Why would you use operating cost as a method of comparison knowing very well that EVs are always gonna be cheaper 1 lakh kilometres of Innova with mileage of 7km per litre , assuming @Rs100/litre = Rs 13-14 lakhs BYD would cost Rs 1/km ...hence 1 lakh km = Rs 1 - 2 lakh electricity cost even with commercial charging. Savings of 10-12 lakh for 1lakh kilometres And when talking about charging points, you need to update yourself and actually take a look at how many are already there in india. Per unit charge is exact 19 per unit + 18% GST. Which is expensive. It's almost get close to CNG running cost. If you have charger installed at some industrial area where per unit charge is less approx 6 Rs per unit additional other taxes it can go upto 8-9 rs per unit. Which is merciful on one's pocket. If you have connection at your residence it's will get quite expensive.

Cost to charge BEV one third of cost of diesel, no oil changes, no radiator to flush, brake pads last three times longer because the engine braking takes most of the load, health costs from not having to breathe diesel fumes, an oil poor country does not have to import a ton of diesel so the balance of payments are better. If I were a fleet operator I would run BEVs and if I were a country I would give incentives. No brainer.

They have options ranging from solid state batteries, hydrogen fuel cells etc. And also note that batteries are one of the important factors of a good ev.
