Wow, 9's. I haven't used strings that light since I first started playing guitar more than 20 years ago.

Man this is really awesome. Super useful, now I don't need to struggle detuning manually. Thanks!

I've been through a bunch of octave and pitch shifters.. this pedal tracks the best and has the most organic sound.

Nice presentation...I sold my original to the Tool tech for a backup (1K) a number of years back, finally considering adding the new model to the board.

Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for something that would allow me to avoid bringing multiple basses to a gig for multiple tunings. Hopefully when gigs resume this will be an option

EARTHQUAKE! Hahaaaa! It does a pretty darn decent job of going wayyyyy too low. Hahaaa! Sick episode my man! Great history / background on downtuning as well. Really badass video!

I got the digitech ricochet red pedal and it always sounded solid as hell down to about drop B on my standard 6, below that it struggles. I have tried using it for my basses and it's kinda weird. It sound nice going UP more then down, but if i drop it the full octave and just ignore the E string on my 4, it kinda does a fake A0 better than when i drop the b string on my 5 down one whole step. it;s like the digital wizardry handles the octave better than just a step or 2. I've even baritoned a 4 string bass with 80-25 strings and tuned physically to high A, just to drop it a clean octave for playing KoRn basslines. be nice to have a pedal made for basses.

Great video! Can this pedal do heavier tunings like C standard / drop B without too much glitching?
Also, that thingy that you did at 9:40 is one of the coolest sounds I've ever heard come out of a bass guitar.

      Thanks!!
As for lower tunings, yeah, it works out - you’re effecting the pitch when you bring the settings lower, which causes weird sound artifacts to show up but if you’re already tuned lower that’s less of an issue

Hey man, great video, so I’ve been using the red drop tune pedal for guitar sounds mint but it seems to struggle with the bass, would this blue drop pedal be able to take the bass from drop d to drop c, b a & g?

Hey man, yeah, I think you’d have better luck with the bass whammy for that application compared to use of the Drop. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the drop simply because the interval options are less specific than they are on the whammy pedals but as far as actual precision I’d go with the bass whammy.

I’ve been thinking about getting the red pedal to use this kind of effect on my guitar and my bass, do you think this pedal would be a better option?

    • @MilesDoesMusic
      @MilesDoesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey!
So the red whammy is a decent option for both guitar and bass; a number of bassists use the red rather than the blue to achieve the high pitch shifts that’re associated with it. In that regard, there’s not much difference between the two models aside from a different set of intervals being available in both pitch/harmony menus on the pedal.
As for pitching down though, I’d argue perhaps the blue tracks better being constructed with the intention of being used with bass, but truly either model, as long as it has the “chords” switch on it will do just fine. Best of luck!!

Verty interresting disscusion and and video. Is that bass strung with typical standard strings for E-tuning?

The main flaw of the pedal is that its missing the stomp buttons. Having to get down to switch settings during a show sucks. Plus the dial knob breaks off super easy.
