A very good presentation and worth considering a couple of points. One big advantage of up-tiding is to place the bait out of the scare area of the boat and allow more rods to fish from the same deck space. Depth of water is significant to be effective with 30-80' being optimum for me fishing in the Solent area where using up and down tiding covers more area of water. I have caught some of my best fish using the upside method.
Superb. I'll look for your other videos as I'd like to know more about uptiding eg when why and benefits of it... I remember when uptiding became "a thing" in early to mid 80s. Love your whiteboard graphics very helpful.
Thanks very much - great stuff! I guess the reason you’d fish up or down tide, other than to reduce the chance of tangles, is to catch different types of fish?
Morning,I’m going on a charter Friday and will be down tiding for the first time I’ve messaged the skipper to see what bait to get and he said squid and blacks Can u tell me how to bait the hook with these baits please
Doe this relate to fishing from the shore , as if I was fishing an in coming tide would I have to use the weight wit the wee arm things ?, and an out going tide I could fish with jst a standard lead wieght
Hi mate i purchased a rib and have been fishing on the drift, do the same downtidibg techniques work for drift fishing as well? Obviously you can’t uptide on the drift but any tips would be appreciated. Is it best to drop it to the bottom and turn it up a few times?
Downtide upside, pulls,so so complicated best to stay on the piers and inshore rock and just think about boats, as if you not done it all your life you haven't a chance folk say its easy, yes if you have the know how but not for the layman xx
If the water flow is too heavy for fish to swim in, up tiding would need a huge pound grab weight. If that fails to hold bottom turn around and go home.
Excellent explanations by a man who really knows his stuff
Once again a clear, precise video showing the correct way to fish from a boat. Brilliant.
Best explanation I've seen on the internet yet for the basics of fishing at anchor. Top shelf!

we always find here in the nw uptiding produces more cod and downtiding more whiting, conger, great vid
fester Adams - It depends purely on the ground I have found. But yes. Downtiding does produce more conger in my experience.

What's your preference in line, nylon or braid?

I tend to bounce it along the bottom when drifting. Yes, running ledger is a good drift rig.
what size of rod would you use for uptiding ?
