- John Locker joins us on the podcast talking us through that incredible record he's held for the last 10 years!
We talk about the importance of preservation and the dangers of being on the coast filming his channel. John takes us through the inspiring story behind starting TH-cam and the importance of being outside to nurish your mental health. We dip into his intentions and ethos behind the channel he has suck to which has been fundamental behind his success.
Unfortunately as you can see one out our cameras was down and wouldn't let us record for various reasons. Luckily we do have some limited footage to show you. If you prefer to listen by means of audio only then head over to PodBean or Spotify to listen to this episode. We have now addressed the technical issues and will be back to full footage display on the next episode. Im sure we will be collaborating with again soon at some point..

Agree so much been fishing 45 years myself and learnt so much from John, he's changed my attitude on so many things and opened my eyes to so many things I've generally walked past , I wish him and his family all the very best.
This guy has literally changed my family’s life! From being the couch potato family to being the outdoors adventure family!! If we watch tv now it’s the fish locker and the kids get the kitchen chairs out, like it’s the cinema!! I’m just so thankful to John!! All the best to him and his family 👍🏻
I don’t know how old your children are but if they are young say under ten trust me take them fishing or to the park to climb trees or anything that you do as a family and you will have nostalgic chats with them when they are older.
You won’t just have fun with them in the moment but for years to come

Hi John, Ive followed your channel for such a long time and from the first one I saw I new by your deportment that you were military. In the forces you are looking after the man next to you and you are still doing that through your fishlocker vids... i also new that you must have marine biology back ground knowing all the names of everything that passes through your hands. Even the average angler wouldnt know the names that you know. As I've said to you before im 70 years old and to infirm to get out much. But your interaction makes me feel a heap better about myself, A very big thankyou John, I cant say that to often ...One of lifes gentleman.
I'm from the USA and I am amazed at this guy. I liked when he caught a Bluefin Tuna.
The Fish Locker family has been a God send to me. It has taken me to a place where I always wanted to be. Some place I hope to see someday. Awesome podcast.
You can't buy Class. That Man is Class, an inspiration to both young and old. So many people love how and what he is sharing with his great Positivity. I know for sure that his efforts and that of a local youtuber have helped me through difficult times. I can't thank people like them enough. I wish him and his Family all the very best.

Being such an influence to your young friend and changing his outlook in life is commendable and a massive credit to you.
There are way too many young people who don't get these experiences... I can put any of your TH-cam videos on TV and my 11yr old daughter goes quiet and does complain when the next one comes up... Thanks John... 👍
My British hero!
The first time I saw one of John's videos, he was spotting scallops on a beach. I was awed by the skill he has for seeing something that 99% of people would have missed. I thought this man must be a marine biologist. He's a bit of a hero to me.

Why can't people understand that those two Tuna were by-catch not targeted fish and that they were both released alive. So where is there a problem. One of your best videos. All the best.

@@rickyribs8032 I said it that way because in UK waters it is illegal to target TUNA for sport. If they are caught accidentaly and released alive as was the case here there are neither legal or moral reasons to complain. When some idiots see the beautiful fish, they complain but they have no problem buying TUNA in a can!!!

Great interview with John. Been a subscriber to his channels since being stuck in Hospital over 3 years ago. I heard rumours of a podcast but don't normally bother with such things, so glad I came across this by chance. Strange that there is no mention of the interviewer's name. Stay safe & well. 👍👍

I read once a very true saying 10% of the fishermen catch 90% of the fish the other 90% catch the remaining 10% unfortunately I am in the unskilled 90%but watching Johns videos is a real pleasure.

I've watched 'The Fish Locker' for some years now, but I didn't know this video of John explaining its origins etc existed.
Great stuff, and I didn't know he was the UK bass record holder.
A good insight into the life of one of the most genuine good guys out there .
The more people that live family life or just take some of these morals will lead an all round nicer life and be nicer for it 👍

Very interesting John, a niece of mine has the same condition as James and luckily her parents share your views. I completely agree with you regarding conservation and sharing sites, you may well be able to keep two of something but if dozens of people do stocks will soon be decimated. I really like your videos and look forward to each new one. Didn't know about that bass, well done.

Picture this I went for a walk down to the pier with my wife and son, stood by watching the guy's off loading they're catch from a small enough trawler, after clearing the nets, they hosed anything that fell on deck back into the water, most was dead or dying, small monkfish, cod, loads of flat fish, mackrell,, my family and I love the fish locker, amazing stuff,

Hi John, It would seem that you and I have something in common. I menti oned in one of my previous posts that I enjoyed your video's about knots, I was in the fire brigade where we needed to know how to tie lots of different types of knots. After I left the brigade I qualified as a licenced aircraft engineer working on Boeing 747's , 777's . Were you in the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm?

Life is like the yt comment section, you can post the greatest of comments and get thousands of likes but there's always one a hole who will make it their business to feck you up. Sustainability just isn't good enough for some people 😔
I used to go out with a "roll model" . . . She had great baps.
I use to watch him all the time, and still on the odd occasion still tune in.
I got put off with what i thought was over marketing from the wife's side of things... I dint remember exactly what it was, but as soon as they spoke about their business that kinda did it for me if I'm being honest.
I truly hope he doesn't get tempted by the financial side of things, as that'll really ruin their success's & following numbers. I genuinely like him, just wasnt keen on the missus, as I remember, she seemed a bit 'off' sometimes whilst they were filming together, which made me think that they weren't showing their true selves.
Anyway. I do admire how far they've come, love the little boys fishing adventures with his dad the most, as that's special! 👍

This man deserves all the publicity in the world I hope is Channel keeps on growing and growing it's by far the most entertaining and informative TH-cam channel for fishing if you have any young children who want to learn this is the man who can teach them. I have no doubt he would have returned that fish if you look at his last video on TH-cam and see the two lobsters he caught they were amazing absolutely massive and he Returned them.
A hero of mine, not just as an angler, but as a person too. Such a positive impact on the world. Keep up the good work mate ❤
