Turtles in Time is another beat em' up I would add to this list. Probably my favorite beat em' up ever and it can be completed in about 45ish minutes. Really liked this video idea!
It's all about Raph man. He's a glass cannon but he wrecks bosses and one shot's a couple of enemies. That running kick you can do with special is the strongest move in the game. For everything else do the smash throw to clear screens quickly.
This game is probably the one I retroactively am most jealous about, being a Sega kid back in the day. I didn't even know there was a turtles best em up for mega drive, but even then I've played both since, and the SNES one is the equal joint best console best em up with streets of rage 2. Wish I had turtles in time back in the day, and a snes as well as my mega drive.
Psycho Dream has character art by Marino Nishizaki and was going to be released on the SNES in the West as Dream Probe, but was never released (alongside The Journey Home, which was going to be a localized version of Neugier) due to its publisher Renovation being bought by Sega. Aero Fighters (aka Sonic Wings) was an arcade port, and I remember playing the arcade game when I was living in my second household.
I remember seeing official Western artwork for Psycho Dream online. Too bad it wasn't released, it's a weirdly interesting game, and the SNES could use more straight up action platformers.
I watched your video as meticulously as I usually do, writing down the games that interest me on a post-it note. Then afterward I scrolled down to 'Like' and realized I wrote down most of the games listed in the description! Cheers Bud! Great video as usual. :)
Wow! This video was great. Now that I'm older and don't have as much time to play games I will definetely check some of these out. Keep up the great work.
Whenever I watch your videos, in another tab I either have eBay up searching for your recommended titles, or Emu Paradise to download the roms. You rock, SNES drunk. Keep on rockin'.
Another Japan only game I'd suggest is Majuu Ou. It's got a pretty dark, bloody artstyle and a dark story. It's a SOLID action platformer, and I've beaten it several times
Want another fast and fun beat-em-up? Battletoads & Double Dragon. Ironically, combining two hard-as-nails games resulted in one that's a bit easier. It's still a blast though. My brother and I can beat it in about a half-hour as two-player co-op.
It's extremely nice, in the era of 10+ minute videos to sometimes 25 minute or more videos to have a quick, 3-8 minute video (I know this video is 9:15 but it's longer than the average SNESdrunk video, and yet still to-the-point) discussing positive and negative aspects of games from someone who has a deep interest in them. It's both succinct and as comprehensive as it needs to be. I wish I could find more quality videos like these.
Although this one is obviously a bootleg title, Hong Kong 97 is an incredibly short game: you can literally reach the Final (also first and only) Boss in under 5 minutes.
SNES drunk Good question, it's like when my speedrunning friends recommend that I pick up Fantasia for the Genesis to play, a game that I am pretty sure has been banned by the Hague as a "Crime Against Humanity".
Surprised not to see any Mega Man games, I guess with their challenge and first-timer "gotta figure out weaknesses and upgrade locations" aspects they can take hours on the first go, but once you're experienced they're 30-60 minute romps, and some of the best out there. Also surprised not to see Mario RPG as one of the shorter and simpler but still wholly satisfying RPGs on the system, as well as Robotrek which is quite short for the genre and a hidden gem of unique fun IMHO... or games you can just pop in for a few minutes of fun without having to go through the whole game like Tetris Attack, F-Zero or Mario Kart. Of course, you do have a way of showcasing the less-obvious which is a good thing, but I'm just saying there's plenty of material for future episodes of this, it's a great idea :P
I just wanna say thank you. Your videos are always my first choice when picking what to watch. You help me fine new games that I want to try or get for my collection.
This is a great idea for a list, thanks. I was wondering if you could do a list of the relaxing games to play. You know when you get off work late and got a beer in your hand and you just want to kick back and chill.
Good list but Contra III the alien wars should have atleast been a honorable mention, 6 levels, some overpowered weapons like the Crash gun (combo) can easily finish a boss. Can be cleared around 30 minutes or less if your just running straight. It does not take too much time to get a GameOver either.
While I love that game at the end of the day it's Contra and it takes skill and memorization, not something your average person can pick up and quickly beat.
I love this idea, and of course your awesome channel. The Go Go Ackman games are just fun, solid if not remarkable. Everyone should play at least one of them. I need a copy of Psycho Dream, it looks great.
I remember Super Mario RPG being pretty short if you go a straight path to the boss. Also Chip and Chap is pretty short as fast to complete, but also a lot of fun to play.
I quite often find the times he says it takes to complete a game a bit optimistic. Perhaps he's using save states or something. We did beat Aladdin in one afternoon while drinking vodka though so it can't be that hard. After we finished we realised there is a drift mechanic that we hadn't used at all as well
@@BigBobby7847 countless resets/rewinds on my SNES mini just to get past the carpet part in the cave of wonders and more tries on the cloud scene until I gave up. I'm bad at video games, clearly, but I still think alladdin is really difficult.

My sister and I recently played and finished Kirby Super Star and adored the gameplay. Then my dad and I eventually finished Goof Troop together, but-while it was plenty fun- it was not a quick play through for us ;-) Great video!
This was a great idea, I've got a massive pile of shame that I should really be doing more about, and knowing which games I can beat quickly will be a big help. I would add "Sanrio World Smash Ball!", my first Super Famicom import, which I bought because this channel recommended it in one of those import-friendly lists. It's a game that's probably in multiplayer (I've unfortunately never had the chance), but it does have a single player mode, which I believe I cleared in just an hour or two.
Yep! Just a dollar or more and you can recommend a game, watch the videos one week before and every month there is a cartridge giveaway, the last giveaway was Soul Blazer, cool! Huh?
Great idea for a video Drunk, very helpful! I am always playing some epic 80+ hours since I love RPGs and hard platform/brawler games which demands lots of memorization. I love them deeply but sometimes it is too much. Probably lots of people here feels the same.
I was going to say Hyperzone! It was one of the first games I got on the SNES as a kid, and whenever I didn't have enough time to get into anything deep, I would always pick it it up. It's fantastic.
A couple of other honorable mentions: Aero The Acrobat; Road Runner’s Death Valley Rally; Rock and Roll Racing; TMNT IV: Turtles in Time. All 4 are pretty straight forward, simplistic enough, and can be beat within an hour. Two honorable, albeit slightly longer games would be Act Raiser and Soul Blazer. They’re, again, not overly challenging and can be beat in roughly 2 and a half hours. The RPG list was solid: any shorter RPGs (Arcana, Paladin’s Quest, Y’s III) require a fair amount of skill and knowledge of the game to make them “short”.
So much love for bringing up Lagoon! This game haunted my past for years - couldn't beat that damned white bird thing at the very end. Until I wound up buying the game used years after the SNES went the way of the dodo and finally beat it. Man the music was something else... the pre-title cinematics' theme/the game's main theme is soooo metal... But dat tootpik tho x_x
sunset riders for sure. it's not too difficult on easy(still hard, but fair, and that challenge makes it really fun to beat). amazing game. so much fun
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends is a great short game to play on the SNES. You put the game in. Boot it. Turn off your SNES. Throw the cartridge to the closest solid wall and call it GG.
Y'know, I gotta say Mystic Quest is a great mention. It gets dunked on SO HARD and SO UNDESERVEDLY. It's not supposed to be a big complex world with layered morality, it's intended as an introductory game to RPGs and IMO nails it. I was 7 when it came out and it was the first RPG I could beat by myself. Mystic Quest was and is a perfect way to introduce non-gamers and young kids to 16 bit console JRPGs.
My go-to favorites for short sessions on SNES: Wild Guns and Ninja Warriors Again. And if you dig it, there's a remastered and absolute incredible Wild Guns Reloaded and The Ninja Saviors: Return of the Warriors! Also really enjoy The Return of Double Dragon. It's not for everyone but I happen to find the slower and more methodical game play very engaging and satisfying and the soundtrack is totally rad!
LAGOON thank you! I have been trying to remember the name of that game for years. It's the first game I beat b4 my father and for the longest time I could never describe it to anyone cause I forgot the name and saying "game with bowl hair cut kid and tiny sword" left people stumped.
Not a serious suggestion as game, but on technical terms, the SNES ''game'' that one could play and finish the fastest certainly would be what's called the ''Controller Test Cartridge''.
I love seeing Super Famicom exclusive titles on these lists that I have actually played. So many good games that never made it over here. It's kind of a shame really.
Do people really consider the "games" in Kirby Super Star as real, separate games? I always saw them as parts to one game, and the gourmet race etc being minigames. For my suggestions, I beat Crayon Shin-chan 2 in about 30 minutes, and Poko-nyan henpokorin adventure in about the same time, although not with a great score and grade
THANK YOU so much for making this. i absolutely HATE hard games especially in today's generation where game genie doesn't even exist. at least on snes that option is there making gameplay quicker but these games are nice that i can just pick up and play and not feel like i am actually working at something instead of just being entertained.
Okay, you putting Magical Quest on the list shows that I can't trust you. I remember renting that as a kid, and it was great fun but it took the whole weekend to make it to the later levels and I sure didn't beat it.
Ninja Warriors is pretty quick, just played through it with all three characters the other day. I want to say it's less than an hour each. Soundtrack is amazing too. The ending song is a masterpiece.
Umihara Kawase should really be on any list of fast-to-complete SNES games. If your playtime reaches over 30 minutes the game will actively send you to an end level, and when you know what you're doing you can complete the short route in around 2 or 3 minutes. It makes up for all this by having replay value through the roof. But the learning curve is pretty steep.
_Goof Troop_ "A great playthrough that just flies by" "The puzzles are all intuitive" "A great game with either a single player or a friend helping you out" Now I'm just remembering the Game Grumps playthrough, and I can't help but laugh.
I think of Kirby Superstar as one big game with the "6 games in 1" gimmick (not counting the two mini games). The games all have a different format but the same basic gameplay (except for the minor tweak in one of them). My playthrough of Star Ocean was 18 hours.
Metal Warriors is a good one for this category. It’s a somewhat difficult action platformer, if you don’t die too much you can finish in 30-45 minutes. It’s actually pretty similar to another good choice for this list, Cybernator. Hmm, maybe mecha games need a separate video ;)
Super Turrican is a fun one that clocks in at about 1-1.5 hours. I personally love Mystic Quest since I was a kid when I got it. Great soundtrack. Really really easy to play through so it’s harder to enjoy as an adult.
I'm amazed you didn't mention Mario RPG or Spike McFang for RPGs. Spike McFang is particularly short and can probably be beaten in 5 hours or less if you grind in the right areas, and Mario RPG has a lot of side content and mini games, but it also can be beaten in a few hours
Super Aleste, Contra, Mario World, Mario Kart, Street Fighter 2, Super Ghouls n Ghosts (well first time through any way), Exhaust Heat (one full season in about 80 minutes is possible) and perhaps Axelay as well can all be done in about an hour. Super Aleste is my favourite though I complete it every time I switch it on.
I recommend Battleclash and its sequel Metal Combat. 2 Super Scope games that are fun as hell. It’s easily beatable on the first playthrough, but still worth playing over and over.
Turtles in Time is another beat em' up I would add to this list. Probably my favorite beat em' up ever and it can be completed in about 45ish minutes. Really liked this video idea!

That Go Go Ackman character looks like a lot with Trunks from Dragon Ball saga.
The character designs were done by Akira Toriyama, who is famous for DBZ and a Dr. Slump.
Just letting everyone know
It's based on a manga by Akira Toriyama.
That explains why
Looks like kid Trunks had his own "Saiyaman" phase he doesn't like to talk about...😂

Gunman's Proof, or Gunple, is really fun to play. I loved the game. And the soundtrack? One of the best from the SNES era.
There isn't a more shining recomendation than, "I am obligated to mention..."
Super Turrican is a fun one that clocks in at about 1-1.5 hours. I personally love Mystic Quest since I was a kid when I got it. Great soundtrack. Really really easy to play through so it’s harder to enjoy as an adult.
Good music in Mystic Quest too. That guy with the bombs theme song rules.
Adding this to watch later there's a couple of games I'm interested in playing on here...
Drunks opinion on Lagoon:
"It might suck, but at least its short"
😂

I'm amazed you didn't mention Mario RPG or Spike McFang for RPGs.
Spike McFang is particularly short and can probably be beaten in 5 hours or less if you grind in the right areas, and Mario RPG has a lot of side content and mini games, but it also can be beaten in a few hours
Others have said it and I agree. TURTLES IN TIME!
The Capcom Alladin was the first game I ever beat as a kid. But it took me THREE YEARS. That damn carpet stage...
Super Mario RPG is about 11-15 hour play through.
Great video drunk your still knocking them out of the park. Homerun touch down and goal. Love me some drunk vids.
Lurked this channel for awhile.
Love the juicy content: subbed! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Oh my god, they've got a Gunman game 😂😂 Gunman's Proof.

I love how you tried to slide there lol.
I recommend Battleclash and its sequel Metal Combat. 2 Super Scope games that are fun as hell. It’s easily beatable on the first playthrough, but still worth playing over and over.
I'm an average guy. I see a SNESDrunk video, I hit the like button
That last game, Gunman's Proof looks awesome
Yay, a Darius shoutout!
