Once you've signed up for the student discount, where do you actually pay for the thing? It just sent me an email saying I was eligible but I don't see where I pay...

@@AlHowell Hey, I did find out. You have to redeem the token and then download the launcher, login, and add the software you need before purchasing anything. Then before you try buy anything it sends you an email with a link to a shopping cart with the all access pass in it, then you check the coupon button that should appear to apply the discount.

Then when you're no longer a student get prepared to be bent over a barrell trying to meet the yearly costs for all the subscription software you need to continue (CC, Substance, Maya, ZBrush etc). That and the fact you're not considered a student unless you're studying through an accredited universtity or school, learning by buying courses online does not entitle you to student discount. It's not awesome at all IMO.
Replace Maya with blender, substance painter with quixel mixer, zbrush with blender until you can get a perpetual license.
@@witchlynproductions753 quixel mixer is not even close to being a replacement for Substance 3D Painter, it lacks SO many things, if you are using blender for modeling and rendering, just pay the 20$ license for substance

@@AlHowell i remember. I was glad the school I studied at provided me with a license. But once I graduated, I couldn’t afford it. So having this option can help a lot of people.
In the past this worked for all of my students. We use C4d at school but for practice and private projects students took this offer. It is not for commercial usage.

Students are not the only people with low incomes so they should not be the only people entitled to discounts.
The fact that zbrush charges so much to most and then so little for a select few only encourages and somewhat justifies using cracked software.
It's a discriminatory practice if you think about it. How can you legally charge some users less for the same product based on their educational status, it's madness.

This is sadly no longer valid, perpetual licences are gone, and the price for the student annual licence is 73 euro or 75 dollar a year.

I was curious if I'm understanding this correctly. I could buy and use the perpetual license whenever, but when I want the software updated just turn on one month of subscription which will update the software permeantly even after the subscription goes away?
Then I could repeat this method whenever I feel like updating it again? I want zbrush for making character models in a game I want to make also for 3d printing as a free time hobby thing.
No, I think you would have a perpetual license and a subscription license. After the month is over, you would lose access to that version. It checks your license status often

So, I teach high school and my school if definitely not affiliated. I had to reach out to them via email bc I was denied 2 times and then they approved it

Whatever you do please don't ruin the way Zbrush works 😥 Maxon is relatively safer than Autodesk and Adobe. At least they have a good reputation for keeping the originality intact of the tools. But still, the users are worried 😬😬😬
That's a good point. The only updates I have seen thus far have been better integration into C4D and reshift :(
click bait title.. because it only applies to students and teachers.. (not everyone, as the title suggests) And to make things even worse.. it's not a one time 20USD either.. like the title suggests... but yearly.
The thumbnail contains a student. Yes, it's $20 dollars per year. All of this was discussed in the video. Which is still an amazing deal.
@@AlHowell the "student" can also be seen as a "smart person", like a professor is smart.
but none the less, in my opinion the title does not properly match the content in terms of reach/audience. Hence the term clickbait, which refers to exactly that (attention generation headlines with hyperbolic statements, where there is a catch attached. "It's only !" but in reality it's only under very certain conditions that many don't have)
But, alas we disagree, and that is fine. :)

You can still get it for $20 bucks as a student or educator. They have just shifted some things around
Sadly that is exactly the problem. As a fulltime worker you can not effort a student version. I bet maxon would have much more customers with the option for a perpetual license🙂
