Right. Thats Klaus Voorman off the Christmas card list! How could anyone dislike John Halsey...The mind boggles. Thank you for a funny anecdote on a Friday John, you cheer the whole world up. More than any of those guys that day have ever done.... I hope you got some nice sweets...Blimey, you have made us chuckle!! Cheers!!
John is a Great Drummer, met him when I was Roadie for Keith Read at The Rising Sun, The Rutles album had just been released, I have a Photo somewhere.
Darn that is a great saga. I got to know another drummer who played on some Lou Reed albums Michael Suchorsky. years ago for a bit but I can say that cool drummers played for him.
I saw a picture of John Halsey with a blue jacket behind a Rutles bass drum next to a guitarist with a red jacket, and I have to say that John was quite a handsome man with that dark red hair.
Hey John👍 I just checked my vinyl copy of transformer and you have first position credit for drums on the back cover, your name is spelt 'Halzey'? Hope you enjoyed those sweets!
Hi John, long time nosey... that must've been Trident Studios, down the alley behind The Ship, in a basement. One song an hour, that's good going. I heard Bowie could be impatient and liked to move things along. Great to see you, hope all's well mate - keep it coming!
I’ll amend my original comment if I may and add a correction, it wasn’t in my estimation Track 1 side 2 Make up, amongst the others I listed that you played on during that brilliant afternoon session. I recognise your drumming on Track 4 Side 1 Hangin’ round.
Blew it all on Jelly Babies! Fnarrrr Seriously John, I was wondering, as a massive Lou VU and Bowie fanatic, what tracks did you play on, and what parts did you play? I had no idea you were on that album. Then again I was a young tyke in 1973 (all of five). I'm not sure if they've yet put out a super deluxe version of Transformer, but I do hope they eventually do that, with a booklet and all that.
Transformer! What a masterpiece. Been listening to it since i was a child, never gets old.

"I spent it on sweets..." Brilliant!!
Absolute Legend and a National Treasure.

What were the 5 Transformer tracks he did the drums on?
Barry Wom!!!

According to Wikipedia Lou Reed and Bowie recorded at Trident.
I thought of De Lane Lea studio when he said near the Marquee. Wrong again 😊
@@amaj7313 De Lane Lea is in nearby Dean Street now, but back then it was in far-off Wembley.

I’d have done it for nothing to meet Bowie sod the sweets!🤣great story
What tracks? I’m guessing off Transformer.

Well, I like both John Halsey and Klaus Voormann. Funny how that goes.

Wish you could have had at least a small sum, perhaps even a pound for every "unit" sold! I hope your name is on the album/cassette covers!
Hey, John! Still running the pub!?
Alas no, dem days are gone 👍🏼
@@johnhalseytheadmiraloffici6651 'Tis a shame, dear sir! I am in Australia now!
That's a down to earth musician must of been good or Bowie wouldn't have called him
Side 1.
1. Vicious.
3. Perfect day.
Side 2.
1. Make up.
2. Wagon Wheel.
3. I’m so free.
I thought he also played on andys chest
@@joero4610 You could be right.
In which case it must have been more than five tracks he
drummed on.
He got 18 pound for it, but played with Bowie-Reed-Ronson. That’s bigger than 18 pound, that’s THE biggest thing in your life.
