder sir.
My favorite hobbies are working out, cooking, walking outdoors, playing video games, sketching & painting & practicing martial arts.
I think for men it's valuable to have a hobby which creates something as a result. Like woodworking, welding, videography, photography, painting, sewing, cooking or even knitting.
Especially if you do not create anything valuable at work (or you do not value the products of your work).
My hobby is playing guitar & singing. I've put some music videos on my channel since two years ago. Thank you Bjorn!
Your story is wonderful 👍
The small mic is working very well.
Having a wildlife photography as a hobby is really the best. You get to be in nature, you get tired after hours of walking in the woods and you learn animal, bird behavior... Wonderful!
I love taking care of horses.

Well my advice is to start with the dishes
I have the same problem, I'm trying to reduce some of them so I can spend more quality time on the others.
haha you sound like me, I have adhd but I love the variety of hobbies
I've got several hobbies, one of which is salvaging and restoring vintage Norwegian bicycles, classics that people often dispose of in recycling stations, i fish them out of the dumpster, bring them home, some end up as parts bikes. One of my main motivations for doing this is that they represent an important part of Norwegian industrial and cultural history that needs protecting.
🚲🧡
Glad to hear that you live outside of CANZUK & CUNA where you'd be required to have the appropriate licences as either a mechanic or as a mechanical engineer in order to do that.

Busy hands are happy hands.

My hobby used to be playing the piano. After much sorrow, I lost the desire. Enjoy your hobbies Bjorn.
I would think playing the piano would ease sorrow.a
@rashone2879 if only you knew everything that has happened. 🤲🕊️
I so love playing the Piano and lose my self completely
Express and Integrate your sorrow through your piano
