As far as the potential variable power levels go for the different Fusions, I always took it to mean that the Fusion depends on the fusees' compatibilities and their latent combined potential at the time of fusing. So, while Goten and Trunks might have a lot of potential, they lack the kind of compatibility in mindset/soul to be as effective as Vegito/Gogeta is. They're just kids horsing around, but Goku and Vegeta are competitive fighters who push each other to get stronger.
I would argue that Goku hadn’t yet mastered super Saiyan 3, only that he had achieved it, given the fact that he could not sustain it for very long periods of time yet
Actually he did master it. Remember after his fight with Hit when he first used Kaioken with blue and his Ki was all out of wack. He did some special training with Whis to fix it and and as a result he actually mastered to where he can transform into it without wasting ki (when he did the little sparring match against trunks he didn't take as long as transforming into ssj3 as he normally work). He still has stamina issues as far as sustaining it, but since he has access to his full power in ssj3 instead of half, he can do more and theoretically at least twice as long.
I love the Metamoro fusion. I like the ritual you have to do. The design is cool. Gogeta is my favorite fusion. Cool insight to the technique. Thanks Geekdom.
3:58- it also would save Toriyama time drawing multiple people fighting an opponent due to his speciality on one on one fights. It’s very much in character to do so.
I think the minds fuse as well as the bodies and ki so it makes sense that the mind/fight intelligence becomes significantly stronger. Both individuals' experience and fight strategies ascend to another level along with the creation of the new fused character.
That's the entire point and hex of fusing. Not only do their bodies fuse together but also do their minds, personality, skills, spirit etc. get magnified on top of it and especially in Gokus and Vegetas case two already strong personalities which totally contrast eachother along with the fact both of them being Pure Saiyans just makes up for a even more powerful chemistry when fusing which even further boosts the fusion effect. that's why when Goku and Vegeta fuse together they get titled as the "Ultimate Warrior" cause when they fuse together which is already a hard thing for them to do due to their rivarly, not only do they get much more powerful when joined but all of their personal weaknesses that they may inhabit on their own get totally nulified by eachothers personal strengths the other may not necessarily inhabit making up for a perfectly balanced fighter with "no weaknesses" is what you get with Vegito/Gogeta.
My dad and I used to do the fusion dance when we would play video games like God of War and Mortal Kombat when we were facing off against a tough anime such as Shao Khan. We were unstoppable when we were fused, and I loved every minute when we were fused. We even thought of a fused name for ourselves. Of course, we couldn't do the duel voice thing, unfortunately.
Yardrat gets so much more love. I've been dying to see Metamoran people in Dragon Ball since DBZ aired the episodes on Toonami 20 years ago. Seeing Metamoran fighters in the Tournament of Power would have been amazing! I hope one day Toyotaro brings them into a story. He loves his deep lore, after all.
The concept of the Fusion Dance is a lot more interesting and creative than the Potara Fusion. Two individuals have to focus their power levels to be in sync and perform a dance with no slips ups.
To be fair, it's more creative because more thought was put into it. Potara fusion was only designed because Toriyama didn't want to steal thunder from Fusion Reborn by using Gogeta. Vegito and Potara fusion was more of an afterthought.
Potara would be interesting if we could see lasting effects. never really liked that goku and vegeta didnt stay like that longer. vegito fighting kid buu wouldve been awesome. maybe they could figure out how to unfuse later or whatever but i dont like that its there for a minute and gone the next

8:10 doesn't piccolo give gohan clothes using a beam twice in the manga? i don't find a technique designed by a specific race giving the users clothing to match said race that much different from the idea of piccolo just summoning fabric onto people lol

Buy’s Fury gave us the Fusion Dance and it was awesome. Even gave us a 5 minute timer to use it, without a cooldown to use it again. There was a random button sequence you had to use to not mess it up, but there was also a sure fire sequence that would always work.
The whole Potara Fusion vs Fusion Dance thing. I always took the Elder Kai saying the earrings are Stronger as bragging about how much better the Potara are compared to the Dance. To be fair the Potara are superior to the Dance due to the fact it last longer, you don't have to worry about messing up the Fusion and getting weaker, and you don't have to make yourself weaker to fuse. Also the Elder Kai saying that because Goku and Vegeta are rivals makes Vegito stronger, I always assumed meant that because they are rivals neither personality is more dominant, which means they can fuse their moves together to make them more powerful instead of using their original moves. Also if Goku and Vegeta base are equal, then that means Gogeta can be as strong as Vegito because neither of them need to lower their power level to fuse. Anyway my main takeaway is that Vegito can be stronger than Gogeta, but Gogeta can be equal with Vegito.
It seemed originally potara was supposed to be better than the dance. There's no way to mess it up. It combines the strength of both people at their strongest, as compared to the dance where one would had to power down to be equal of the weaker of the two. For example, if Goku and Vegeta did both forms of fusion, the dance would be a fusion of 2 Vegetas (Vegeta, and Goku powered down to equal Vegeta). We'll say Vegeta is a 2, and Goku is a 2.2, so the dance would be 2x2=4. The potara can let Goku stay at full power so the potara would be 2x2.2=4.4. 4.4 is greater than 4, meaning potara is better. And also at the time there was no time limit. Now, it doesn't seem to matter. Goku and Vegeta are basically equal, so the creators say the strength of Gogeta vs Vegito are basically equal. And now the potara is reconned into having a time limit too (1 hour vs the dance's 30 minutes) but there's less time if the fusion is too strong. So basically, potara was better before, but now they are effectively equal except potara won't give you fat or old Vegito.

It actually is pretty understandable why the fusion lasts for a shorter time when using high amounts of energy. It's just like when you turn the brightness of your cellphone all the way up, that causes the battery to drain faster.
Perks of fusion probably doesn't just include power boost. It has been stated to create a new warrior that's superior than the two. Personality - When you get Goku who is goofy and careless, Vegeta who is too uptight and tensed at all times fused together, their extremes cancel out each other. So Gogeta is perfectly on guard but not tensed like vegeta. Serious but still have a sense of humor. Techniques wise he is also superior as he has come up with completely different techniques that Goku and Vegeta has never used before.
I understand why people get the metamorans and the yardratians mixed up. They are both alien races that taught Goku important techniques offscreen during a timeskip. We never saw them except through cameos of the yardratians in the anime. Goku could have just said "yardratians in the afterlife" instead of a new alien race, and it would have made sense and we wouldn't have known better. If you have 2 things that do the same thing, and changing the name to the other would make sense still, then it's something that many will be confused about
THEY NEED TO DO VEGITO JUSTICE. Give him at least 4 episodes of screen time and or a movie but with every minute of him on screen, it needs to be badass animation.
@@gengar5213 the reason for that is that vegito always fights immortal characters or he is stalling on purpose like in buu case. Zamasu had infinite regeneration, and with buu he had to save the others so he couldnt kill him, on top of his great regeneration even though strong characters can negate that as proven by vegito himself Gogeta however always fought characters that were just strong, no immortality no regeneration no hax abilities. So he could pummel them and destroy them like he did with janemba and almost did with broly. And he could do so with Omega Shenron aswell
@@TheEntity7 he didnt have regeneration, atleast not in a great scale like buu or zamasu he was just strong. He could dematerialise and rematerialize at will but thats not regeneration. And while yes he was a reality warper, gogeta was just so strong it was basically irrelevant. Too fast for him to react and too strong that he was casually obliterated. Now unless you want to count one of the Z games where he is the main villain where he will always regenerate as long as evil exists in the multiverse, then yeah but thats a different story

I have a theory that since this technique came from the metamorans of U7, this technique won't work for characters from any other universe because not only would U6 have metamorans with a completely different dance, the other universes may not have metamorans at all.

The idea of both freiza and cell fusing is both cool and scary. Both are already smart and incredibly skilled fighters, and their power on their own is crazy so for those two to be humble enough to fuse with each other just might create something that could rival beerus and make even whiss raise an eyebrow.

If you watch mistare fusion dragon ball disection video apparently toriyama was going to make gogeta canon but toei ended up using him first in fusion reborn. Which of course ended up spoiling him and making toriyama to quickly come up with potara fusion
I’ve always been really fascinated by the concept of the failed fusions like Veku & Fat Gotenks (side note can’t wait to see Fat Gotenks in Super Hero, even though I wish he would’ve been given a different name like Fat Gogeta was actually called Veku) and how that actually works. I know you said in this video that those forms make them weaker but my head-cannon for Veku was that maybe the failed Fusion is only half of the power of the true fusion along with half of the time limit bc of some inconsistencies in the anime while Goten & Trunks were testing the technique for the first time. It would make the failed Fusions so much cooler if they still were a power up but only at half of the full potential.
Metamoran Fusion is amazing if the fusion has too much power and it uses that power in full force it will defuse early but if the fusion uses full power at the point of attack the fusion will last till the end of the fight

I don't think all high power fusions reduce the fusion time of the fusion dance. Ssj3 was the only form to be officially stated to reduce the fusion time. So it's likely the ssj blue is still locked at 30 minutes. Could be the strain Ssj3 puts on the body. However this is different than the vegetto blue potaro fusion where the Kai stated that their emense power drained the fusion time
Its also worth mentioning in dbs broly they forwent the idea of the 1 hr wait between fusion attempts IF They did wait the hr, frieza took well over 3 hrs of a beating
Goten & Trunks will attempt the Fusion Dance in Dragon Ball Super Superhero movie, but they get it wrong. Hopefully they will keep trying until they get it right so they can help Super Awakened Gohan & Piccolo fight the Gamma Androids
This is just head canon, but for the whole "stronger a fusion is the shorter the fusion", I assume that the fusion can get back up to that half hour max via better ki control (be able to access the high power without draining as much time, aka "stamina"). This could be achieved through practice and knowing about the time drain so you could "correct" it. This is why I think Gogeta didn't just instantly defuse in Super Broly. Even though Vegito is a different fusion, they probably have a similar feeling and both Goku and Vegeta would remember how little time they had as Vegito Blue. So, by remembering that feeling, they corrected it for Gogeta,
I don't think that extra scene from the anime, where Goku shows SS3 to the kids, makes really a difference, because they both already saw the transformation while he was fighting Buu, through Babidi. What it doesn't make sense is that, they knew what the form was called, but they still call it Ultra Super Saiyan, and what makes even less sense is that they are surprised to "discover" that there's something stronger than Super Saiyan even though they saw both Super Saiyan 2 and 3.
Trunks himself questioned, eyes closed, how can be possible for such form to exist, but the only time we saw Trunks and Goten, afterwards, is just when they open their eyes in shock because of the final result of the transformation. After that only 18, Yancha and Muten are shown to close their eyes again and later 18, Popo and Piccolo are shown with their eyes wide open because the Santuary was shacking. It is a bit ambiguous, I'd admit that, BUT at that point, no matter what, they would know for sure that there is a Super Saiyan 2 and a Super Saiyan 3, since they saw 2 from both Vegeta and Goku (I don't think they saw Gohan do it), and they felt the huge power boost after Goku said he would transform beyond 2.

I like how other spurces of dragon ball put powerscaling like when vegito states that mui goku can handle a full power ikari super saiyan or (full power)broly but isnt strong enough to beat broly And when supreme kai states that if anybody can handle a full power broly it is jiren Plus a bit of detail in that xenoverse 2 legendary pack 2 dlc is that when gogeta is in base the player can still damage him normally but when gogeta unfuses broly obtains super armor But when a full power jiren is on the field we are able to deal normal damage to broly Showing that gogeta base is equal to full power broly but doesnt have enough strength to beat him And a full power jiren is equal to broly but also doesnt have enough strength to beat him So i kinda like the extra detail So if you want a true accurate representation of fusion use multiple sources where you can put it together to understand left right up down
My guess is the fusion technique works like a jutsu in Naruto. The user can cancel the technique early if they want to or they can let it last its natural amount of time. So anytime you see a fusion ending before 30 minutes, it's probably because the fused warrior wanted it to. As for the 1-hour break in between fusions, that would have had to have been added in to create a sense of urgency. After all, if fusion only lasts 30 minutes, but can be done over and over again with no time in between, then imposing a 30-minute time limit would be meaningless, since the defused warriors could just refuse immediately and continue the fight. Only by adding in both the 30 minute time limit and 1 hour break in between would toriyama be able to create tension. And in my personal opinion, having Gotenks defuse right before he was going to beat super buu, and having gogeta defuse right before he was going to beat Omega shenron were excellent plot devices.

the next time Gogeta appears, he might be just the most broken and overpowered character in the series. Just imagine, Gogeta being able to use UI AT WILL, while also possessing the powers of Ultra Ego (not sure if at the same time, or alternating both). Plus, both Vegeta and Goku are already much, much stronger individually. Their techniques will be also further mastered and refined, so his overall exponential powers will be utterly ridiculous. Gogeta soon could be the first character to be able to compete head to head, (maybe not win), against Whis and Beerus
Gogeta would *definitely* win against Beerus. Even individually, Goku and Vegeta are stronger than most GoDs at their peak strength, and Gogeta's base-form would be dramatically stronger than that. With UE and/or UI, he'd be millions of times more powerful than the average GoD. No way Beerus is at that level, even if he is solidly stronger than the vast majority of them. Whis would very likely be a different story, though.

In original manga and on cannon dragonball its never stated that using more power drains the time limit faster for the metamoran fusion. The time limit variables have only been used in reference to the potara fusion. So although unlikely gogeta blue could be written to last the full half hour

It seemed originally potara was supposed to be better than the dance. There's no way to mess it up. It combines the strength of both people at their strongest, as compared to the dance where one would had to power down to be equal of the weaker of the two. For example, if Goku and Vegeta did both forms of fusion, the dance would be a fusion of 2 Vegetas (Vegeta, and Goku powered down to equal Vegeta). We'll say Vegeta is a 2, and Goku is a 2.2, so the dance would be 2x2=4. The potara can let Goku stay at full power so the potara would be 2x2.2=4.4. 4.4 is greater than 4, meaning potara is better. And also at the time there was no time limit.
Now, it doesn't seem to matter. Goku and Vegeta are basically equal, so the creators say the strength of Gogeta vs Vegito are basically equal. And now the potara is reconned into having a time limit too (1 hour vs the dance's 30 minutes) but there's less time if the fusion is too strong.
So basically, potara was better before, but now they are effectively equal except potara won't give you fat or old Vegito.
@@Alienldr I think they only need to lower their power to enable the fuse, but once it's enabled their power can sky rocket as much as they want it to, they're not locked to that level or anything at all
@@nathanstarnz5468 yep, they just needed to mirror eachothers energy perfectly for the fusing to actually work at the moment of fusing but afterwards the fusion fully possesses both characters full range of energy and skills fully brought and magnified on top of that in Base form alone.
It actually is pretty understandable why the fusion lasts for a shorter time when using high amounts of energy. It's just like when you turn the brightness of your cellphone all the way up, that causes the battery to drain faster.
That is a very good metaphor to explain energy drain for fusion🙂

Perks of fusion probably doesn't just include power boost. It has been stated to create a new warrior that's superior than the two.
Personality - When you get Goku who is goofy and careless, Vegeta who is too uptight and tensed at all times fused together, their extremes cancel out each other. So Gogeta is perfectly on guard but not tensed like vegeta. Serious but still have a sense of humor.
Techniques wise he is also superior as he has come up with completely different techniques that Goku and Vegeta has never used before.
I understand why people get the metamorans and the yardratians mixed up. They are both alien races that taught Goku important techniques offscreen during a timeskip. We never saw them except through cameos of the yardratians in the anime. Goku could have just said "yardratians in the afterlife" instead of a new alien race, and it would have made sense and we wouldn't have known better. If you have 2 things that do the same thing, and changing the name to the other would make sense still, then it's something that many will be confused about

@@gengar5213 the reason for that is that vegito always fights immortal characters or he is stalling on purpose like in buu case. Zamasu had infinite regeneration, and with buu he had to save the others so he couldnt kill him, on top of his great regeneration even though strong characters can negate that as proven by vegito himself
Gogeta however always fought characters that were just strong, no immortality no regeneration no hax abilities. So he could pummel them and destroy them like he did with janemba and almost did with broly. And he could do so with Omega Shenron aswell

And while yes he was a reality warper, gogeta was just so strong it was basically irrelevant. Too fast for him to react and too strong that he was casually obliterated. Now unless you want to count one of the Z games where he is the main villain where he will always regenerate as long as evil exists in the multiverse, then yeah but thats a different story

I have a theory that since this technique came from the metamorans of U7, this technique won't work for characters from any other universe because not only would U6 have metamorans with a completely different dance, the other universes may not have metamorans at all.
The potara from other universes work if I remember correctly. And universe 6 likely has metamorans

The fusion concept (potara and dance) is so cool
The idea of both freiza and cell fusing is both cool and scary. Both are already smart and incredibly skilled fighters, and their power on their own is crazy so for those two to be humble enough to fuse with each other just might create something that could rival beerus and make even whiss raise an eyebrow.
Lol you’re pushing it a little there in my honest opinion I feel like yeah maybe Frieza would be the fusion dominant part since he’s already reached another level far up ahead to keep up with SSB but Cell is nowhere near any of the current strong DB fighters level not including the weak ones let alone Beerus and Whis.

Cell may not be nearly as strong as anyone currently but don't forget that he still has sayian, namikian, and frost giant DNA so he might get stronger much faster than both of them but that last part is pure speculation.

If you watch mistare fusion dragon ball disection video apparently toriyama was going to make gogeta canon but toei ended up using him first in fusion reborn. Which of course ended up spoiling him and making toriyama to quickly come up with potara fusion
I’ve always been really fascinated by the concept of the failed fusions like Veku & Fat Gotenks (side note can’t wait to see Fat Gotenks in Super Hero, even though I wish he would’ve been given a different name like Fat Gogeta was actually called Veku) and how that actually works. I know you said in this video that those forms make them weaker but my head-cannon for Veku was that maybe the failed Fusion is only half of the power of the true fusion along with half of the time limit bc of some inconsistencies in the anime while Goten & Trunks were testing the technique for the first time. It would make the failed Fusions so much cooler if they still were a power up but only at half of the full potential.

Metamoran Fusion is amazing if the fusion has too much power and it uses that power in full force it will defuse early but if the fusion uses full power at the point of attack the fusion will last till the end of the fight

I don't think all high power fusions reduce the fusion time of the fusion dance. Ssj3 was the only form to be officially stated to reduce the fusion time. So it's likely the ssj blue is still locked at 30 minutes. Could be the strain Ssj3 puts on the body. However this is different than the vegetto blue potaro fusion where the Kai stated that their emense power drained the fusion time

This is just head canon, but for the whole "stronger a fusion is the shorter the fusion", I assume that the fusion can get back up to that half hour max via better ki control (be able to access the high power without draining as much time, aka "stamina"). This could be achieved through practice and knowing about the time drain so you could "correct" it.
This is why I think Gogeta didn't just instantly defuse in Super Broly. Even though Vegito is a different fusion, they probably have a similar feeling and both Goku and Vegeta would remember how little time they had as Vegito Blue. So, by remembering that feeling, they corrected it for Gogeta,

I don't think that extra scene from the anime, where Goku shows SS3 to the kids, makes really a difference, because they both already saw the transformation while he was fighting Buu, through Babidi. What it doesn't make sense is that, they knew what the form was called, but they still call it Ultra Super Saiyan, and what makes even less sense is that they are surprised to "discover" that there's something stronger than Super Saiyan even though they saw both Super Saiyan 2 and 3.

After that only 18, Yancha and Muten are shown to close their eyes again and later 18, Popo and Piccolo are shown with their eyes wide open because the Santuary was shacking. It is a bit ambiguous, I'd admit that, BUT at that point, no matter what, they would know for sure that there is a Super Saiyan 2 and a Super Saiyan 3, since they saw 2 from both Vegeta and Goku (I don't think they saw Gohan do it), and they felt the huge power boost after Goku said he would transform beyond 2.

Plus a bit of detail in that xenoverse 2 legendary pack 2 dlc is that when gogeta is in base the player can still damage him normally but when gogeta unfuses broly obtains super armor
But when a full power jiren is on the field we are able to deal normal damage to broly
Showing that gogeta base is equal to full power broly but doesnt have enough strength to beat him
And a full power jiren is equal to broly but also doesnt have enough strength to beat him
So i kinda like the extra detail
So if you want a true accurate representation of fusion use multiple sources where you can put it together to understand left right up down
My guess is the fusion technique works like a jutsu in Naruto. The user can cancel the technique early if they want to or they can let it last its natural amount of time. So anytime you see a fusion ending before 30 minutes, it's probably because the fused warrior wanted it to.
As for the 1-hour break in between fusions, that would have had to have been added in to create a sense of urgency. After all, if fusion only lasts 30 minutes, but can be done over and over again with no time in between, then imposing a 30-minute time limit would be meaningless, since the defused warriors could just refuse immediately and continue the fight. Only by adding in both the 30 minute time limit and 1 hour break in between would toriyama be able to create tension. And in my personal opinion, having Gotenks defuse right before he was going to beat super buu, and having gogeta defuse right before he was going to beat Omega shenron were excellent plot devices.
If that was the case Goku and Vegeta would’ve defused in the Broly movie, instead they had to wait those 30min to try again like piccolo said.

the next time Gogeta appears, he might be just the most broken and overpowered character in the series. Just imagine, Gogeta being able to use UI AT WILL, while also possessing the powers of Ultra Ego (not sure if at the same time, or alternating both). Plus, both Vegeta and Goku are already much, much stronger individually. Their techniques will be also further mastered and refined, so his overall exponential powers will be utterly ridiculous. Gogeta soon could be the first character to be able to compete head to head, (maybe not win), against Whis and Beerus
Gogeta would *definitely* win against Beerus. Even individually, Goku and Vegeta are stronger than most GoDs at their peak strength, and Gogeta's base-form would be dramatically stronger than that. With UE and/or UI, he'd be millions of times more powerful than the average GoD. No way Beerus is at that level, even if he is solidly stronger than the vast majority of them. Whis would very likely be a different story, though.

In original manga and on cannon dragonball its never stated that using more power drains the time limit faster for the metamoran fusion. The time limit variables have only been used in reference to the potara fusion. So although unlikely gogeta blue could be written to last the full half hour
