A very jealous Cornish fisherman that now lives in Bulgaria, far from the sea, would like to congratulate you on your fishing and your TH-cam journey! You have come so far since the beginning and its great to see you making a huge a success of your passion 👏🏼 So many elements in your videos now that I can't even begin to highlight individual segments. From hook to plate, tackle knowledge, boating skills, diving pleasures, safety, conservation, shore, reef and boat, educated.....the list goes on. The way you go about your fishing is admirable. You respect the environment and the catch. You are knowledgeable and pass that knowledge on. You dont take for granted what you are lucky enough to have surrounding you. You are entertaining whilst informative. Beyond that, you are a pleasure to watch and learn from! I'm a new watcher, just found you in the last week and been watching from Melbourne, Australia. You've inspired me to set up a beach day with friends and look up the marine laws here and learn a bit about our local environment while we check out our rock-pools. I grew up watching Les Hiddins and you two have a lot in common. I'm blown away by how you know all the Latin names and how your channel remains so wholesome. All this to say your efforts are greatly appreciated and maybe the haters are more likely to comment but there are a lot of us who silently watch and love the message that you bring. I did laugh when I heard you say that Aussies will be cringeing when I put my hands into these caves and crannies in the rock pools. You're damn right about that!

Well done John , you put a smile on all our faces with this one ! The bigger ones are not yet showing yet around the IOW but soon we hope. Love the light stuff, great fun.
Another great video; when you filleted those fish it took me back to my hotel chef days; a cut accross the fillet was called a 'supreme', in French, a cut across the whole round fish was a 'darne', and a cut across a large flat fish was a 'troncon'. We would grill the halibut troncons with an anchovy or parlsey butter, deep fry the supreme of cod/ pollock etc in a salt and vinegar batter. So delicious, and I hope you and the family get to try a few of the old recipes,....they're well worth it. Best, Tim.
Hi, John. What a miracle that you had an almost windless trip offshore until late afternoon. Given all the wind you've had to put up with this spring, you richly deserved a day of what we former swordfish harpooners referred to as "flat-ass calm." And those big pollock! If I can find even ONE that size in my planned hunts for pollock this summer, I'll be thrilled. Stay safe, Chris (Maine, USA)
Cracking start to the day, John. When the first fish is like that one was, the day is sorted! Hoping the fishing you had is reflected through this year.
I know you've probably heard all the comments you want to hear. But you are the coolest fisherman in your demeanor and calmness. You took those fish up from the abyss and laid them in the box in style. I was already tasting some fish and chips in my thoughts while you were filet ing those. Great video and very enjoyable and informative 👍👍
Nice one John, great channel. Love to see you providing beautiful, fresh sea food for the family. My one, and only, attempt at sea fishing was that years ago, me and my mate Mac, went on a coach trip from Derby to Bridlington for a day's sea fishing. The boat hadn't got out of the harbour before Mac started spewing his ring up over the side, and he was like that for the whole trip. I was spewing for about an hour or so before I dot my "sea legs". We were " jigging" for herring and I never had a single bite let alone catch a fish. You make it look dead easy ya bugger! 😄😄👍👍
That was a damn fine days fishing John. It looked like good fun. Especially when fishing the jig. It was cool seeing you taking your time so they could go back down. It was good seeing the nice fillets at the end too.
.. your content and video production value always "reels me in". Great respect for the target species but care and attention to your gear. Thanks so much again. Cheers.
Thank you so much for the video! My prayers for you and your family were answered. You made a new video! I laughed in excitement and even cried a little when you lost that first one. Holy Father that WAS a donkey of a fish on the first one. All my best, Fan happily from a distance, Angie

By The Wind Sailor, interesting little creature, in my 63 years on this planet, I've never heard of them.
Every day is a school day mate.
Fantastic filming and great explanation of what's happening and great details. I've never seen a fish returned using a decender but I'm sure that will be something that grows in popularity with the catch and release community
Brilliant day out 😊
👍🏴😁✌️
Blinder of a trip mate.
Perfect as always. Thank you for showing the wind sailor and how you can use a descender to assist the fish back down. 😊 Those first two pollack were amazing
I have made a seperate video about the descenders, it’s on the workshop channel. 👍🏻
That's a cracking video John keep them coming mate
Cheers bud.
Been watching you for around 3 years now enjoy everything you do
Glad you’re still enjoying the videos David. 😊👍🏻
Awesome video John, amazing fishing!
Thank you Lewis.
you are bloody amazing proud to be an English man because of you
Just sharing what we know and love doing mate. 👍🏻🎣
In Australia 🇦🇺, Darwin 1000s of lure guys are addicted to getting Barramundi, most on braid, last time we got 17 plus Saratoga, what a day, 3 to 4 metre crocs, hand feeding sea Eagles!! Cheers 🍻 ❤😊
U were grinning like a Cheshire throughout that video and little wonder. Love the new bib and brace set.😂
It was a blinder of a session mate. These are the same bib and brace I’ve have for 2 years. Hard wearing kit. 😉👍🏻
Beautiful fish. Loved that you didn’t plunder the ocean by keeping more than what you needed.
We never do. I always try to promote conscientious harvesting. Taking only what you need.
really good video john, good fishing day it seems
Definitely one of the best.
Lovely to see an expert at work. You are a great fisherman and your knowledge is fantastic. Thank you for sharing. Those fillets were amazing. Well done.
My pleasure mate.
The perfect day, the sea flat calm and the fish hungry there's nothing better 🙂
You can’t help but love it!!!
Well done John , you put a smile on all our faces with this one ! The bigger ones are not yet showing yet around the IOW but soon we hope. Love the light stuff, great fun.
The water quality here has just gone down hill so it’ll be a few more weeks until the fishing picks back up.
Quality Content on its way.
💪🏻🎣
Great video. 3 great fish. Filleted and ready for the freezer or pan. Nice to you returning excess unharmed.
Just doing what I feel is right.
Best, Tim.
If watching these videos doesn’t make you want to head out fishing then nothing will. Awesome content mate.
Those pots are so clean they look new, and the fishing looked so easy you must have thought you were dreaming!
It might have looked easy. 🤣
@@TheFishLocker making it look easy is what the pros do!
Days like this are that small weather window as the wind changes direction between blows. This spring sure has been a windy one. 🤣🤷🏻♂️
What a great load of Pollocks!
I wonder if the returns tell theirs mates they've been off the hook and on the net....?
Haha. About strange alien abductions.
Cracking start to the day, John. When the first fish is like that one was, the day is sorted! Hoping the fishing you had is reflected through this year.
Haha. Or all downhill from there? 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Awesome video, thanks. The birds at the end made me laugh. Have a wonderful week.
You too mate.
Thank you for taking the time to explain what you do. Very pleasurable and educational to watch.
Blessed with two videos today, happy days 👍 thanks for taking us along with you mate. Giants those 😯 🎣👏
Any time mate.
You are my favourite knowledgeable fisherman that I watch ,as my self a fisherman spear/ rod
We simply share what we know and love doing. 😊💙
Well done. Certainly made me feel envious what a session. The whole video was great John.
Thank you very much.
That’s just great fishing. Nice to see you return what you can. Lovely filleting, you kept the Gulls happy too. Just great.
Haha. To be fair that audience is easier to please than TH-cam. 🤣
Really cool that you showed people how well the decenders can work. I wish everyone would take the time to use them.
Hopefully videos like this will encourage people to do that.
That was a damn fine days fishing John. It looked like good fun. Especially when fishing the jig. It was cool seeing you taking your time so they could go back down. It was good seeing the nice fillets at the end too.
I had a brilliant day, we don’t get many like that.
what a fantastic day on the water, nice to see the descender at work, that was the best display of its use I have ever seen.
As soon as the water clarity improves I am going to try and rig a waterproof camera record the fish swimming away.
.. your content and video production value always "reels me in". Great respect for the target species but care and attention to your gear. Thanks so much again. Cheers.
I am glad that you enjoy what we do. Best wishes to you and your family and have a great week. 🎣👍🏻
Thank you so much for the video! My prayers for you and your family were answered. You made a new video! I laughed in excitement and even cried a little when you lost that first one. Holy Father that WAS a donkey of a fish on the first one. All my best,
Fan happily from a distance,
Angie
Best wishes to you and your family Angie. Have a wonderful week.
That was incredible, what a days fishing that was, gives inspiration to get out and get some lures in the water, superb content as usual John, thanks for sharing that with us all
My pleasure mate. Glad you enjoyed joining me.
Nice Pollack . My best was 7 Ib . from the shore . My pal got a 14 Ib from a boat, that was his best and his first as well. That was 1975. Best time i had when i was fishing.
That was one fine fish. I live in Washington state northwest pacific coast. My grandfather owned a cod fishing. Ship out of Alaska. Nelson's cove. His. Ship was called the. C. A. Their.
I hope to visit Alaska at some point. 😊🎣
Everyday is a school day. Them wind sailors are something else. I didn't even know they existed. Great fish too 👍
Every day is a school day mate. 🎣👍🏻
Well done mate, you did them fish proud, from catching to filleting, and I'm sure you and the family will have a few nice meals with them pollack. Another great video John.
Great video John and thanks for the info and viewing of the 'by the wind sailor' - I have read about them but never actually seen one live, perhaps as I live near The Solent, where I am pretty sure we never get them? Correct me if I am wrong pls. And that first pollack...WOW!
Who knows? They drift on the ocean so it’s not outside the realms of possibility
I enjoy watching a man who respects the resource ! No live baits,
and any fish hooked that wasn't wanted was returned to the sea
essentially unharmed. Excellent !
I do occasionally use livebaits but that is purely a choice to use the most effective method for the conditions. 🎣👍🏻
Loved your wet-gear, John. Slava Ukraine
What? Nah Guy Cotten.
Great video John and plenty there to fill the freezer. The Wind Sailor is incredible too; thank you for the brief tutorial on it; very interesting. Tight lines, regards to you and your family and see you on the next one.
Thank you John and best wishes to you and your family. 👍🏻🎣
Always makes me happy when I see a notification of you posting
Glad you’re actually getting notifications. Some folks say they don’t get them any more?
@@TheFishLocker I would recommend you to tell them to make sure the bell is on "all" for your posts so they see them
As ever John, another superb video. Educational, Informative and just so interesting and fun at the same time. Thank you.
My pleasure mate.
