The Lord of the Chidambara temple is Lord Shiva in the dancing pose called Nataraja. It is the holiest Shiva temple of the south India. It is alsoa Pancha Bhootha sthala glorifying Shiva in the form of ether (sky).The great Shaivite saints have written voluminously about this greattemple. Here is a mellifluous stotra praising that "Sea of mercy".
