I couldn't be happier that you are going to continue vlogging. I have, quite literally, been looking forward to Vlogtober and Vlogmas all year, no joke. I love your relaxed approach to making these videos, I LOVE watching you rehearse and walk the streets of Boston ( I really miss that city and it is so gorgeous now, which you capture beautifully). So, I am delighted! Thank you for sharing all the things, good and bad, high and low, joyful and teary-eyed. 💞

From one 40 something, married, city dwelling dog mamma only to another-I am SO glad you’re vlogging! We’re rare lol especially on TH-cam. I LOVE watching and you’re a source of calm in this crazy world. It’s refreshing to see women our age making content. Especially someone without children and there are so many of us. Also, when it comes to grief…it’s such a roller coaster. I’ve been windowed 10 years. Remarried now. And grief still gets me. I’m still processing and grieving new things 10 years on! It will be a lifelong process. You don’t stop loving or thinking about someone just beautiful they’ve died. Your relationship changes. The best advice is to not judge yourself with how you’re feeling. Feel, release, repeat. Sending you so much comfort and love! And again, SO HAPPY you’re here making content!! I wish you continued success!!!

One of the 70 something people who follow you. Enjoy what you are doing here. I like seeing how a singer prepares, learns music, etc. Helps me appreciate the live performances I hear. And, we all need to be reminded we are not too old to try what we have dreamed of doing. (Well, I did give up on that Olympic ice skater thing recently)

I have to say random, unplanned day in the life videos are the most fun. No planning, no perfection, just the raw person. You do you Kay, and we’ll be here!

So many feels for me from this as the daughter of a Dad who was my mentor but is sadly gone.

Re: the fatigue before periods - girl, SAME! I want to be DONE with this nonsense! 😤
I also really enjoy your vlogs. I like the stream-of-consciousness content. I just turn these videos on when I'm alone and they make me feel like I have a friend hanging out with me. ❤

I don't remember how I found you, but I'm 31 and didn't feel the age gap nor did I realize you were older. Now, I feel inspired to pursue new paths even as I enter my 30s.
I noticed it's a lot harder for black women to be viral content creators on TH-cam. Idk why or how, but it's like the standards for us are different. I hope you continue to do things for yourself and share your wisdom with others if you want.

Bring it on Kay! I once read a quote by someone I don't recall, that once you stop learning, that's when you start dying. So sometimes I may not learn something frequently, I'm always looking for my next learning opportunity.

What you are going through is normal. Losing your father and also watching the gradual decline of someone who you loved and was your mentor is a lot to handle. Sometimes things catch up to you especially when re-evaluating priorities in life. Especially when he was always there to guide you and now you’re relying on yourself can be scary. It sounds like he gave you the strength to prepare for these times. I would agree with your therapist. Grieving is different for everyone. Don’t beat yourself up! Only go forward and be proud of your accomplishments! Glad you are continuing!!! Looking forward to new videos!

I cannot tell you how much I needed your video today! I was very close with my dad, I took care of him until he passed. He was such a good, truly kind person. The first year after was really difficult -- everything was a first. The second year was so very hard emotionally. It was like the loneliness, the missing him really set in. I still miss him and it will be 8 years soon. Thank you for Vlogtober. You brought me smiles.

Bring it on!! Loving it and Im so pleased you're continuing to enjoy doing the vlogs too. And what a lovely memory of your Dad and how proud he was of you. I still have tears in my eyes of my loss of my Dad. I dont think that altogether goes away but I remember the positive more; funny conversations and more recently of him singing for me. ❤

You light up when you talk about what brings you joy, especially what Vlogtober has been for you...us by extension. When we love what we do, it IS energizing not draining. Tiring at times but it feeds us. Not incidentally, your dad being proud of you...telling you...was such a gift. Thanks so much for sharing this month, Kay, which might have been a watershed.

thank you for sharing this with us. I really needed to hear your words. My dad has been a major influence in my life and his health has been declining since 2020. I have found myself worried about how his loss will effect me. I am so grateful you shared about becoming your own mentor, it’s obviously something we all have to do at some point and some of us earlier than others.

LOVED this vlog!! I also get knocked for a loop the day before the loveliness and it seems to be getting more pronounced. When will the loveliness end?!! LOL!! Glad you shared about the unexpected "new phase" of mourning. I know you're not the only one who has felt this way. Glad the rebuilding is happening downstairs. There is some fun in there somewhere, I promise. Speaking of fun, SO glad you've enjoyed Vlogtober as much as we have and that it's refreshing for you. REAL is always best!! Love you. Happy almost November! Also, shout out to all the 40 somethings who are makin' a comeback or blooming "late" It ain't over even if the fat lady sang and went home -- we're still here!!

30 something here meeting a lot of barriers beginning a career in the creative arts due to my age. Plus the child of medical professionals too so I relate. This was a lovely video to remind me that my path to success will be a bit skew-wiff, but I keep persevering! And I cast your video onto MY tv, so you made it to the small screen in a roundabout way 😊 thank you!

Totally relating to this - my dad was also the person I'd go to for life advice, counsel, support, everything. And I didn't realize as a kid and young adult how great of a mentor he was, until it was too late. Now it's like I'm facing challenges in life and my career and not sure who to turn to. But his motto in every disagreement was "I/we are always on your team". Sounds like your dad and my dad would've gotten along in that way :)

I so enjoy your channel!!! Esp the music you start out with for Vlogtober. Just gives me the calming cozy vibes. It's hard to lose a family member and mentor. However it seems as if you will be able to take all that knowledge your dad passed on to you and help others with that same wisdom. That way you keep him alive within yourself. And I am 50 something, I agree, you are never too old. We have different chapters in our lives and we need to keep moving forward. When we chose to no longer grow and learn is when we truly get old.

Thanks for letting us in on where you're at, emotionally :) Can relate to much of what you're describing (despite some demographic differences).
I admit that I don't usually watch vlog type content...but I've enjoyed your organizing channel and felt kinship with your personality (that I got to know there). Watched this video bc I wanted to see what was up with you lately, and genuinely got teary-eyed at the part where you talked about your conversations with your dad & discussing it with your therapist.
Pursuing that which is "fun" (ignites joy & enthusiasm) for you *is* self-care. It gives you the fuel you need to help get yourself through necessary things that aren't fun, and it fortifies & nourishes you so that you can go on living (well) and be able to share love with those around you (in your orbit-however near or far).
Anyway. I'm 51 & live up in Vermont (near NH/MA borders), a similar climate to yours...the weather has been bizarre: as of 10 days ago, there were lilac bushes still putting out new flowers bc of how warm it has been this fall. Makes it all the more jarring when temps revert to more seasonable (chilly) norms-hardly any rain for weeks, makes me wonder how little snow we'll get this winter ? We shall see.

I’m in a similar boat as you Kay. My parents passed away when I was 19 and 21 so they never got to see me really become an adult. I went to school for music education and didn’t end up going into that field. (Im from Bellingham, MA too haha so not tooooo far from Boston). I’m 38 now and have spent my life thus far not happy with whatever I am doing. I’m always thinking about how disappointed my parents would be and I let my anxiety rule/ruin my life. I find something thinking “what do I wanna do when I grow up?” GIRL. I AM grown up lol but I don’t feel like it most days! I am trying to find my passions and I pray everyday that it will come to me. That I will make my parents AND myself proud. Love you and your quirky personality, you are amazing!
