Once punalur was famous for first independent industrial estate area in India since British time till 70 s last and 80 s first months , Asia's biggest paper mill, plywood factory, pineapple factory, automobile hub in south India, first boating started in Palladam river as tourist and film shooting hub in kerala and India. First interstate railway, first cement hub depot.first 3, 5 star hotel in state, biggest open market in kerala, government hospital, bus stand .private colleges hub, school hub.temple city of south once.
Secondly punalur hanging bridge.
Now punalur is having only hanging bridge.
All industry closed for strikes.
Now just kallada river crying.
